This must have had a recent decline because I remember it being quite good when I was last there in 2010. That's par for the course for Disney these days, though. Taking something good and turning it into something horrible.
My boys love the atmosphere at San Angel as do I, so we have eaten here 10-15 times. However, the food is always a solid 4 out of 10. We keep going and hoping it will be better but the food is really not great. I love mole but the mole at San Angel is flavorless. We went with a party of 6 last trip and really none of the dishes were great. The desserts aren't great either. Even the chips and salsa aren't good. We won't be going back anymore. We did enjoy the nice atmosphere. It's very crammed though. You can almost rest your elbows on the next table. La Hacienda across the way is so much better. We always luck out and get a window seat there to watch Illuminations from our seats. It's wonderful with the music piped in.
I worked at Tony's briefly in 1995. We were running 1000 covers for a dinner shift in a super cramped kitchen. We just wanted to get the food out with little concern for its quality. At the time I worked there, the Marinara sauce came in large plastic pouches.
The ribs at Yak & Yeti table service are MIND BLOWING! Seriously. I can't speak for any other dish on their menu but the ribs are life changing. I've eaten there 5 times and I get the ribs EVERY TIME. Please try them.
The marinara sauce out of Tony's is not out of a can, it's really out of a bag! It is preprocessed crap! It is the old WDW bottled marinara sauce. Yes, I cooked there and completely agree with you!
omg wow! I used to defend Tony's because it was a tradition for my family to eat there and the restaurant (especially the patio) is a beautiful place and it's in a great location... but we went this past February 2019, and wow, the service was TERRIBLE! Our waitress rushed us and was kind of rude and the food wasn't hot.. not even really warm... and it didn't taste very good. I'm so sad because I do love Tony's for nostalgic reasons.. but we won't be going there again for a long time. :(
Why is Tony's Town Square still there? How many kids have even seen Lady and the Tramp to know who Tony is anymore? Wouldn't it make so much more sense to replace it with Tiana's?
Especially being closer to the water, they could get really good seafood and make a really authentic gumbo and make you feel like you are sitting on the bayou of Louisiana.
The thing about Disney restaurants is 1. They will always be crazy expensive, and 2. There's a 50/50 chance that it will not be worth the money. However, one of my top favorite restaurants is the Colombia Harbor House. For my 6th birthday we ordered and went upstairs to eat. But 20 minutes went by, our food still wasn't there. So ok, we're never going to come here again if they have crappy service. But then about 20 workers come up with our food (as well as a FREE cupcake!), singing happy birthday and with a card that they entire crew signed, and the people who came up took a picture with me, and we still have the picture + card! We come several years later (we took a break from our APs) back to it, and it was the same- great service, awesome food.
Yak and Yeti was so bad for us both times. We went back a second time to give it a chance. Wow..I got bloody chicken and the food overall was bad however, the horrible service was even worse than the food. We were on the dining plan and the desserts came with the meal. We left before desserts were even served and I gave the manager a note about the experience on the way out. We usually have great service in Disney but this one dropped the ball. Oh well..lots of other great places to enjoy
Danielle Hill Hmmmm, that is a bad time...Danielle, did anyone in your party order the Kobe burger? Just wondering as this is what is so highly rated at Yak & Yeti and which I enjoyed my first time there. Looking forward to having it again this Saturday! I'll report back if with my second time experience.
+Rembrandt133 No..we have never gotten the Kobe burger. We hear great things about Y&Y in general so we were surprised by our experiences there. Hope you have a great experience there!!
Danielle I see. Well, maybe you'll give Y&Y a 3rd try and get the Kobe next time? You know what they say..."3rd time is the charm! ;) " Thanks, and have a fun 4th of July.
Has the food at San Angel been downgraded recently (like so many other things in WDW......)?? I ate there in 2010 and 2014, and the food was excellent. There was nothing about it that I would equate with being a "step above frozen food," and I eat a LOT of Mexican (it's my favorite cuisine). Just curious if this is a new development.
