So there is a short clip on Spotify that was retweeted by BTS official twitter of Hobi answering the question should he put out the flame or burn brighter. It's all in English too so it's easy for us international army to understand. It's exactly one minute long and he pretty clearly states he decided to "burn brighter". Yes!!! I actually got the idea by the end that it was posed as a rhetorical question. Like of course he wants to burn brighter. And we are all here for it!!!
This, yeah- it felt pretty rhetorical to me, too, that question. Because he literally is burning in the MV- clearly he chose the fire. And More tells us that, too- 'My work makes me breathe, so I want more.' Breathing- air- fire also needs air to continue burning. He's feeding his inner fire with the air of his music. I mean, even with all that set aside, he wouldn't have released the album he's been putting together for- what, two years?- if he'd decided not to keep burning, or so it seems to me. If I'm remembering right, the question of 'keep going or quit while we're on top' came up earlier in their career, like 2019 or so, and if my memory serves, Suga talked about how they first thought that shutting down at their height was the way to go, but then they decided they just want to keep going. To me he is showing himself as the greek mythical creature of the phoenix of the old burning and out of the ashes something new comes. This is what I feel like he is saying with this song. I feel like J-hope is saying that he has been going non-stop for a long time being the sunshine we all know and love; but now it is his time to show the othe side of him. To me he is showing himself as the greek mythical creature of the phoenix of the old burning and out of the ashes something new comes. This is what I feel like he is saying with this song.
