Hello! Sorry to pop in randomly, Martin Melicharek here, developer of Silica. Thank you so much for looking at the game, I am truly ecstatic that you enjoyed it and indeed there is a lot left to do but I have every intention of delivering. Since Dune II, StarCraft I, C&C Tiberian Sun, and later Natural Selection 2, I have wanted to play in the desert scifi action of Dune first hand. Silica represents that desire and is also a concept dating back to before 2008, where I attempted it in the Doom 3 engine as a mod but lacked the experience. Retried in 2018 and went full time in 2020, and I can say I am happy with how far it has come but still has much to go before I consider it complete.
Anyway, on a tangent I went. Again, thank you and take care!

Will this game have missions in the future? Like campaigns? It looks great.
@@therealmcgoy4968 Silica does have a story esque mode called prospecting, but as of now it is just a singular mission that acts more like a tutorial. Hopefully we will see more on this concept!
@@therealmcgoy4968 Cheers! Prospector is definitely due to be more fleshed out, so that is a definite yes. As for a full fledged campaign, well I do not want to promise atm, but I definitely would like to!
As amazing as this game is, it's not getting any coverage at all on TH-cam or any other gaming media for that matter.
Its definitely disappointing that this game has been over shadowed. I do hope at some point this game will fight its way into the light! We have a good line up of RTS games set to come out this year.
honestly once quality of life features and AI get the needed upgraded i think it could be such a solid game! i love it so much

The only thing that I have to say is that the tutorial mission is a little boring and feels like the mission is to long for no reason. I can't say nothing more because my pc shuts down if I play other game modes (690 graphic card may be the reason). I really like the concept of this game and all the features that have, but maybe I should wait until final release. Great video and thanks for read. Have a nice day.

hmmm i'm running a 4090 but getting a screen of small flickering lines all over the game. Like it's a old CCTV camera. Anyone know what this could be?
Sorry I'm not too sure. I run with a 4080 and it plays pretty good. Maybe it's a vzync issue causing screen tear? Just a guess here.

Game is Great, I do recommended slightly high specs if you plan to play alot of the FPS aspect. The RTS aspect is almost butter smooth.

I have to agree, funny how this review mentioned nothing about this.
Generals and heros did the same with a WWII theater. Sadlly, greed took over.

@@Daiwulf574 Thanks for the reply. The game in current state is nothing alike it was. I did stop playing when such "debiation" took over. Don't know if its worth it now.
@@michaeloswal9847 Honestly a shame when companies make poor decisions at the detriment of longevity for a highly potential game. Ill still give it a go!
Failed to mention the considerable bad optimization and sometimes with only 7 players in the game, the game can stutter and even servers completely crash. The game does have potential and quite ambitious, but still needs work. The first 30mins of a match can be slow just to get things going and if your commander sucks its not good. And if you die, its weird, its like a huge delay, or get killed but still running, its not right. The non-vehicle combat is clunk city. People keep defending this game saying its in early access, but its been Early access for more than a year, and barley any optimization. But the dev keeps add things slowly. Just thought this should be mentioned, its not all sunshine and rainbows, but its not all bad either.

While I understand that you expect the game, due to it's appearance, to have a quick turnaround to that similar of Helldivers 2, you also must understand that Silica is currently being developed by ONE person.
It is not an indie company, let alone a triple A company, it is one person developing this entire game. Early access for games, especially games developed by indie developers need to be given a good benefit of the doubt for early access, a year is a completely standard amount of time to still have teething issues. I would rather have the game in early access than it to be "fully released" and not ready.
For example, 7 Days to Die has been in "Early Access" for 11 years, and still receives regular updates. Early Access is a great avenue for games to branch out and grow for indie developers, rather than triple A games releasing games without a bet a period.
