      One thing that helps when I crappie fish is to look for little bait fish flipping on top of the water. You will not always see them but if you do there is crappie and other fish there more than likely feeding on them. Especially in the cooler temperatures when there is no insects. Just remember the slower you go the better for Crappie most of the time. But be fast on the hook set. If you keep fishing you will catch them sooner or later. Just get out there and keep practicing and once they bite remember what you did to trigger that bite and try to repeat it. Sooner or later you'll end up with the stringer full.

    Yeah, I used to get that same comment Pike fishing! That is until I took photos against a yardstick of each keeper. Then they couldn't comment against a 5' pike I caught on a Mepps #3, some asked where I caught it and I told them where. A "keeper" was three and a half foot long or 42" by my measure. We threw a bunch back to get bigger. I still go out for walleye at Smith Lake, AL and still make the trip to the St. Lawrence Seaway once a year for open season on Pike fishing. Great sport and tasty fish!

    • @FishYanker
      @FishYanker  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, you was probably doing it right Jeff but the large mouth Bass are spawning in there right now. and the crappie will move out because of the bass. You can fish in there with Spinner baits or plastic worms and catch the bass. Fish slow and touch the bottom off and on. If you still want to catch crappie try the Open water on the same Levy down towards the North end between the trees and rocks the North and North West corner where that parking lot is is good for Crappie. They should be moving up shallow now. I would set out a couple poles with minnows and bobbers out in the middle and fish the bank and open water with my jig and bobber. If you go back there I hope you get some good ones Jeff.

    😊😅this is Jeff carpenter again I’m live in Beebe. Would you be interested in showing me some of your techniques like a guided trip I would be glad to pay you really good at crappie fishing you should think about being a guide I believe you would have more business that than you could handle

      Last time I was out there wasn't very long ago and the crappie were not there no more because of the bass are on beds and will be there for about a month.

      Will the crappie come up in there after the bass leave and if they do when do you think that might happen thanks for your time

      Right now there are big crappie swim in the shallows getting ready and the females are staging closer I would say they're in the 4 to 5 foot range. Keep trying in the middle of that Creek and down where the lake opens up. All the way down that Levy should be good place to catch crappie very soon because they're fixing to start spawning. They will be closer to the bank and easier to catch as they start spawning. just don't give up keep trying you'll get on them sooner or later. Good luck