The problem is that the authors of this video (and most San Angel Inn patrons) don't know what real Mexican food is, so they have a problem when they encounter authentic Mexican food that doesn't resemble tex-mex or Taco Bell
Agreed. Folks think the because they hit up a taco bell or enjoy their Old El Paso Taco nights that they really like Mexican Food. I'e always found the San Angel Inn to be amazing food and great atmosphere. If folks want nachos and such there is a quick serve outside.
This is very true. Living in LA and being Hispanic myself, Ive been exposed to various Spanish, Mexican, and Latin style dishes. Trust me. Taco Bell and Tex-Mex is sub-par. Authentic Spanish style food has a different unique taste to it that depends on region, and preparation never mind the sauces. Ironically the Mexican restaurant in Disneyland over here makes decent food its not as great as say a homemade dish or ones from real places but its still decent. Obviously the ones at Disney-world are either suffering from bad management or decisions, or Florida racist bull has crept into Disney-world, as I'm sure many of the employees there are local or from Florida. In any case. If you have issues with the food and treatment. Reporting the issue is important. Here is another issue. There is also a possibility people get bad experiences due to how they present themselves at the establishments. way they carry themselves, treatment of staff, or behavior could depending on the situation result in bad service. Although this sounds like bad service from staff, or someone is being a little shit in staff. You guys should report your issue to DIsney. If a situation like this causes the mouse to lose money significantly he won't stand for that type of bullshit for long.
I cannot disagree with anything you guys said. It would be interesting to hear Disney respond to your concerns. My guess would be that they are cooking for middle america which is basically a bland palate.
First time watching! You should make a "worst/best bar or drinks" video. There are some great ones that I love but my friends and I just had the worst drinks at the new Hanger bar at Disney Springs... Straight up $20 juice!
well im surprised any disney resturant could get a scathing review personaly I always only ever ate at the Rose&Crowne in epcot there fish and chips phenomenal good
For us Rainforest Cafe was hands down the worst restaurant we ate at on our honeymoon; it was so load in there we couldn't hear ourselves think (and we still shout 'VOLCANO' at each other at loud parties!), the food was over-priced, poorly cooked and the portions were so massive the food waste just from our table was appalling. I get that some people like it for the atmosphere but there should be some kind of health warning before you book your table! Only plus side; the amount of alcohol in the cocktails! As a virtually tee-totaler I was down for the count after just a couple of sips! Love the short segments guys, they are perfect for lunch breaks and a quick Disney fix. Much love from the UK xxx
Good to know! I actually was going to eat at the San Angel Inn but got turned away because they were doing reservations only at the time. You and the host at the restaurant saved me from a potentially bad experience, especially since I compare all Mexican food to that at El Leoncito in Titusville, FL, which is the absolute best.
You are right. Yak & Yeti quick service is much better than the table service. The firecracker shrimp appetizer was really good. The entree I had was underwhelming.
mexico gave me food poisoning, but the areas fantastic and i remember going on the ride over and over again while waiting for my meal, i went on it a couple of months ago as a young adult ( same night i got food poisoing) and i literally saw some live cockroaches and rat traps
We had a great meal at Yak and Yeti! We had the Ahi Nachos appetizer, the potsticker appetizer and my daughters had the kid's egg roll. We only ate appetizers because later on that evening we were going to be eating at Sanaa.
I agree with the comment about the atmosphere in the Mexico Pavilion. Just go to the bar, grab a beer and sit on the fountain. You can thank me later. It's one of my favorite things to do when you just need a break. Either that or grab a beer in Japan and hang out over there. Also the worst restaurant in WDW is Coral Reef. The fish is prepared horribly and then you get to watch fish swim by as you eat their cousins. It's not good. Also Yak & Yeti is delicious. Order the dim sum basket for two because their cha su boo is amazing. You must have ordered the wrong things because all three times I've been it's been amazing.
It's been several years since my last trip to Disneyworld. At that time the only bad dining experience we had was at Mama Melrose's at Hollywood Studios. The only reason we ate there was for the seating package for Fantasmic. I would not say the food and service were bad but they were mediocre at best. I could have gotten better food at almost any chain Italian restaurant with some high school kid as a server.
