    Soil pressure is checked for service load....

    • @civilmdc
      @civilmdc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. Soil pressure is checked against Service load (1D+1L). Because we have already used much bigger factor for material side (I mean for soil)...........(soil bearing capacity divided by 3.)

  • @insightsofcivilengineering6772
    @insightsofcivilengineering6772 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sir why bearing pressure of soil is only checked for DL and not Live load.....It should be checked for both of them na??

    • @civilmdc
      @civilmdc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should be checked with both

    Sir, if the bar size is restricted in designing like if we have to use #8 bar, then how could we set that in SAFE ?

    • @civilmdc
      @civilmdc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When we see in design in safe...for reinforcement...
      We can select#8 bar with desired spacing....

    In a complete project, if the footings are directly assigned to the columns, the stiff portion is still necessary to be assigned to the footings ?

    • @civilmdc
      @civilmdc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is because... We design the footing with... Moment at the face of the support...

    • @civilengineeringwitharas4776
      @civilengineeringwitharas4776 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean the loads and moments directly will be transfered from the columns to the footings,and the footing will be design for that loads and moments, so why we still need to assign stiff to the footings ??

    • @civilmdc
      @civilmdc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please check the moments ... with or without stiff element ... you will understand the difference

    • @civilengineeringwitharas4776
      @civilengineeringwitharas4776 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please bro provide a tutorial on how to design isolated footings in a complete project not as a single element, I mean a building with all elements( beams, columns, slabs, and footings)
      Jazakallah...

      Perform manual calculations and then compare with safe.
