Great list mate ive just subbed. Im 49 so back in the early 80's i remember seeing Zombies flesh eaters and city of the living dead. Now ive decided to re buy/watch allot of classic Italian horror films. Warched the new york ripper lastnight. Was mostly classic soft core porn! Lol Decent though. It was a project initiated by Argento for Fulci unfortunately Lucio's health took a turn for the worst (he had been sick sometime) so directing duties went to longtime makeup collaborator Silvio Stivaletti. It's pretty much a House of Wax remake It's quite competent and has some incredible visual effects and makeup
I agree that Four Flies is generally overrated. For sure having Bud Spencer in it is a major point; not a bad movie at all, but I don’t see why it’s considered by many to be among his best.
Ok your a Dario argento fan oviously I have a question hopefully u can answer this There’s a movie made by Dario argento (I belive) it’s kind of a giallo movie for sure well I have a very small memory of it I watched it in 2000/2002sih around that time well there’s a memorable scene of a girl getting attacked in a vechile , she’s parked outside her home and goes to get something and from the car and she gets. Attacked by someone wearing all clothes.”, if im not mistaken the killer ended up being a female, maybe a sister or someone in the film … does it sound familiar? lol 😢
I'm sorry but Trauma was a blast for me. Really myopic and weak review of that one. It is one of the best and most fun comedy-horror movies ever made and consistently escalating through the duration. Whether or not the comedy is on purpose makes no difference but I think Argento always left the door open intentionally to that element. Great film to watch alone but probably a good bit more fun even to watch it with some friends. Btw who else thinks somebody MUST write and direct and then cast a movie with Asia Argento, Paz De La Huerta, and Mickey Rourke and title it "Train Wrecks The Movie". If Leslie Nielsen can be cgi-ed into it that would be great too. Overlay of comedic lunatic lifestyles culminating in Airplane! type comedic disaster flick.
Stendhal , it was supposed to be the lady cop from the card player but she could not film so at the last minute Dario put his daughter in. That is why both cops have the same name. The name Stendhal Syndrome is a real thing where some people faint when they see great works of art. It is not made up.
Suspira gets a 9/10 from me. Tenebre, The Cat O Nine Tails, Four Flies on Grey Velvet( 6.) I have seen a few others, but no grades Have you seen the remake of Suspira?

I really liked Romero's part of _Two Evil Eyes._ Oh, that's a total fuck off = _Opera_ is Top 4. That's all there is to it. _Phantom of the Opera_ is terrible. What is wrong with you? Decent? I just watched Tenebrae for the first time, and the response it evokes in me is "By 1982, Dario Argento had finally figured out how to make a real movie." I consider it better than Suspiria.
The stendal syndrome absolutely is the worse Dario Argento film I've seen, that I've actually say down and watched. It just feels aimless, when the ending happens I am like "It barely started!!!" Have not seen Giallo, The card killer, Mother of tears, and his Dracula film. His last good film was Sleepless. Black glasses felt kind of like a return to form. Of Argento saying "I still kind of got it." but it falls flat for many reasons. Trauma was just an average giallo movie. Black glasses "it has captivating characters" ....I thought the characters were flat and boring as hell. I didn't care about the characters what so ever. The killer is bland and boring. My all time favorite Argento movies are 1.Suspiria. 2.Phenomenon. 3.Four flies on grey velvet. 4.Tenebrae. 5.Cat o nine tails. 6.Opera. 7.The Bird with the Crystal Plumage. 8.Deep red. 9.Inferno. 10.Sleepless. All the rest of his movies, I have not seen or I don't like and honestly....it took me about 3 watches to actually like Inferno. Part of that is because Inferno just felt like such a departure from Suspiria. Instead of that great Goblin soundtrack we get a completely different soundtrack, again by Goblin, but it's no where near as good as Suspiria. The color palette isn't as great, I can go on and on and on...but I've come around to Inferno.
The Stendahl Syndrome opening scen..is pure master class..and the music..o boy..

@@irish66 It's got some gory scenes in it but I've seen far far worse. It's nowhere near Terrifier level gore (if you've ever seen that).

I just watched Tenebrae for the first time, and the response it evokes in me is "By 1982, Dario Argento had finally figured out how to make a real movie." I consider it better than Suspiria.
Tenebrae is a great movie no doubt
INFERNO DEEP RED SUSPIRIA
The stendal syndrome absolutely is the worse Dario Argento film I've seen, that I've actually say down and watched. It just feels aimless, when the ending happens I am like "It barely started!!!" Have not seen Giallo, The card killer, Mother of tears, and his Dracula film. His last good film was Sleepless. Black glasses felt kind of like a return to form. Of Argento saying "I still kind of got it." but it falls flat for many reasons. Trauma was just an average giallo movie.
Black glasses "it has captivating characters" ....I thought the characters were flat and boring as hell. I didn't care about the characters what so ever. The killer is bland and boring.
My all time favorite Argento movies are
1.Suspiria.
2.Phenomenon.
3.Four flies on grey velvet.
4.Tenebrae.
5.Cat o nine tails.
6.Opera.
7.The Bird with the Crystal Plumage.
8.Deep red.
9.Inferno.
10.Sleepless.
All the rest of his movies, I have not seen or I don't like and honestly....it took me about 3 watches to actually like Inferno. Part of that is because Inferno just felt like such a departure from Suspiria. Instead of that great Goblin soundtrack we get a completely different soundtrack, again by Goblin, but it's no where near as good as Suspiria. The color palette isn't as great, I can go on and on and on...but I've come around to Inferno.

Gosh you're quite right. I went through all his films on wiki but there are a couple hidden in his 'tv movies' section I didn't spot
What? Stendhal Syndrome is the last great movie of Argento. The CGI is horrible, I’ll give you that.
