We finally made it to Eldoret, the city of champions located in the Western part of Kenya. This city is known for all the famous long distance runners who were born and who trained there like the current World record holder for the fastest marathon, Eliud Kipchoge. At an elevation of over 2,700m, Eldoret is a prime location for runners. If they can perform at this altitude where there is less oxygen, they can then truly thrive when running closer to sea level.
Our trip started at Naiberi River Campsite and Resort where we stayed inside the Bill Gates room for two night. This place is fully in nature, and they have a really interesting restaurant that looks like a typical Rainforest Café. If you know, you know!

When in a new city, there is no better way to explore then with a local and this is why we hired Emmanuel on the spot to take us around. From the waterfall (Koromosho Falls) to ziplining at Tiret Resort and watching some brave guys diving 20m down into a Great Rift Valley trench, that day was nothing less than epic.

But exploring a new place would never be the same without trying the local food and in Eldoret those are mursik and nyama chome. For the choma, I have to say, it was probably the best one we have had in Kenya since we arrived tree years ago and the mursik was... Unique.

Glad to see you on the Kenyan Western circuit which doesn't get a lot of attention as far as tourism is concerned but still there is a bunch to do especially indulging in local cultures. Up next Kisumu, Kakamega, Elgeyo Marakwet and even all the way to Turkana where the land is truly magical. Thanks for venturing out of the usual "tourist" areas.
Elgeyo marakwet in iten is a super nice place and it's where all the popular runners in the whole world train and it doesn't get the attention it needs for tourism...it's definitely an amazing place.

Great video of your time in Eldoret. When the local people dive so far down into the water how do they get out with the steep rock walls? Those jumps look really intense. The food and accommodations looked amazing as usual.
They swim to a shallow area and get out
So they had to swim pass the bridge and then slim some big rock back up.

Sincerely, you make us know places. Naibiri River Resort is a good place to visit. Then you doing mursik is something else. You loved Kenya, but it seems like Kenya loved you back. I think you should now start going fully in Swahili or Sheng 😂

You need to visit Eldoret again and jog with the champions!
Although you may not get Eliud Kipchoge due to his fleeting schedule and feet😂... you can access the original legend Kipchoge Keino the 1960s global champion who paved way for hundreds of others.
Eldoret Fun Facts;
Before the creation of the State of Israel, Kenya was chosen to be the homeland of all Jewish people from all over the world. The fertile Eldoret plains was to be part of the new state. Scouts were send to explore and survey the area but never endorsed it hence the revert back to plan B to the present Israel.
*Shortly after that, the Boers/Afrikaners of South Africa developed interest. They sailed to Mombasa and trekked to Eldoret for settlement. They established homes and settlements but majority later on moved back to SA. A few remained and still some descendants can be found intergrated into the kenyan society.
Among the famous names of the early settlers was Frederik de Klerk's (S.Africa's last apartheid white president) grandfather.

For me, the one time ive been in Eldoret It was kind of a bland experience. Till now, I never knew there was so much to do 🎉

I went to University in Eldoret but it is an extremely boring place. Been back there only once in 15 years. Good effort in putting the city on the map
