Now if you look back at the winter solider film, he used it with no hesitation. That’s quite a detail there to show he ain’t no merciless killer anymore👏🏼

Honestly, the fights and stuff are rad, like in most of the MCU media, but man.. I just love when the characters interact, you know? It's just so cool to see stuff from the comics brought to life. Characters interacting is just so fun.
The fight between bucky sam and 'cap' at the beginning was cool enough for the entire epsiode. The next episode will be action packed anyway so maybe they are just letting us breathe before shit goes down.
As a black man, when I saw Sam looking at what's in that suitcase, I got chills and goosebumps. This finally beat my excitement over Wanda Vision. Still very different show. But with everything going on in the world. This made me tear up with tear of hopes.
Bucky's characterization in the MCU is my favourite part. Sebastian Stan definitely has the chops to carry a film of his own and I really hope he gets one some day. I really like what they've done with him. He's haunted, but self aware, trying to grow but holding himself back, he's complicated in all the ways Steve Rogers wasn't (that's not a knock on SR I just like seeing the contrast). It was really great to see him and Sam come to some (almost) friendly understanding in this episode. They do make a good pair. Also that shield training montage was dope.
I think he said he probably won't Bc he's technically had two movies heavily centered around his character. I would watch a movie about Bucky but I don't think marvel will make it. I do think they're going to sub yelena belova into the Bucky and widow storyline.
We were supposed to have already met Madame Hydra in Black Widow that’s why her appearance was confusing to a lot of people. Can’t wait to properly meet her this summer!
I’d honestly pay so much for a spin-off series, or even just a one-hour special, about Isaiah Bradley’s life. It’d be beyond depressing, but this amazing character deserves to have his full story told. Also, SEEING HIM FIGHT BUCKY IN HIS PRIME WOULD BE RAW AF FR FR
It won't happen, tbf my only complaint with the falcon and the winter soldier is when bucky was in wakanda and as Ayo spoke the trigger words, bucky saw memories of his past. It would have been cool if we got to see a little action of Isaiah against bucky as the winter soldier. 10 seconds tops but it would have been like a cool little Easter egg. I doubt we'll ever see more of Isaiah simply because Kevin Feige has alot on his plate when it's comes to future MCU titles.
For folks who don't know, Falcon AKA Sam Wilson actually IS named after Sam Wilson who inspired Uncle Sam. It's a joke, just like the fact that Steve was born on the 4th of July and that Peggy Carter was originally named Betsy Ross, and that John Walker later adopted the cover identity of Jack Daniels (both names being the same as a whiskey). Captain America comic books have enjoyed playing with names. :-)

