It's interesting how Gary and James' final insights are quite different. James is fully determined to keep on fighting and living, no matter who or what comes to endanger the world. Meanwhile, Gary is a bit more doubtful... he probably sees Goldman's point regarding humankind's original sin... which is not really expanded on, but I assume is the typical message of us ever expanding and creating at the expense of nature's destruction... threatening the life cycle. Gary wonders if he did the right thing or not by thwarting Goldman's plan, and is a bit fearful of what the future may hold, showing he has less faith in humanity... but he hopes that, one day, he may get an answer to his doubts. Whether the answer is a positive one or not... that's something he seems to be both fearful of learning, yet uncomfortable for not knowing it either. Until then though, he pushes forward, hoping the final answer comes to him, somehow. When both are together, naturally, Gary expresses his doubts, while James is there to assure him that, despite not knowing an answer for Gary's doubts, he knows that they (as in, humanity) are the ones who need to find the answer. It won't simply be given to them - it's their direct impact on the world that shall reveal if defeating Goldman and the Emperor was the right move or not.
@@Kira22558 thank you! Yeah. And then both gary and james would have better voice. Although despite gary's role. His acting is fine except james. At least he did improve in hotd 4

One plausible rumor is that the dev team believed that the background noise of an arcade would drown out the dialogue. So why spend money on voice actors? I would like to stress that it is a rumor.

It is a sad thing that later in HOTD4 James will sacrifice himself for humanity

Extremely untalented ones 😂
Apart from who voiced Magician lol
Likely just English speaking people near Sega's HQ who did voice over work to help people learn English.

It was the 90s, maybe it was done like this on purpose. The first game is the same I think.
