I used treated 2x10 lumber, which these days is much safer than arsenic treated lumber before the year 2000. I also, nail in a single run of 10" galvanized steel roof flashing onto the side of the board facing the dirt. Bend the extra 1/2 inch of flashing over the bottom of the 2x10 (which is actually 1.5x9.5). This will prevent the board from rotting and drastically reduce any treated chemicals leeching into the soil. My bracing posts in the corners in the middle are 2x4 cedar. I also sit my boards on paver blocks, going all around the bed to keep them off the ground. The bed will last 2-3 longer than non treated, non cedar wood.
Great video. Thank you. One question: How much will it cost to fill this big planter with soil, and do you have a favorite DIY potting mix recipe for this? Again, thanks for sharing! 🥦

I'm a rookie at this, I made a sandbox for my kids with wood of lesser quality but didn't pre drill any of the holes and regretted, Is that step not necessary with cedar or did I just miss it?
give her a drill driver cause i don't like it when i'm working & the woman supposedly helping me just talks like i showed my girlfriend how to assemble the bike handlebars brake & gear cables then supervised her on how to mount & adjust the chain to the spokes she was so enthused since she was so eager to ride up them thar hills
...are you kidding me right now? diy at home by yourself? ummm, yeh that's a NOPE for me. here, cut these 45 angles, then cut points for spikes, yeh. if I were that good at wood-work, I wouldn't need this video. sorry, changed my like to a dislike. next...

Check out "mel's mix for raised gardens." that's what we use
The planter looks great! How do the mitered cuts hold up over time?
Very cool but cedar is very expensive
Jim, my guy! Pretty slick with tools man. Nice job.
I am not sure what happened but my cedar raised bed inner struts started to rot and became very soft after a year
What is the cost for materials??

Unfortunately, such good materials.
Is cedar good for building a fence to avoid termites
Western Red Cedar is naturally resistant to rot, decay and insect attacks
Looks good but cedar expensive.

Just got actual 2x6 dimension cedar at a local sawmil for $12 a board. They're rough sawn and from 8' to 10'.
Are all ends of 2 x 6's cut at 45 degree cuts?
Are you using 3 - 2 x 6 boards for height
Yes
Very nice job but I just dont understand why you would spend so much money and time and not even use any glue.
SAFETY GLASSES, MISTER...
Seriously. I found myself holding my breath while he was making his cuts.
What’s her name?
👌👌👌
Wood is amazing, the design...not so much. Those joints will open up.
Where are his safety glasses?
He donated it to the frontline workers
Me and my dad made a huge one the you can sit on because it’s so high😂
Nice work!
Nice job but safety is out the window. NO safety goggles!!?
WHERE THE HECK ARE YOUR SAFETY GLASSES??!?!?!? I would never use a miter saw without eye protection.
He had 3M Bluetooth Safety Squint 2.0 on 🤓

settle down Chad.... if you can't cut a simple 45 mitre without wetting your panties then yes hire a real man to do it for you
It matters none, a like or dislike is just the same regarding the TH-cam algorithm. A comment is even better… 🫠
