    I just got these irons last week and am loving them. It was a tough decision to go with these over the Forged, which did feel better to me, but as a new player (~2 months now) I was hitting the Hot Metal more consistently so I felt like they were the way to go for the next season or two. I know I will end up buying a set of the forged irons in the future, though. They just feel so sweet when you make a solid connection.
    Also, for anyone interested, these replaced my Costco Edge graphite irons. Graphite shafts were the only ones available at the time I bought. Still hitting the Edge driver and 3 wood, but plan to get fitted for a driver over the winter.

    I just got fitted for these. They are absolutely awesome!!! The ball flys off the club face. These blow the Ping G425’s our of the water. No comparison. Best irons I’ve ever hit.

    I love my JPX Hot Metal irons with Recoil 90 shafts. As you found, they are 'long and strong' and produce a high, very pleasing trajectory. In addition, they look exceptional in the bag.

    I’m returning to golf after a stroke. My swing speed has really dropped and getting the ball into the air has really become an issue. I use to be a 8 handicap but now am shooting in the high 80’s. I need an iron that will help me get the ball in the air and this review has directed me to an iron I never even considered. We are in lockdown here in Melbourne Australia and as soon as I am able I’m off to try these clubs!

    I don’t usually sit and watch other amateurs play golf (I don’t even like watching the PGA when they play with athletes, etc…)…but this was great, and informative! I’m shopping new irons right now. I’m 52, but just had my second hip replacement. So, I’ve lost some swing speed (might come back some…I’m only 2 months out from surgery). But, my irons are 5 years old and it seems there is great tech out there for player and player looking irons that give some distance. I used to hit my 7 iron about 145, now it’s about 135, e.g. I play a blended set of Callaway CF16 Apex (5-7) and Apex Pros (8-PW) and love the set and size of the irons. So, looking to do something similar (blended set). Thinking either the JPX 921 hot metal/hot metal pro (I love Mizunos), The Srixon ZX/7/5, or the Cobra Forged Tec/MIM Tour irons….I was originally thinking of canning the 4,5, and maybe the 6 too, and go with hybrids as those clubs are getting harder to hit higher, but this video is making me rethink that…Great job!!

    Bought the 919 series and was fitted with 2 deg. more loft and 2 deg. flatter. Manufacturers are making these clubs with less loft compared to previous ones to make you think you are getting increased distance. As a high handicap player (100 for 18 holes) I do appreciate the extra size for my bracket. Purchased the 6I to SW along with a H4 and H5. NO regrets what so ever. Beautiful design, great feel, except that H4 gives me a little trouble at times.

    have been testing 2 JPX921 iorns - demo,s -JPX hot metal and JPX forged . I,m a high handicapper , so far the hot metals far ahead for a player of my level, and I have decided to go ahead and purchase them . At first I thought the forged would be the " feel - all club etc etc etc " , but the hot metal easily ahead for forgiveness and distance and suited for my handicap. Got fit for Mizuno 921 HM Pro's a few weeks back with KBS C-Tapers. Had my whole bag with a set of Mizuno 850 Forged irons get stolen out of my truck a month or so back. Forgiveness and distance definitely better with the 921 HM Pro's, feel felt very similar, but we'll see once I start to game them - I'd be OK losing a bit of feel given more forgiveness. I have owned a set for several months. For the average golfer not getting maximum stopping action is not a big deal because most of us tend to come up short anyway. The rollout is a bonus. :-)

    • @william_hartman
      @william_hartman ปีที่แล้ว

      It always annoys me a little when a reviewer or someone compares the longer rollout/lower spin compared to a traditional lofted iron. They need to compare it to the traditional iron that has the same carry distance. Of course the 175 yard game improvement 7 iron is going to have worse stopping power than the 140 yard blade 7 iron, but compared to the 175 yard blade 5 iron I bet the stopping power is similar if not better on the GI.

While I get the smaller profile thing, (I'm not a fan of super enormous soles and inch thick toplines) at some point I need some yards to reach greens without hybrids or hoping I can roll it on. Nothing is more disheartening than hitting an iron well and seeing it come up short. My Adams A7 irons have lofts that are straight player iron lofts. I just bought the 921 Hot Metal Pro's and found that they offered almost the same distance and forgiveness with a good feel. I couldn't tell the difference between the Pro and the Forged and would challenge any club golfer who says he can tell the difference to a blind test...maybe a video idea there. PS nice looking greens on that course (but looked rather flat).

    I've been demoing these and the Pings for a little bit lately trying to figure out what I want to upgrade my 20+ year old current clubs to. So far they are neck and neck from a distance standpoint, I haven't seen the distance change, which is weird. Maybe it is because I haven't gotten to the 4 and 5 iron yet. Mostly just been in the lower irons and 7. Have to see when I go get fitted. Leaning toward the Pings only because my dispersion is a lot tighter with the Pings...

    Got fit for and custom ordered the Hot Metal Pros about 2 weeks ago. Eagerly awaiting their arrival. We ordered them with weaker lofts than standard to hopefully keep gapping reasonable and give me a little more spin/stopping power. PW - 5 going 45, 40, 36, 32, 28, 25. This seems to be turning into a trend with a lot of club manufacturers right now. Rick Shiels was talking about how manufacturers are altering the loft of clubs and in essence creating clubs with the shaft length of say a seven iron mated to a five iron loft. There is nothing inherently wrong with this but I can see a problem during a fitting if someone isn't aware that the lofts of all the clubs are different and the person only hits, say the seven iron during the session. It gives the impression that you are hitting the ball longer with the clubs (you are, sorta) but that is because you are hitting a seven iron with a five iron loft. The issue lies with the mixing in of traditional high lofted clubs. If you own a set of traditional Gap-Sand-Lob wedges and then use one of these lower lofted pitching wedges you almost need a fourth wedge to fill the gap. Again, not an issue in and of itself but the buyer needs to understand this before purchasing the clubs, and probably should hit all the irons before buying.

      when i was fitted the pro always said with each club i tested the name of the brand and the loft. so i thought that was great.