I want to say thank you for this video. Usually the only videos found are Top 5, 10, 15, etc. BEST places to eat. It is good to find a well thought out reverse of this idea. Thank you.
I had a good experience at Yak & Yeti but have to agree about the San Angel Inn. Went there as a kid and had such an immensely positive experience with a very kind cast member that I had to go back 25 years later ignoring all the bad reviews. Extremely expensive terrible food, and had a seat with a great view of the bathroom.
A lot of the worse quick service restaurants have gotten updated and have become a lot better. I hope they do they same with some of these, because they could all be gems really!
Great show guys very interesting info thanx. I have been watching some older shows and just want to say how great Pete is looking, you have lost a lot of weight something I myself am trying to do. You have really inspired me, so thanx Pete :) xx
Thank you so much for this video. I'm planning a trip for my daughter and I next year. She could will be 3 so she could care less about the food. But Momma bear is a huge foodie!! I love the details y'all gave. I truly think videos like these are helping me make the best of my trip.
The table service meal me and my family received at Yak and Yeti was really good, we were so pleasantly surprised with it and thoroughly enjoyed our meal there!
I loved the captains grille. It was my husbands and I 's favorite restaurant on our honeymoon two weeks ago. He had a great steak and I had snow crab legs. The champagne they gave us there was the best champagne at any of the signature restaurants that we ate at. Also, our server was awesome, we even got to know his back story and he treated us very well . Complimentary dessert etc. Food was hot and delicious. Great great experience. I was floored to see this on your list at all! I have recommended this place to all of my friends going to Disney and we will surely return.
Ive only eaten at Yak & Yeti once but it was one of the best meals. had halibut over rice and daughter had sweet & sour chicken and we both loved it. i am booking it when we go back in March 2017 for sure. hopefully its just as good as i agree its hard to find good food at Disney parks.
The San Angel Inn is my second favourite in all Disney. I go there every visit. The lunch time menu is better than the evening. The atmosphere is the best. I do have the same thing every time which is the steak and I love it!
So true about San Angel Inn Restaurante. It was possibly the worst food I have ever eaten in my entire life. The prices were unreal for the quantity, but especially the quality! We will never return to that restaurant again.
In my opinion, Yak and Yeti is actually really good. I've eaten there a few times and enjoyed it every visit. The atmosphere is beautiful and I loved their dumplings and honey chicken.
New subbie and I love this vid. I haven't looked at more of your channel but will very soon. I truly love your honesty and the way you let others have their own views. Thank you for the info and reviews.
Totally agree with you about the Captain's Grille. My husband & I ate breakfast there a few weeks ago. Had the buffet. Could not believe how much it cost for what we had, which wasn't much because we didn't care for most of it. Had a fantastic waitress though. Won't go back.
I am so thrilled to see Captains Grill top your list. We went there for dinner after reading all the hidden gem reviews on the Dis. It was the worst food we were ever served in a restaurant although the service was amazing. We tried their breakfast which was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the 30+ minute wait after checking in for our ADR. The service was terrible this time. Never again.
Thanks for the list! I watched this video and realized that we booked the Yak and Yeti restaurant for our trip in June. Long story short, we cancelled that restaurant very quickly and rebooked at Rainforest because we've been there and loved it.
When I go to Disney I like to do a table service dinner as a way to relax at the end of the day. It's a way to make myself stop and relax and actually talk to the people I'm on vacation with. Magic Kingdom does not have a lot of table service restaurants so this past time we went to Tony's. We did not get something with red sauce because I shared a dish with my friend and she does not like red sauce. Kinda glad we didn't after watching this. I thought it wasn't bad, but there was nothing to write home about. I think that Magic Kingdom needs more table service places, and I would like them to serve alcohol. Now that Be Our Guest has beer and wine, others should follow it's lead.
We did Captain's Grille in April 2015 because of your review of the clam chowder (ok, I think it was your reveiw). Our first meal there was so good that we went back a second time during our trip. Our second experience was totally opposite of our first experience. Just days apart but two completely different experiences.
