I feel like after the two game five sets with leffen (reverse 3-0) and wizzy, along with playing zain who’s arguably the best in the world, he was spent.
10:14 "I usually think about Zain as basically Armada-esque" I really think the same regarding their in-game mentalities, it feels like Zain took up the "iron champion mental game" from where Armada left it. It's really telling that it feels shocking to see him NOT make it to grand finals. Also, Mango being able to consistently win with 2 different characters is just so nuts man.
I agree, Zains floor is incredibly high and it has been for quite a while, even before he became arguebly the best in the world. Armada and peak hungrybox are the only fair comparisons imo.
18:26 such good words by Phil man, honestly really touching. So glad to see Phil on the couch for this with HMW and Scar. Know he stepped away from commentating for a while but he's humble as fuck and speaks for the people!
12:30 this is like one of the greatest showcases of mang0's mixup brain. zain misses the followup. most falcos drop through the platform, try to whiff punish that, marth shields it and grabs them. mango short hops, falls through the platform as though he is going to take center or do a fall through aerial, double jumps away as his first mixup, zain successfully falls for the bait and does a dashing short hop directly into a laser. most falcos go in here and get take laser faired, mang0 stands there stone cold and does a second laser in place. zain powershields, and mang0 takes the laser, does a few dash dances, zain jumps in with fair again, mang0 shields it, waits out the move zain uses to cover the landing (in this case jab), and then does not a wavedash forward out of shield, but ANOTHER laser in place, and then AGAIN not going in, does a little mini dash dance which dodges zain's take laser dtilt, which mang0 cleanly gets in on with an approaching laser. so we see a retreating laser disguised as a reckless approach, a laser in place where most would reckless approach, another laser in place where most would reckless approach, and then a dash dance where most would reckless approach, followed by a clean, safe approach. and you know that he has the reckless approaches on deck, so zain is thinking about that too, which is why he falls into trap after trap and doesn't capitalize on positions where he might have been able to press for an advantage. because the threat of mang0 just hurling himself at you and thrashing you for 80 damage is just too powerful
Shoutout to zain for getting 3rd. I know he wanted to win but maybe next year and Im sure he will be studying the footage. Also can't wait to see zain at genesis.

man zain was definitely off that day. lots of missed inputs and no adaptation to the mash out of pummel. scar was saying that he sees zain kind of like armada and that it was crazy to see him just get taken over like this and i agree
Zain really felt shaky, which is very rare for him. His decision making still seemed like the usual, but since he wasn't biting back as hard as he usually does Mango could bully him much more and keep him in the defensive
This is not a dig or trying to undercut mango though. Dude's been playing amazing and probably woulda got an amazing set against Zain in pristine shape
When you double jump, a little smoke ring will appear around the character's feet for a split second. So when you see that ring, you know that they've used their double jump. It's really hard to see the ring, especially on some of the lighter colored stages.
Pretty annoying they put this set last in the playlist and grands second to last. I was trying to avoid spoilers by squinting my eyes and just selecting the next video. Of all the videos to have out of order
Mango may not have won it all, but he absolutely shut everyone up that thinks that he doesn't have an argument for best in the world/GOAT status. The meta has evolved, and Armada would NOT be able to come back and dominate like he used to.
@@trashman1791 nah don't think so, he prob would gassed either way. IBDW was on point today. Mang0 was just playing way bad early on, so he must had to use a shit ton of energy to get in good shape. big time agree, he was definitely off this summit but he is dominant and I expect him to be back in form for Genesis
I've had the same thought. Students of the game, consistent.
Well he didn't consistently win when it mattered with fox against Zain, he got destroyed 3-0. He only won as Falco.
