    Hi #ETMoney Team,
    Could you clarify, if an individual has an option to apply for 80ccd(2) through his firm, then is this correct to say that he/she can claim tax benefits of -
    1. 1,50,000 from 80 C +
    2. 50,000 from 80 CCD(1)B +
    3. 10% of Basic through 80 CCD(2)
    All 3 over n above each other...??
    Example-
    If Gross Salary = 15Lk
    He contributes PF+VPF = 1.5lk
    He contributes to NPS = 50k (individually)
    So now his Taxable salary = 15lk - {1.5lk from 80C + 50K from 80 CCD(1b)} = 13lk
    ------+ But if his company allows NPS deduction, and his basic is 8lk (example) then 10% of it is 80K.
    Are we saying now, he can claim tax benefits of 80K (via 80 CCD(2)) over n above the 2lk amount he claimed through 80 C and 80 CCD(1b)
    Please confirm!

    Is NPS still worth it if I don't get any tax benefit yearly under the new tax slab? Would it be wiser to invest that money in Mutual Funds? Would the 60% EEE tax break at maturity be worth the taxes that one would have to pay as LTCG?

    • @caldwellmanners5697
      @caldwellmanners5697 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ETMONEY Thank you for your response. Obviously, there are no market return guarantees, whether one put their money in NPS or a Multicap fund. I guess the big question is the control one wants over the 40% that would have to go into an annuity vs having the option to completely withdraw it and invest it elsewhere or continue an existing investment in a mutual fund.
      What would be your advice? If a disciplined investor, rather than investing in NPS contributed regularly, at least till retirement, to a mutual fund, it seems to me they could get a better return and have the liquidity and flexibility post-retirement. The prospect of having 40% of your corpus tied up into an annuity plan seems scary to me.

    • @caldwellmanners5697
      @caldwellmanners5697 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ETMONEY I appreciate your suggestion. It brings perspective.
      Do you really think people will begin to put 100% of their corpus into annuity instruments? Is that an emerging trend - you mentioned in the video that annuities are popular in high-income countries?

    Please do also make a video on how to exit from such investments if we are leaving the country and settling abroad.
    Can we withdraw the entire amount in such cases?
    Thanks

    Great content from ET Money team. Sincere Thank you! This makes it much easier for a common man. I've a query here - assuming I've exhausted 80c limit for non-nps investments and then I invest Rs.50k in NPS. Can I claim this Rs.50K NPS investment under 80CCD(1B) for tax exemption?

    Sir ... I have a doubt ... That annuities returns or say interests are nearly to inflation ...
    So why don't we invested in mutual funds and at the age of 60 we will start SWP for monthly income ... And also getting better returns at the invest amount.
    Will you please answer this ... ??
    Thank you sir ....

      Hello Amitabh Mohan: Per the current PFRDA rules, atleast 40% of NPS monies need to go into annuities. One cannot divert it to mutual funds.

    I have a query about PPF/EPF here.
    Currently I am working as an independent contractor, I want to open an PPF account, but in case I shift to being a full-time employee of a company, will the same PPF account be used or will I need to open a new EPF account?

    • @abhishekrajani3835

      PPF and EPF are two different things. PPF can be opened by anyone whereas EPF is for employees.

    Hello Sir , thanks for the video, can someone clarify this question.
    For Tier-1 NPS subscription , a minimum contribution of 1000 should be made in a FY, that question is what happens if I didn't make any contribution for a particular year or say for a continuous 2 years please advise!!!

    • @ETMONEY
      @ETMONEY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. The account gets frozen and the subscriber has to pay the total of minimum contributions for the period of freeze plus a penalty. Pls read more at www.pfrda.org.in/writereaddata/links/faqsallcitizensmodelbf322a1a-be90-4eba-9356-4258f4bdfafd.pdf