I went to the Captain's Grille 4 year ago and it was amazing. It was for brunch so maybe that was different, but the food was amazing for a buffet and our server (Lee) is by far the best server I have ever had.
My favorite resturant is the buffet at Grand Floridian, the dinner has the Cinderella characters and the food is really good and their is so many options to choose from
Totally agree with Captain's Grill. Just stayed at the Yacht Club over the weekend and had the breakfast buffet there. Not one thing on the buffet had any flavor to it. Sausage and bacon literally "mush" in your mouth, so ended up paying $22 for granola over yogurt. In general, so tired of dumbed down and room temperature food at restaurants at WDW. Thank goodness Boma hasn't fallen into that trap yet - the only buffet at WDW I've had with flavor and where the food was actually served hot. I think something is going on at the Yacht club in general. The hallways looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in days. Lot's of tattered furniture and carpets. It was not a "Deluxe" resort experience.
the Mexican Restaurant in Epcot, when it first opened was great..the food was very good..but you are absolutely correct. The last few times I have gone, it was just that felt like a tv dinner...and very very expensive
California Grill was disappointing the last 2 times we went there. We had a reservation and waited 1 hour after our reservation hour to be seated and wait staff never came over to take our order. We walked out.
I like the Captain's Grille breakfast buffet. I like to park there (for free), have breakfast, then walk to EPCOT. It is affordable and I love their tomatoes with cheese. Then, after firework show, you can slip out without wrestling the crowds. I have never eaten lunch or dinner there though.
We had great food, but the waiter lied about the cost (we asked, as my info for planning was based on old online info). The rest of the trip was left sparse on food, but the rest of the trip was incredible
Quick service usually offers better food for half the price or less! A lot of the restaurants think they can get away with poor quality food because of the atmosphere. It's a shame.
I have to agree with your list here, save for Captain's Grille. It may have just been a stroke of luck that I ha a good meal there, but it made a good first impression on me. While I've never actually eaten at San Angel, I can honestly say from looking at what people are eating while waiting in line for the Three Caballeros ride that it doesn't really look like authentic Mexican food. Atmosphere is beautiful though, I'll give it that. Never eaten at nor been into the other places so I can't really say anything about them, but I'll keep this list in mind while planning dinner reservations for my birthday this year. Thank you!
I had a really great duck dish with some kind of spicy orange glaze at Yak and Yeti a few years back. That was my only experience there and I believe it was a seasonal item. Also, the atmosphere at T Rex is pretty awesome and outweighs the food for me (which, while not GREAT, I still enjoy)
We eat at Yak and Yeti every time we come - I think it's all based on what you like. I can see many people not liking. Everyone has their own opinions - I love hearing WHY they don't like it, they make a lot of good points :)
I agree with all but San Angel Inn. We always get the same thing- Arrachera Con Chilaquiles- it is consistently good and we have had it several times. The thing is this is only on the menu at lunchtime. We enjoy the chips and salsa as well. We are always too full to get dessert.
question- for captain's grille, do you mean just the dinner, or both the breakfast and the dinner? my family's good friends with the waiters that work the breakfast shift, and they've always been good. just wondering. I've never been for dinner before
And again I agree with number 4. We did like the eggplant dish that was only offered at lunch time but since they removed the eggplant nothing was good. Last time we went there no one liked their sauce.
I've never been to the Mexican you mentioned because they told us it was fully booked, but the one just outside (La Hacienda) was amazing! I'm pretty sure it had exactly the same menu.
at yake and yeti my daughter and i love the tuna nachos and dragon roll. i guess i just got lucky with my choices. they are cheaper and i like them. my wife is a little more picky sometimes
Everyone has their opinion... The last time we were at San Angel Inn, we enjoyed our meal. Tony's Town Square was just ok and will probably not go back here. No comment on Paradiso 37 and Yak & Yeti because we never tried it. We thought the Captain's Grille was pretty good but then again when we were here it was for a small wedding reception that we photographed and the bride and groom invited us here for dinner. Maybe the service and quality was up since it was for a wedding. Loved hearing your thoughts on the restaurants, good video!
