    To date, 884 hours on my Craftsman DYT (Husqvarna). Agreed, the design is a little wonky but its an inexpensive residential mower. Wear and tear is inevitable but parts are cheap and its easy to service. Mower has totally surpassed my expectations; going on 16 yrs old and still cutting the lawn all summer in 2020. I did buy a new Husqvarna TS354X last fall because my luck has gotta run out soon with the old Craftsman. But I need to level my deck on the new mower. This helped, thanks!

    I fell for the hype of the Husqavarna brand 3 years ago and although initially happy at first I fell out of love with it quickly. It's lift and cut system was poorly engineered, the upper deck fills with grass and clogs up the vent ports. The deck height settings 1-3 are useless unless you want the mower to be a tiller. A gas guzzler, and with only 150 hours on it the deck height is out of whack which I assume is from worn pivot points like in your video. My old cheap MTD lasted way longer and that thing was abused unlike the Husky which was treated well. Will never buy another one. Thanks for the video, very will informed.

    I have a Husqvarna zero turn, and it's never cut good since day one when I bought it new. It's always left thin strips of uncut grass, like there's spaces between the 3 blades, and it's also never had good airlift to raise the grass that the tires has flattened. The way I solved the problem was by parking it, and just have it for backup, and I bought a different brand of mower with a fabricated deck, instead of pressed deck.

    Thank you. 3/4" socket works on that nut as well. I initially dropped the deck to the lowest setting and then tightened up the linkage to snug type- - not terrible but not good either. going to buy the gauge you suggested. I changed my blades out to high lift blades for a YTH 24V48 and although the blades I bought were the recommended blades, they are much wider and have higher tips on the end, which i assume will alleviate clogged bagger chutes with heavy material removal.

    Hi, I like your video it helps a lot. My question is when I adjusted the left hand side, the right hand side is not adjusting causing my deck not level. what's the cause of it?

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you adjust the left side up, the right side will lower. That’s how it works. If you lower the left side, the right side will rise. If you are 1/2 inch high on one side, you would only need to raise or lower the one side by 1/4 inch. As one side raises, the other side lowers by the same amount.

I have never seen a video where anyone suggests blowing off the deck and everything else on the mower or tractor off, and I notice that all the mower decks are always covered with grass clippings from previous use. Is there a good reason why not to blow it all off after each use?

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Blow it off if that’s what you want to do. My last mower lasted 15 years with no ill affects from grass on the deck. If grass on the deck bothers you,,,,,, blow it off. I guess that’s why you never see anyone else talk about it. It a case of , blow it off if it bothers you because it doesn’t hurt the mower if you don’t.

  • @USMC-Sniper-0137
    @USMC-Sniper-0137 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Remember, that's only to level the deck because tires don't sink into concrete like they do on the lawn. Lawns are softer so the cutting height can't be correct even if off by 1/2". And 4:30 that is a self locking nut. You can see the tell tale manufacturing signs on the dimples tapped into the side of the nut and they're not made for much use other than the occasional adjustment because they can bugger up the threads if wrenched up and down much.. Just use a good lubricant like WD-40 or something when need be. Remember to level front to back now.

      It’s not the deck you’re checking, it’s the blade height. The edge of the deck is not. Level all the way around. Since there is no lock/jam but, this is designed to be very tight so it doesn’t vibrate out of adjustment.

    Someone tried to return 8000 rolls of to & 150 bottles of hand sanitizer, but the store in Australia told them to stuff it.

    I could not put my dog anywhere near those chicks, he would think that I delivered lunch. Looks like you need a Charmin air drop.

    Hey Americans, you should really start to use the metric system. Thx for the good video. Cheers from Sweden 🇸🇪

      I have no idea why we don’t. In a world that is no small and virtually borderless where it concerns exchanging info and ideas, not using the metric system sure does complicate things.

      🥴 Don't suppose you taught your pups to retrieve? No sense sending them to the main house for a new roll.

    It feels hard because it is literally a punched lock nut! So it doesn't vibrate off!

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      . It has a nylon locking ring inside the nut.

    When your front lawn 20x12 you really don't have much use for a riding lawn mover. Even my electric is a bit much. The dogs have ruined the back yard.

    if you are this out of breath from kneeling down and standing up two times, you may want to switch to a push mower for a while ;)

      I was in a chemical plant explosion. While running from the explosion, I inhaled some burning chemical that destroyed my lungs. a pushmower would be impossible with what little lung capacity I have left. Arent you just the nicest guy.

    I have that exact same mower. You’re lucky you’ve gotten that much use out of it. They are complete pieces of crap. I bought a Husqvarna wanting to get better quality. What i got was a craftsman body with the cheapest moving parts known to man. Never again!
