I’m not even a mad off road fan, but I’m loving these videos… and this car seems bloody good value. Like you said, it might be a game changer here… especially if it proves to be a robust platform to build on!
Very insightful video on what goes on behind the scenes when companies make aftermarket parts. Fascinating that so many people were calling this a Suzuki Jimny with more power but now it looks like it's more like a shorty patrol. It's been out for years already overseas so you can tell Great Wall wanted to get it right before they released it here and it looks like they did a good job. Time will tell, of course but this is going to make alot of Aussies very happy.
if you raise it more than 2inches, you need change the suspension linkages, they are not long enough for the modification and they might come off while driving. It was a common mistake for people whom raised tank 300 too much back in China.
Mate this is brilliant! Saw the Tank advertised on tv tonight for the first time and was curious and then your videos came up as suggested. I've watched all 3 so far and loving them! Subbed!
Nice. I threw 32" KO2s straight on this, thought I might be able to go with 33s but didn't want to risk it, and I have a bit of a language barrier here, so I am keenly following along with your vids. I'll go larger when I get a lift. Getting upgraded under body armour, so good to know about the power steering too. Cheers mate.
friendly advice : need to change to a longer control arm and reset the Camber angle if you raise it very high or risk control arm popping off from the knuckle. But you seem to know what you are doing, I'm not too worry.👍👍
Keep these vids coming mate... i think Australia needs to be convinced a little as GWM in the past hasnt been a good name but i think this is an awesome vehicle.... ive been eyeing them off for about 6 months and from what ive seen in chinese vids there very capable and very safe in roll overs as well.... built like a tank..... would love to see a diesel hybrid varient but doesnt seem to be on the cards..... im waiting on the hybrid variant and also waiting for the tank 500 to be realead then i will test drive both and make a decision.... also waiting on the shanhai cannon as well... apparently both should be here end of year or start of next year according to my research.... 🤙🤙
Dash, pretty sure I have seen you a couple of times around Adelaide in the Patrol. Looking forward to seeing this new and promising platform in future. Thanks for the content mate, it’s always good viewing 👍🏻
Gotta remember when judging the suspension component "girth" to bear in mind that it weighs a tonne less than a patrol too, so doesn't need to be as big. Straight pipe options has got to be the next mods!
Hey all - everyone see the rears lifting off the ground with hard breaking... its it an issue or not... i still getting one... cant get 5 star ANCAP if rubbish.... just keen to hear some options.
Would a 17inch rim fit around the brake callipers or even a 16 inch?? Offroad performance focused cookie cutter 235s could prob go 34inch with a 1-2inch lift. That would look a bit old fashioned but works off road….
Can anyone advise would it be OK to put on 285/70/17 cooper at3 tires without having lift kit or any other modifications and would that reduce lots of power of the vehicle? thx!!
They solid axle swap them in china and they are looking like affordable mean rigs tbh, this looks like a copy of the russian uaz patriot/bremach suv which is probably why everything is mostly overbuilt, it also features the 2 speed transfer case awd with lockers offroad modes
So is this a bad idea to start for a new off roader I want to do light off road and camping Do you think this is more than enough or have some downfalls
@mkvector9539 The new patrol is a Armada. They are the same, just different name. I like the Titan also. I think that I'll buy one. The Titan is an awesome bargain used.
Hey guys loves your videos, i am planning to buy one for my wife and wanted to add a bull bar and some good rims on it, thank to you for trying it haha (i though 34inch will fit and it look like not in stock, you make me save money). can you just tell me what the offset for the wheels that you put ? i recon it looks like a +20 ?keep going like this guys amazing video
Enjoying seeing this Tank 300 content, keep it up! I reckon it would look so much better if they got rid of that big badge in the middle of the front grill. Is there a way you could remove that simply, or would it have some form of backing plate that would look silly too then? A replacement grill even just without the badge would probably be a good mod I reckon. Also, I've always wondered when doing those wheel clearance checks, whether you need to try having the front wheels turned on full lock while lifting it to see if they would rub anywhere whilst they are turned?
Yes, having some challenges with rims and tyres, but should be sorted and reviewed in the next week. Follow my FB and Insta for a clue as to what’s happening in between YT vids 👌💯💯💯
@@DASHOffRoad Just followed inst now. Have been following you guys on fb and TH-cam for a long time as I also have a Y62. Watched almost all your vids on the Y62 and really enjoyed them. Seriously thinking of getting the tank for Mrs atm so I get to drive both.😂😂
Shit, I nearly didn't see him driving that forklift without his HV on :D I thought it was always hot down under??? you guys wearing jackets, how cold exactly does it get for you in the Winter down there ? What PCD do these things use btw ??
Depends on where you are plenty of areas get snow in Australia, I’m in Sydney and most morning when leaving for work temps are between 5c and 9c middle of winter atm

I tend to agree. I love driving it 💯💯💯

what you go with ... i thought 265/70/17 ... now i dont know ?
I’d be curious if 285/70r17 on a +20 rim would fit at full flex and full lock on stock suspension
Bigger wheels seem to improve it's looks .
I’m enjoying following these videos

Looks awesome with the bigger wheels
The 33s look like what should be on it. But how is the speedo and gearing?
Yeah, the speed is out a couple of kms now
After watching a few vids on the 300, I suspect they’re going to be selling a feck load of them. It’s a nice looking car too

Your doing a good job mate, like your presentations.
Much appreciated!
Great now I know what wheel and tyre size I can fit when I get mine cheers mate
No problem 👍
Good to see that it has decent sized wheel wells, a lot of the mid size IFS fourbies require cutting just to clear 32's
Awesome! How did the gearing go? Very keen to hear that. Considering putting a deposit on
285’s, not a problem 👌
Looks like a good pew pew rig for tight tracks
So what are the real size the yokos 285 x ? x 18

Yes, +18
Excellent video on this Tank interested to see how how you can take it with mods the to see the capability of it.
Great vid, got the hybrid on order. What size rims did you put on, 17 or 18’s, and what profile was the tyre? Thanks.
These were 18’s with a 285/65
Thanks
New sub. Plz keep it coming boyz.
Wonder how much power it'll lose with the 295s on haha. Looks cool but
It loses more traction force on the ground.
Love the vids!
295’s with a lift will look sweet, great video Dave.
Thanks 👍
I am very keen to buy one but the payload seems to be an issue. Ultra Petrol version only have a max payload of 397 kg, is this correct?
Yes, but GVM upgrades are not far away
Now take it off road with the Yokohamas and a Torqit exhaust. And put in a DASH modular floor like all us Y62 owners did. Lol

There is a grill that can be bought that has TANK written all the way across the grill itself.... Large lettering and looks good....

Can you adjust/calibrate ecu for tyre size like on a Jeep?
I don’t think so
Whats the stud pattern on these, 6x139,7 is that correct??
