Definitely The Cathedrals, The Maunsell 4-8-0, and the Standard Class 5 with Crosti - Boiler 4-6-0!!! Oh and the Standard Class 1s and Standard Class 8s!!!
Opinions on all of these: 1. Peppercorn 4-8-2 "Mountain" Class: Had Peppercorn done a 4-8-2 tender engine, it probably would've been the best express locomotive class on BR's roster (perhaps 9P?), but since they were introduced around the advent of dieselization, they probably would've had a short lifespan, plus their wheel arrangement would've restricted where they could go. 2. Gresley W2 "Baltic/Hudson" Class: Had Gresley taken the knowledge from the W1 and made it a better engine, this could be viewed as a lighter W1, and maybe have a more successful career than the W1, but since it looks like a diesel and has the traits of a steam engine, it (maybe an entire class if lucky) could've earned the nickname "Pretenders," and maybe gain a bit of a questionable reception to crews. 3. Hawksworth 4-6-2 "Pacific" Cathedral Class: I would've loved seeing something like this in action and since the design was to be the second of the GWR's Pacific venture, it definitely could work, but since Collett's King class already established and were refined as the 'top link' express passenger locomotive for the GWR, the business case for the Cathedral class is unclear. Thankfully, Caledonia Works made a model of the Cathedral Class for Train Simulator 2022, with the commissioners of the project writing their own fictional history for the class. 4. Churchward 2-10-0 "Decapod" 4200 Class: These would've been rated probably as 8F or 9F depending on specifications. I'm unsure if it would work though, because it probably would've upset the loading gauge of Britain's railways. 5. Hawksworth 0-4-0 1551 Class: This would've been probably good enough as a shunting design for large yards and mines, but since it's a Pannier Tank design and not a Saddle Tank like most 0-4-0's, this may have caused issues with clearance. 6. Riddles Standard 5 4-6-0 "Ten-wheeler" w/Crosti-Boiler: Since the 9F's performances with Franco-Crosti boilers were not very good, I assume that these probably would've performed similar to the 9F's with this, but maybe these mods could've been good if given enough experimenting. 7. Stanier 2-8-2 "Mikado" Marchioness Class: Like the P2's, I'm thinking maybe that they would've been good express engines, but they also would've had the faults that got the P2's rebuilt into Thompson's A2/2 class. 8. Riddles WD 2-8-0 "Consolidation" w/Gresley O2-looks: I have no idea what to say except...they'd come, they'd conquer, they'd die, and then they'd be resurrected by people who want to bring this unique design back. 9. Riddles 2-8-4 "Berkshire" Standard 8MT: These would probably have been very strong engines, and would’ve been good performers for simple mixed-traffic machines, however since the 2-8-4 type was not used in Britain, there’s a possibility that the design could go wrong and jeopardize them in some way. 10. Riddles 2-8-0 “Consolidation” Standard 8F: I think these would’ve been similar to the Standard 5 4-6-0’s, so there isn’t much on my end. 11. Drummond 0-4-4-0 M7: This would’ve been scrapped by the Southern because of how ungainly and off-putting it is and wouldn’t have been a very good design. Easily would’ve been Drummond’s Biggest Dud. 12. Maunsell 4-8-0 “Twelve-wheeler” class “Lord Nelson Goods”: As the nickname suggests, these would’ve been nicknamed as the Lord Nelson Goods Class by crews and generally would’ve been decent freight locos. Probably wouldn’t be as popular as the 8F’s or other heavy duty goods locos but they’d get the job done. 13. Collett 2-10-2 “Santa Fe” 9200 Class: These would’ve been a bizarre oddity in the GWR loco roster and I really don’t know how to feel about it. Maybe these would’ve been 9F tank engines to exist if they’d make it to BR stock. 14. Swindon Broad/Wolverhampton Standard/Swindon Standard 2-2-2PT: These would’ve been useless on most jobs the GWR had besides being a good looking museum promoter. 15. Dean 2-4-2 “Columbia” Improved 3600 Class/3900 Class: These would be decent suburban locos, so yeah. The reason why I’m calling the class as the Improved 3600 Class is because the 3600s were the only GWR 2-4-2’s and this would’ve been their successor. I also like to think that some 3600s would also be rebuilt into 3900s for improved performance. 16. Riddles 0-6-0 “Six-coupled” Standard 1 Shunter: These would’ve been adequate enough as shunters, but I’m unsure if they could do much besides shunting and short-distance goods trains. So, yeah.
00:03:32, I remember I had an idea in my HC where Percy had sibblings, and when all the 0-6-0STs were turned into Pannier Tanks, Percy's sibblings were turned into 0-4-0STs, and never expected that image to perfectly capture my imagination.
I certainly took up interest in obscure wheel arrangements, I frequented a video of a German 2-8-4 tank. I took up interest in a LSWR G16, having just found it when looking for long 42ft tanks to pair with a short tender loco (NBR Y10). Honestly, maybe send these concepts to Crovan's Gate.
The Standard 1 is strange.. That's because there is an LMS 1F and 1P. But no 1MT.. There have been attempts of a Standard 1. For example, one is a 2-4-0 Variant of the 2MT.
WD 2-8-0 beautified… makes me wonder what an S100 beautified would look like… Honestly I’m surprised that some of these don’t actually exist… but they should, like the 1551 class.
I recently have my own imaginary engine, it’s a combination of a Ivatt 4MT (Double Chimney Smokebox, Cylinders & cab) and a Caprotti Black 5 (Ten Wheeler base, boiler & raised running board) for the tender it’s a BR1 or BR1B Standard design because I wanted it to match the proportions of a Standard Class 5. For the name I call this Ivatt 5MT.
There is the 1916 L&YR Hughes 2-10-0 (concept) which would have been a BEHEMOTH! Like the idea of a "Super Cardean" Pacific too! Standard 5 4-6-2T, perhaps? A Robinson "Sarah Bernhardt" 4-6-2 Pacific? GWR Hawksworth 1200 Class "Monastery" 2-6-2 Prairie? Oh, and if you like Planes, Daniel.... I give you the De Havilland/Hawker Siddely "Violent" and "Sea Violent" (basically a massively upgraded Sea Vixen with Speys' instead of Avons'!). God, I LOVE twin boom jet fighters!
The Cathedral looks great, the 92xx is quite frankly, overkill. I went to the model railway exhibition at the NEC back in November and one of the layouts had a Crosti Standard 5 and I think a Marchioness running around, as well as several other locomotives that didn't get past the drawing board.

I legit don’t understand the preference for Thompson over Peppercorn Pacifics given what you mention about the 4-8-2 proposal. Expect aesthetics which is a personal thing. I’m not trying to diss on him since he had some good designs like the B1 and B2, and I have a soft spot for the A2/3 but I feel they were generally not as good in terms of performance reliability than what came before and after.