I was browsing through some top 10 Disney videos when I came across this one and as soon as I saw Ryno I thought that he looked familiar then I realized that we worked together in the backlands attractions about three years ago. You probably don't remember me, but I remember you because it's not often you meet someone with the name Ryno.
I can say that the Rose & Crown at EPCOT was bad. When we went in 2012, we ordered the bangers and mash dish which came out cold, sausages were stone cold near raw and the mash was near like wallpaper paste. So the waitress took that back and we ordered the fish and chips. Now because I live in the UK (north east of United Kingdom), I'm used to eating fish & chips on newspaper...that happened, which I was happy about (even though it was "printed newspaper" and not real newspaper), the fish was not cod, it was Kale (which is basically if you go to the UK and ask what Kale is, you will get the answer - "It's a poor man's Cod!") - didn't bother us one bit since we had kale once before we went to Orlando (we had it in the hotel the night before the flight lol), but what DID bother us, was the fact that the chips were also stone cold, the batter on the fish was greasy as and the kale fish was actually raw and frozen (THIS FISH IS SO FROZEN, IT'S STILL SINGING LET IT GO!) which could have given us food poisoning. The waitress then took no notice of us after we complained the second time and their excuse was "Well we're using english food techniques!" from the general manager, whom by the way, was from the UK and my mom berated her by saying "Well this is NOT how we eat our food back home, you should know that!" and she offered us free desserts, which mom refused by saying "how can you have pudding without a main meal before that!", so we just got up and walked out, refusing to pay for it since we never got a decent meal, hopped all the way over to future world and grabbed a burger.
I had the fish and chips in EPCOT too- not actually IN the Rose and Crown, but at that little stand right next to the R&C. They were amazing. And hot, and cooked well. They were so good I went back 3 more times during my trip and each time was the same experience.
I go to Yak & Yeti every trip, but I always get the same thing which is vegetable lo mein and I always LOVE IT and look foreword to it. So I don't know about the other food but my family always enjoys it too
The atmosphere of the San Angel Inn outweighs the food for me, I just love sitting in there.
Order a drink - don't eat the food!!
if you're gonna get a drink go to Cava Tequila next door
I honestly dont mind the food, I've been once I go again this holiday so I will see if i got lucky
This must have had a recent decline because I remember it being quite good when I was last there in 2010. That's par for the course for Disney these days, though. Taking something good and turning it into something horrible.

cyanmanta Tianas Place would be literally the best idea ever. And it's a classic so it's not like people forgot about it.
Especially being closer to the water, they could get really good seafood and make a really authentic gumbo and make you feel like you are sitting on the bayou of Louisiana.
Stunned that Tony's wasn't #1 on this list. So, so, so bad ...

The La Hacienda De San Angel (right across the way) is AMAZING.
nothing in Disney is cheap! one of my familys personal Favs is Columbia Harbour House next to Hall of Presidents.
Jimmy Bowen yeah that place is nice inside
Keep these minisodes about particular topics coming. It seems like ever since Dustin left there has been less and less content like this.
You are wrong about Yak & Yeti. You should try their kobe burger, best I've had so far.
Totally agree. Absolute fantastic burger.

Yak & Yeti was really nice. Been quite a few years iMessage and it's always nice, the only issue was not enough seating.
12:47 - 12:51 - I always remember this quote whenever I eat at a bad Disney restaurant.
First time watching! You should make a "worst/best bar or drinks" video. There are some great ones that I love but my friends and I just had the worst drinks at the new Hanger bar at Disney Springs... Straight up $20 juice!

Loved the honesty. (And the authenticity ;)) Great show!

Everyone stop hating it's His opinion you can have a difference
nobody's hating they're just giving their opinions like he asked lol
1:18 what I said when I went to the rainforest cafe in Niagara Falls,Ontario
I love this series talking about the worst and best things at disney world.
I could listen to Pete Werner talk about anything and find it hilarious! There should be a film reel of all his funniest comments.
I think a HUGE reason for this is Disney's attempt to dumb down the menus because of all the dining plans that they now have.
