I bought a car 2nd hand from a dealer and didn't know my car had one of these. I paid cash for my car, no financing. My car left me stranded sometimes and it turns out this was the cause! The company who installed it in my car was disabling my car for no reason, even though there was no lien on my vehicle. This is super dangerous because it can leave you stranded in an emergency situation!!

I know this video is a few years old, but I just wanted to let you know. The way they wired it, it was only for ignition on power. In order for it to be a starter kill, they would cut the wire, and 2 wires from the tracker would go to the splits. One to one side, one to the other. Also, according to that schematic, if they used that blue wire with a white stripe, it would cut the ignition power.

A lot of dealers put these on every vehicle they sell and they make you pay for it, usually $400 or more on the addendum sticker. Mine is called KAHU. They market it as a theft recovery device or "if you forgot where you parked" like it's for your benefit. You CAN pay a fee and be able to track the vehicle yourself but it's mostly for the bank.

Got one on my car. Haven't seen it yet but know its there because when I bought the car made sure not to install on star on it then took it into
dealer for repairs and they claimed the cars computer went bad. So they could put one on my car.
They never told me, never explained or anything, I learned about it when I was emailed and it mentioned on star.
Think I have a case for the all the anguish, pain and suffering ?
added: And there is nothing owed on the car, so what reason did they have to put a gps on my car ?
Have a good idea and it has nothing to do with crime. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Just pulled one off my truck.
Bought it from a used lot where they were legit with me and affirmed there was when I asked as part of buying (I've had a vehicle stolen, so cool, fine by me). For most of the payment term I had a Bluetooth OBD dongle plugged in before I removed it for an insurance dongle. Paid the truck off months ago, insurance asked for their dongle back and during the brief period while nothing was plugged in I noticed a green light flashing down to the floor board from behind the dash. Cleaner install than what you showed... Black and red tapped into wires going to OBD, green wire going into a relay wired between the cut white/blue.
Had to pop the lower dash off to get high enough in the dash to pull it free of the two-sided sticky Velcro and to get my Klein's up to snip off a couple zip ties. Bell-capped the white/blue on the relay sides of those joins. Truck starts so mission accomplished.
...now I just need to finish up my RaspberryPi based cellular gps tracker and get it installed so I can sleep at night again...

Thanks. The funny thing is, I took it to the dealer (not where we bought it - we purchased out of state) who said the same thing. But when he noticed the connector pin was askew and half out, he unplugged it and said "see if it starts". It did start and seems to be running normally. Just to be thorough, I'd like to verify that lojack is no longer transmitting data and that the whole unit is gone. Is there a way for me to be sure? Again, thanks!

A customer came to do some work and the obd2 plug looked weird told Costumer and he permitted me to pull it all out, at the other end was a GPS similar to yours tracking the car. Why but why do people sell cars and put a GPS on it, and add stated 2 keys and the customer only got one 🤔 are they trying to come and steal the car later, the car was paid in full why leave a tracker on? I have checked my cars for this device, and we don't have any mounted. Both our cars was paid for in cash and never had a lean or loan on them, so there was no need for a tracker. We also live in a place where car thefts are very rare, and if somethings happen the police will mostly know who to look at for this crime. We had a car broken into some years ago, and they did some damage trying to get out my after market stereosystem, but we actually got it back in a few days when the police paid the guy av visit and it was sittng on his kitchen cupboard. The damage of the break in ended up costing more than the stereo, so the fool paid it tree times over.

If they didn’t disclose they installed it, you can legally disconnect it. They would need a court order signed by a judge to enter your car to reactivate it and they would never get that approval without a trial. Just because it stops working doesn’t mean you tampered with it. It’s electronic, it can fail at any time.

Hi. I have a 2014 Ford Fusion with a parasitic draw. I actually found one of these gps trackers (not for me as the car has no loans). Hot wire was into the fuse box under the hood and grounded. Nothing else wired to it. I unhooked it and the car wouldnt start. Re installed it and it started. I looked inside under the steering column and by the interior fuse box, under the hood by the starter and by fuel pump. I literally cant find anything else connecting this thing or another tracker/disable unit. Any advice? My teenage daughter drives this car and I definitely dont want a tracker on it that I dont know about. The car dies if not driven every couple days. Battery is new and was re tested in case of a dead cell. Alternator is good. Factory radio, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