Marvel is doing a phenomenal job in their TV shows so far. Remember we got Loki next up. As for Falcon and the Winter Solider the chemistry of Sam and Bucky is like Murtaugh and Riggs from Lethal Weapon. Loving the reactions keep up the great reviews.
This episode was amazing and heavy. Lamar's family scene although was really sad. And of course Isaiah's case is unspeakable. Walker's situation, I too feel slightly bad for him. But I love when Bucky was screwing with Zemo's mind, lol.
Walker saying "I am captain america" during the hearing isn't just arrogance. It represents what the gov't expects of its soldiers and how soldiers are just their tools
Yep. I saw an article put it quite succinctly, that Steve represents what America aspires to be, while Walker represents what America actually is. He *is* the Captain America that the government has created, whether they enjoy reaping the results or not.
I'm not sure if you're simply referring to the MCU us army, but in the case that you are implying that real life soldiers are just puppets you are in serious need of a reality check
exactly, as a vet, you do as you are told, it's what we do, and him saying he's right that's what he was taught as right, the civilian standards of right and wrong does not compute, as the circumstances we face have shown us it means nothing. Then they put him on bad paper with no benefits, messed up.
Episode 5 honed in perfectly on the meaning behind the symbol of a bloody shield. At that moment, that was what Captain America had become. As an Avenger, Steve did as his moral code guided. As a soldier, Walker was America's bloody shield. He fought for interests he never believed in, even telling Lemar that being Cap was the first thing that felt right. Steve became Cap because he took the serum and made the power his own. For Walker, he is Captain America because America took him and made him their own. Now Sam is taking the shield and fighting for something that is part of his own struggle, and that's why he's the better choice for Captain America.
@@mileshill7196 I feel like you can sympathize with a person or character and not detach them from their crimes. Like what he did is wrong and can’t be justified, and he should be in jail, but I can still sympathize to a degree with his clear mental problems and the death of his friend.
I love the "Star Spangled Man With A Plan" over the top of Sam's training montage. It felt like the first Captain America movie, when Steve was becoming the symbol. Now Sam is working to become an even more powerful symbol.
I hope you guys know how excited i was to see your thumbnail pop up. Ive been refreshing the e5 reaction search wqiting for your and 2 others. Yall got top 3. Fuck yeah!
I feel like Walker knows the guy he killed isn't Lemar's killer, but he has to lie to the family and is suffering internally for it. That would explain why he wants to go back and finish the job even without the title nor the shield. The response from the family about exacting justice drove him further into becoming radicalized.
The thing with John Walker's whole "Time to get to work" and continuously blaming the guy is that it's due to his military training and PTSD. When you go through something traumatic like that, you're kinda just expected to pick yourself up after that. When he kept blaming the other guy, despite him obviously not being the one who killed his friend, the fact is that HE killed the guy over it. Thus, he has no choice but to justify it that way. Likely similar to what he had to do in Afghanistan.
that provides and insight into his thought process and holds the government just as accountable but he IS to blame. This "he just had a bad day" is getting really old, he is to be held just as accountable for his actions as the government that failed him when he needed it.
@@estellacorduroy5259 did I say he wasn't to blame? I was simply providing insight into WHY he was doing those things. I wasn't saying it made him innocent.
It's was a small moment that passed me by on the first watch but Bucky waking up to Sam's two young nephews playing with the shield after the conversation with Isiah felt to me as though it had some deeper meaning.
You are correct. If you remember bucky always slept on the floor. This was the first time we see him sleep on something else. And he woke up with a smile.
Also, the kids playing with the shield and Bucky just responding by saying "hey". That little scene gives hope that the shield still has a legacy and that people can still look up to that legacy.
I feel like Walker is a character who shows how heavy the mantle of Captain America is. Because despite of the fact that he had the training and the serum, he crumbled under the weight. It proves that Steve was Cap even when he was a “runt”. Before the army and before the serum, Steve was the same man. He could do it all day, before he had the shield.
Am I the only one who really wants Bucky and Sara to happen? I think Bucky deserves someone to make him happy and Sara and his interaction (even if it was just for like a second lol) was kinda adorable
YES! Hes comfortable at Sams, he looked at peace, I mean, he slept on the couch instead of on the floor. Sam and Buck would be actual brothers instead of co workers.
Sadly, it’s just for comedic relief. To show how awkward Bucky is at flirting. It’s cute but Mcu Bucky has too many fans for him to end up with a black women, the fans and head writers of the mcu will never let that happen
In relation to your poll and the amount of people that said they would take the serum. All I could think of is "Syndrome" in the Incredibles movie saying in regards to superpowers that: when everyone is Super, no one will be....
This episode was amazing. John screaming how he was Captain America because the government said so and because he’d taken the serum and had (at least at first) the shield while Sam is just being Captain America all over the place, just doing the work and being Cap.
Val was a triple agent in the comics, revealed to be born into Leviathan, she became a SHIELD agent and later also Hydra. Hickman and Bendis' Secret Warriors was where they went into her history. edit: I love how every episode demonstrates why Sam IS Captain America, because like Steve he is a good person first, and strong second. So many great conversations this episode, all of them felt earned especially the conversation between Sam and Bucky with the shield. If Wakanda made Sam a vibranium suit that's an awful big favor they are doing for Bucky but I hope that's part of it.
I get the impression that Bucky was very well liked by all of Wakanda. That would explain Ayo’s anger and disappointment when Zemo was sprung, as well as her immediate willingness to forgive and do him a favor. She’s no pushover.
John Walker making a shield from soft iron himself is HILLARIOUS... that thing will bend the first time he throws it! :D also: Can't wait to see Sams new Wakanda suit... bet it has some strength enhancing Black Panther tech... and I would love if he still had wings on it! Captain Falcon!
In one of the animated cartoon series, Falcon, had a red and white suit. The "red feathers", were launched like glass blades but impacted like a LASER bolt.
I believe Carter hired Batroc as her inside man to help take down the Flag Smashers. The first time we saw Batroc, he was hired by Fury to capture the HYDRA ship as a distraction from Black Widow's infilitration mission, so that's a recurring aspect of his character. And consider, everything Carter's done was against Power Broker's interests. She killed Zemo's Lowtown contact, disrupting their underworld while covering for Sam and Bucky. Her involvement led to the super soldier serum lab being destroyed, which completely destabilized Power Broker's plans. If she IS Power Broker, she's using Sam and Bucky to destroy her own interests, does that make sense? So that's my theory. I think she's not Power Broker, but a rival trying to take over, or a deep cover operative destabilizing Madripoor's criminal operations.
Thank god Marvel had the balls to green light a show that goes in depth about themes like racism, mistreatment of soldiers, and globalization. The scene with Isaiah Bradley is so damn heartbreaking to watch. Steve Rogers disobeyed orders and went behind enemy lines to save his brothers in arms and was celebrated as a hero. Isaiah Bradley did the exact same thing and was not only locked up for 30 years but had his history erased so no one would ever know what the US government did. And honestly while I disagree with the acts of terror they commit the Flagsmashers are right! The governments of the world do next to nothing for refugees usually value the sanctity of their borders more than people who just need help.
John is running on ego right from the start. Its funny how his white privilege gets him sympathy and he gets to walk free even though he committed a war crime.
@@jeringatai3156 A war crime? Bruh it was a terrorist. American soldiers kills thousands and thousands of people every year all over the world. Do you think the Avengers had never committed a crime or killed someone? I still hope that John Walker will continue to be Cap.
@@FF-qx6cl That doesn’t make him justified. He didn’t kill him because it was necessary for the cause but through his own anger. He’s incompetent as Captain America because parts of himself that did bad shit in Afghanistan still lives in him today. Steve only took the serum because he thought it could help other people. Walker took the serum for his own self gain so he could feel less insecure about his “weaknesses”.
The ultimate irony is, for most of his time as Cap, Steve stood against the government, corrupt government institutions, etc....and they even named him a traitor/fugitive multiple times. I am clearly surprised that they didn't try to strip Steve of his title post civil war when he was nomad...but pretty sure they were scared of the public backlash and the reaction from tony stark.
7:42 she's usually an associate of Shield in the comics, and they've confirmed that we were supposed to see her in Black Widow FIRST which would have made the reveal of her in this episode a lot more of a big deal
You know, like many, I'm definitely not the biggest fan of Disney, but I gotta give credits to them for allowing Marvel Studios to tackle darker and more mature stuff in the MCU. I guess that speaks volumes about how much they trust Feige, even when he's exploring things that don't fit their "family-friendly" image. This makes the future of the MCU so much more exciting. I'm now confident in the MCU reboot of the X-men, as well as the other upcoming TV shows.
6:24 I didn't realise Walker's arm had been broken, I just thought he was crying out because they took the shield from him. It left me wondering why his arm was in a sling later.
Remember the release order was meant to be Black Widow Falcon and the Winter Soldier Wandavision Meaning "Val" was meant to be introduced in Black Widow, FATWS continues the story and Wandavision sets up Multiverse of Madness.
Originally I think Karli was going to die, just to cement Sam decision to publicly take up the shield. Because it's someone he could have helped if he had taken the mantle earlier, she would be part of his regret. But after this episode. There is also a high chance that she survive, because Sam view is the contrast of Zemo and she is the evidence to Sam that he has to try.