Ohhhh, yes that makes sense.
any chance on a top 5 BEST video? :D
I will never go back to Mexico in Epcot because I got food poisoning from it in 2002 and had to go to ER
My favorite restaurant in Disney is Yak and Yeti. I love it there. The food is great! Service is slow, but I love it!
We had a table service at Yak and Yeti June 11th and it was a Great meal!
Omg I freaggin love u. thanks for the honesty.
I didn't have time to eat at San Angel. But I really loved the enviorment. It almost felt like you were outside.
Really helpful for me and my partners next visit next year thanks guys
Thanks for the list! I watched this video and realized that we booked the Yak and Yeti restaurant for our trip in June. Long story short, we cancelled that restaurant very quickly and rebooked at Rainforest because we've been there and loved it.
Thanks for eating the bad food so I don't have to. HEHE!
Fozzy oml
good one
San Angel Inn is like a slightly better Casa Bonita. Nobody actually goes for the food.
Shelby Taylor i love casa bonita!
I wholeheartedly agree with San Angel Inn and Tony's. However, I have had great experiences at Paradiso 37 and Yak and Yeti multiple times!
My favorite resturant is the buffet at Grand Floridian, the dinner has the Cinderella characters and the food is really good and their is so many options to choose from
You hit the nail on the head in regards to Landrys. Disappointing across the board, i.e. Yak & Yeti, Rainforest, Trex, and Landrys.
What about 9 Dragons? Its Panda Express bad!
Hey, I like Panda Express. Yes, it's not even close to authentic Chinese food, but I really like their orange chicken.
+Taylor Ward too greasy. disgusting
Ash Ketchum In your opinion.
greasy. true
disgusting. opinion
I really expected 9 Dragons to be number one. There's a reason why you can always score a reservation there or even walk up and never get denied
"Pre-packaged in Boise" You're so funny, Pete!!
When was the turning point for Captain's Grill? I've eaten there a few times and really liked it, but it was a few years ago.
I recently ate at San Angel Inn and Yak and Yeti. Food and service were good at both restaurants.
Aw, we loved Yak and Yeti. We went on Mother's Day and all three of us each enjoyed our meals.
the Mexican Restaurant in Epcot, when it first opened was great..the food was very good..but you are absolutely correct.
5, San Angel Inn4, Tony's Town Square3. Paradiso 372, Yak & Yeti1. Captain's Grille
What would you say is better via Napoli or beaches and creams?
Thank you!
I love St. Angel in .... we go every year for the food and wine festival.
I've always had awesome experiences at Yak and Yeti. My food has always been great with great service.
My favorite restaurant at Disney is Trex Cafe at Disney Springs and my favorite quick service is Pecos Bill's Talltale Inn at Magic Kingdom
I had the best meal at yak and yeti 3 years ago and I need to go back! Those dessert wontons are amazing
I had a really great duck dish with some kind of spicy orange glaze at Yak and Yeti a few years back. That was my only experience there and I believe it was a seasonal item.
Also, the atmosphere at T Rex is pretty awesome and outweighs the food for me (which, while not GREAT, I still enjoy)
the San angel inn I thought had great food! my family absolutely loved it
I LOVE TONY'S! Always the first stop for me day one on a Disney vacation.
yak and yeti had the best food my mom and I ate all trip. amazing. we will for sure eat there again
Yak & Yeti's has great orange chicken though, it's amazing...or least from what I remember.
Thanks so much!! I'm going to change 2 of our reservations!!!
That is my family and I's favorite restaurant lol we go every trip to disney haha but different opinions and experiences :)
I had the fish and chips in EPCOT too- not actually IN the Rose and Crown, but at that little stand right next to the R&C. They were amazing. And hot, and cooked well. They were so good I went back 3 more times during my trip and each time was the same experience.
Dude don't know what you are talking about I went to Yak and Yeti last week and had the chicken tikka and it was amazing you need to try it
I go to Yak & Yeti every trip, but I always get the same thing which is vegetable lo mein and I always LOVE IT and look foreword to it. So I don't know about the other food but my family always enjoys it too
