In my AU, Gordon was built in 1915 by the GNR and is commissioned by the S&M to take their new express service. Sometime after the NWR was formed in 1925, Gordon was sent to Doncaster to be rebuilt into an LNER A1. Sometime after WWII, Gordon, along with Great Northern, were rebuilt by Thompson. Which caused Gordon some problems. In 1950, Gordon had an accident and was sent to Doncaster again. This time, he was rebuilt by Peppercorn. In 2015, Gordon retired from pulling the Wild-Nor-Wester and is now taking rail tours across Britain with Spencer.
My ideal Gordon isn't too different from the cannon. First outshoppped in 1921, Gordon was christened as the GNR's new number 1, but when the first of the production model A1s entering service, Gordon was seen as surplus to requirement, and so the newly formed LNER sold him off to the NWR. Later just before WWII broke out, Gordon would be rebuilt as an A3 but would have his original valve gear replaced with three independent Walschaerts valve gears. The rest is pretty much the same.
thought's on gordon being a Thompson A1/1 similiar to his brother great northern. in my AU gordon get's rebuild into a A1/1 in 1967 in memory of great northern who was scrapped in 1962.
I agree with this to an extent, I think his rebuild should be just into a standard a1, still would make him special because he would be the only a1 until 2006 when tornado was built.
Ya know, I can never understand the term mixed traffic. An engine is literally capable of pulling any kind of wagon or coach. I mean, let’s look at Rebecca. She was built as an express engine, but with no major modifications, we’ve seen her pulling trucks on multiple occasions. And during the war, the A1’s were tasked with pulling trucks. The only mods they had were black paint.
My au of gordon hes a lner a1 number 1471 he was sent to sodor due to henry terry was stuck on the tunnel on 1923 gordon was sent there he was named sir gordon gresley but in 1954 gordon crashed on a field (ya know gordon takes a tumble) he was rerailed and sir charles sir thoppam hat sent gordon to edward thompson And he was rebuilted into a A2/2 and he was fitted with sideplates and he has the golden arrow sign on his smokebox and sth renamed him to sir gordon thompson In 1985 his buffers crashed into a truck that it got flung the truck got flung and hit directly on his boiler after that he was fitted with a a3 boiler and dome now hes still working for the nwr

I guess Gordon being rebuilt as a mixed traffic engine makes sense given how much the Fat Controller puts him on goods trains.
I personally don’t think it does since the A1/3 were capable of doing goods work just fine.

Fun fact: the A0 classification is a fan-made nickname for Gordon. And nice to see a Thompson Pacific in this video. :)

Bro returned to this series at last lol, love your take on Gordon, in my fictional railway, there is an engine the same basis as your rebuilt Gordon
Also do you think i should have my ideal old shape henry be an Atlantic or a pacific?

I think you should do Toby. Even though everyone does a similar locomotive for their Headcanons.
To me, he was always mechanically a pure A1 with the different running board. Basically Great Northern but Gordon-ified