It would have been cool if we got to see a little action of Isaiah against bucky as the winter soldier. 10 seconds tops but it would have been like a cool little Easter egg.
And as soon as a soldier is no longer useful, the government just casts them aside, even when they clearly need help...
exactly, as a vet, you do as you are told, it's what we do, and him saying he's right that's what he was taught as right, the civilian standards of right and wrong does not compute, as the circumstances we face have shown us it means nothing. Then they put him on bad paper with no benefits, messed up.
@@acevfx2923 Mcu or real life. Soldiers are expendable. Their life depends on the morality marks
I really hope us agent survives the show so he can be part of dark avengers or the thunderbolts
It's heartbreaking seeing Walker throughout this episode because he isn't directly bad but his military career has tainted and misguided him.
That’s what all war criminals think. They seek to blame everybody but themselves for their actions.
@@mileshill7196 I feel like you can sympathize with a person or character and not detach them from their crimes. Like what he did is wrong and can’t be justified, and he should be in jail, but I can still sympathize to a degree with his clear mental problems and the death of his friend.

I feel like Walker knows the guy he killed isn't Lemar's killer, but he has to lie to the family and is suffering internally for it. That would explain why he wants to go back and finish the job even without the title nor the shield.
The response from the family about exacting justice drove him further into becoming radicalized.
I love how excited Eric gets whenever Batroc shows up
The thing with John Walker's whole "Time to get to work" and continuously blaming the guy is that it's due to his military training and PTSD.

Sam was literally a grief counselor for veterans - He is the perfect person to help Bucky get better

I really appreciate Calvin's subtle "Yippee Kai Yay" DIE HARD joke, referencing the TV edit which changes McClane's line to "Mister Falcon." 😂
