The only I know of game where being average is something to look forward to 😃 Great series! It's got me breaking out Sherman AND Tiger leader again! (And Ambush! as well!)
Aren't they fun games?! :) I just picked up Ambush! on Ebay a week ago. Looking forward to playing it. Good luck in your Sherman and Tiger Leader games. :)
You said near the end that some commanders would have to sit out the next week's battles because you couldn't afford to buy them new units to command. Well sadly on page 21 it says "If a Unit is Destroyed, but its Commander survives, you must either purchase a new Unit of the Commander’s Type, or discard any one Commander of that Type." In other words, you can't keep spare commanders on the books in the hope that you can buy them a unit later on, you have to let them go.
Nice catch! I vaguely recall learning about that afterwards and making the adjustment off camera, but most definitely, the rules are clear on this as you note. Thanks!
WOW! I like the rain. That turned this into a slug fest. An armored Battalion should not be an easy task. Hmm tough choice for next week. As a conservative commander I would avoid the Armor as they get +2 from their card. I would just go after the artillery with everyone.
Thanks Peter! I’ll have to double check but I think I did that right away off camera. It’s possible I forgot however. I’ll see if I can figure it out, thanks!
I think I noticed that you have to spend 1 SO point to attack the enemy formations that are behind the front line, so you won't be able to attack them both unless you change your mind about priority R&R
Yep, that's a good observation that I initially overlooked. I added a note during editing that mentions it right near the end of the video. But you're correct, we've only got 1 SO point left, so we can attack 1 of the 2 battalions because of their positioning. I suppose I could undo the Priority R&R and give it a shot, that's a good idea. I'll think about that for a bit, I'm not sure we'll get that far with a handful of shaken commanders and pretty heavily outnumbered. I think we'd struggle against two battalions even with all our commanders fit for duty. I wonder if we need to fix the hull on the Jumbo? If we don't need to fix that, I think we'd be better off doing priority R&R and just leaving the Jumbo damaged. I'll check the rules. :) EDIT - Yeah, the Jumbo can fight with a damaged hull. I think we'll just go with that then. :)
Whew, we held on. Not too enamoured with Myers being the only armored commander with a functioning tank at this point, but at least we [still] have one. Thanks for the video as always! The campaign is coming to an end, and it definitely wasn't too bad, considering at least a "Good" score was achieved.
You might be even less happy when you find out we weren't able to fix your hull for the next battle. :) I'll explain more at the start of the next episode. Thanks for stopping in, we'll still have 2 battles left, so I think 3-4 more episodes. Getting a "Great" result would be fun, so we'll shoot for that, but the odds are long I think. :)
Well played. Jerry walked into it, didn't he? ;) One minor point: the 2XP in yellow text on the Battalion card is *in addition* to the 1+1 for fighting and winning respectively. So they should have had four XP per Commander. Custard would have made his promotion after all...
Oh, I didn't realize that about the 2XP yellow note, I assumed it was INSTEAD of the regular XP. I think I can probably adjust those before the next battle. It might not matter, but still, I'd hate to deny anyone a promotion. Thanks for pointing that out! ~ And I'm glad we were able to take out the battalion but the loss of 3 tanks really takes the punch out of our forces. :)
At 3:35, you said "5s or less to negate .... argh, 5 and a 1, that's one hit!". It's easy to nitpick from the sidelines, I'm sure that playing on camera induces all sorts of silly mistakes.
Yes, that's true for sure. This was the second series I made, and I definitely noticed at this point that "playing" and "trying to be entertaining" and "recording" all at the same time puts a pretty hefty cognitive load on the brain. I think I've gotten stronger at this over the past year of making videos, but it's still very much a work in progress. :)
@@ZillaBlitz At some point (after I asked the question...) you drew an event card that had different text in the two fields, so I guess there are some variants. Maybe it's a "make it harder/easier on yourself" option that you can select, when available.
That could be it. I'd have to look back to check, it's slipping my mind at the moment. There might well be two levels to them, and for that one it was the same? I know there were a handful of errata cards that I printed out to play, so thinking back on this, I doubt there is an error with the card of that nature.
This was a while back, so offhand I don't recall the exact situation. Wasn't this heading into the last week, so sitting them out wouldn't have made sense because of the end of the campaign? Sorry if I've forgotten the details. :)
Thanks Marc, and thanks for watching from Germany! Tanks can move and attack but have a small shooting penalty applied (-1 to the attacks). Many infantry teams can move and attack, but they suffer a shooting penalty (-2 to the attacks) and the leader has to take stress if he moves and fires in the same turn. Some units can't move and fire, like mortars, etc. And some leaders who are "Cautious" can't move and fire either.
No, the XP system is pretty basic. It's something I think that could be expanded on for sure, although I'd hate to see the game get bogged down in complexity. :)
Gosh, did I? I'll double check to see what I did. I'll be back. :) EDIT: Oh, yep! You're correct. I'll fix that now. I haven't started filming his battle yet, so we've caught it in time. Thanks for pointing that out, much appreciated. :)
Excellent series!
Thanks, Thomas!

I do like how the game uses cards to vary the conditions on a lot of the scenarios. Lots of built in variety to the game.
Loving this series. So much fun to follow, and you have put the videos together brilliantly!
Thanks, Custard! Great fun to put it together. I'm excited to see how it wraps up, and also excited for the next series. :)
Great video as always. I think you forgot to inflict the extra 1 Stress that each commander was supposed to receive from the closing Event Card.
Thanks Peter! I’ll have to double check but I think I did that right away off camera. It’s possible I forgot however. I’ll see if I can figure it out, thanks!

@@ZillaBlitz you did a great job, many people (self included) never even attempt it.
Thanks, Andrew! :)
Why is the event text represented twice on the event cards? Just curious ...
That's interesting. I don't recall this, but it sure sounds like some sort of design oversight?

Do you have enough commanders to put some on leave to remove stress per the rulebook?

Hello, nice serie. Thank you. One question: can i attack and than move with a friendly unit. best wishes from germany...marc

Do the commanders get any XP for kills?

Didn't you double promote Kelly from recruit to average?
Gosh, did I? I'll double check to see what I did. I'll be back. :) EDIT: Oh, yep! You're correct. I'll fix that now. I haven't started filming his battle yet, so we've caught it in time. Thanks for pointing that out, much appreciated. :)
Matthew - I got a notification about a comment on this post, but now it's vanished. It wasn't me that deleted it. :)
