In this video, Greg will show you all the exciting features up close and give you a good indication of the performance you can expect with the terrain he has available in good ol New England. Enjoy folks, this was a fun video to make! UPDATE (9/30/23): I was using Helios soft case batteries for testing and just found out that hard-case packs are a super tight fit, like super tight. So look at soft case packs unless you want to Dremel the opening.

I've come to realize that RC4WD has great scale looking and functioning model rigs. Key word (model). They're certainly not bashable. With that said I love my RC4WD for what it is.
Definitely want that whole drivetrain for other rigs.
Its refreshing to see something entirely new from RC4WD.

Excellent and thorough review that tells you everything you need to know. Really liking the scale realistic details but would've been nice to at least have LED lights included as standard.
I agree, at this price point one would expect some working LEDs.
Finally a 1:10 scale with 2 or 4 wheels drive. Even though it can be done with the vanquish trans. Liking this new rig.

Now a review by someone who paid for their rig..
The decals were peeling off already when I received it (no replacement decals sold either), all panels are different colours.
The pod filter fell off in the box, the seats are not to scale, way too small.
The 3 micro servos are under constant and considerable pressure when in: 2wd only, diffs are locked or in 2nd gear - these servos will burn out fairly quickly depending on use.
Mine struggles to shift into 2nd gear already and it hasn't left the house yet. The servo savers are fragile, don't tighten too much, one of mine broke. The cables are ultra thin and fray easily when trying to reinsert.
The 2 gear diffs click / skip, RC4WD had room to put in 2 more gears for extra strength but they cheaped out. Both ring gears were already loose on the diff bodies after 2 in the house crawls.
My transmission also clicks / gears are now skipping under load (sounds like transfercase gears), the planetary gears and the sun gear are tiny and moulded, not machined, these won't tolerate too much hurt at all.
The difference between transmission ratios is good though.
The driveshafts have circlips on the pins, these will be quite vulnerable to popping off on the rocks, a cheap design as is the use of phillips head screws which takes me back to the 1980's..
The shocks have 2 drops of light oil in each, 1.5 drops of which has already leaked out already.
As a massive Erik Miller fan, I wanted to love this rig but it's just been designed so poorly and cheaply made that I can't recommend it to anyone. I regret buying it to be honest.

Run super thick oil in them. They look very similar to the rrd shocks and I had those on a crawler build of mine. I ran 50wt diff oil and they worked great.
It's a Great looking rig. Hopefully, this means that axial will bring back an updated wraith.

What a beautiful scale rig. I love the "Martin crawler" i think its called' anyhow haven't pulled the trigger because of the price and hearing about reliability issues I'd be very curious to see a follow-up video on this one I may have to pull the trigger LOL I think it's a perfect little Runner the Bop around with nothing major just to have fun with and then put her back on the Shelf.
The body color could be better then the yellow black but the Rock Racer himself looks good

I like the LS motor in it
I'm a big rc4wd fan they make some of my favorite monster truck wheels and parts but their shocks while looking super scale preform like crap, I just wish their scale shocks preformed half as good as they looked. once they figure out how to make a good working scale shock, they will be unstoppable.
Come on Greg , I know you have that new arrma just waiting to upload 😂, very cool to see companies making the rcs scale , we knew it was only a matter of time . People have to remember if you want scale , you have respectfully drive scale , there’s a reason rcs buggies got away from scale in the beginning, “ for pure rc performance. Also scale speeds are ridiculous, 30 mph 8th scale is equivalent to 240 mph , so rcs were and are way ahead of this concept
An awesome looking rock racer with a lot of features but seemingly with some technical design issues, sorrowly 😢 I'm looking forward for a V2. Until then I'm going to enjoy my Wraiths 😉

I took our display model and jumped it at the skate park. It held up well. I wasn't launching it like a basher because I didn't have enough speed but I was dropping into bowls. had a bunch of tumbles and smashed into a grind rail with no issues. My only gripe is why did they not use RC4WD tires and a more powerful sensored system to get the rock bouncer pop?
One small detail I don’t like, is that it has Method wheel branding, and RC4WD makes a lot of Method wheel replicas, but that’s a Walker Evans Racing wheel design. Method doesn’t make that style
Before sending expensive RC’s to TH-cam influencers: fill shocks with oil! 🤪
I got hoodwinked by the Wendigo, I can’t trust that this would be any better knowing the unspoken about issues with that now and seeing some of the things you’ve pointed out here.
It’s a great looking scale model but there’s no way you’d trust it to actual U4RC, it looks like it would tear itself to (many many) pieces.

@@pandemio7058 it goes through cv shafts and axle shafts like batteries, the centre of gravity is terrible, the quality of the driveshafts are terrible with the plastics blowing out or pins shearing. It’s got too much power for it’s own gears so you need to get the metal ones and there’s really sketchy parts support, it already seems like it’s being phased out. I almost need to get a second one just to keep mine going. I got it without knowing enough or having a community to ask based off reviews on YT by dudes like this and it’s been nothing but a lemon. You’d be better off buying a second hand wraith or bomber from every angle.

The tires tell a scary tale. The fact they are JDM tires leads me to believe that JDM is the actual producer and not a RC4WD item. I hope im wrong but if not there will be basically zero support for it.
I use super glue and loctite and fix both of those problems I had the same issue within like 5 minutes on and it

I've disliked RC4WD since they ripped me off on some clod crawler parts in 2007, but dang this thing looks amazing. I might have to take a chance on them again and get this one
