    I am a ChiaoGoo Queen too. I own Twists, Spins too. Mini sock 4"&5"- and both 4" & 5" complete sets and even own their DPN set too. Then I bought their empty fixed case and a small empty case I use for crochet hooks. I also bought extra cables both Twists and Spins, sizes 8,14,22,30,37 and 50" , adaptors and connectors to use US2-8 With the mini cables and connectors let you use two ( or more) together.
    For a new person to ChiaoGoo buy a 5" complete set and add a few 4" tips, extra 37 &50" Twist cables. If you knit socks consider the mini sock sets 4 or 5" tips.
    I love your review.

      I'm impressed by your collection of needles etc. I see you recommend a 5" complete set and adding some 4" tips plus some cables for someone new to Chiaogoo. I would like to understand the choices people make by choosing 4" or 5" tips so I'll know what will work for me.

      Eileen Hines the five inch fits my hand better putting less stress on the joint, where tips and cable meet. I need the four inch only when I make hats or other projects that need tiny circles. For most five inch are more comfy. If you have tiny hands four inch might be better but my hands are medium to large size. You want to avoid bending and stressing the connection of any circular needle.

      Thanks for responding! I am going to get the Chiaogoo 5" Twist Red Lace interchangeable set and I'll add some 4" needles tips and cables. I went to a LYS and handled the different needles and sizes. I see what you mean about the 5" and I really like the feel of the needles. I've only used wood up to now. I'm quite happy and looking forward to knitting with these!

      Thank you for the insight! I'm a crocheter who's interested in starting to knit. Doing the needle research. I don't think I want to get coated ones because it rubs off apparently. I want them to last a lifetime. Have u tried the new cables chiagoo came out with?
      So yeah I was going to get the 5" red set, a set of the minis to use as flexible DPNS, some of the 2" cables as well for that. Maybe a couple 4" ones for hats. They also have those new cables that are flexible like the red cables but also swivel that came out with their FORTE set. Unfortunately that is sold out or I might have gotten those.

    Chantelle, I completely 100% agree with you! Thank you for sharing all the information. On thing I have to share about the Bamboo needle. When you showed how to connect the cable to the needle, you hold and tighten the in the middle of the needle. Better to hold it closer to the metal part. Mine came apart!

    Only 3 years late to this video, but I LOVE my ChiaoGoo needles. I tend to use both steel and bamboo needles, so I bought both sets. I loved the tips, but I was not much of a fan of the nylon cables, so what I did was buy an extra set of the wire cables to use with the bamboo tips (because I can't bring myself to commit my time to a single project, so I've gotten plenty of use out of the cables), and that's been working perfectly well. Loved watching your videos discussing the whole series of ChiaoGoo products so far, you've even convinced me to get myself the interchangeable crochet hook set (I currently use the Denise set, but I really don't like the cables for that set)!

    A full CG convert here too, need to add some bamboo tips to my stainless steel collection as silk plays much more nicely with a more grippy needle. Being able to use steel or nylon cables with my steel tips is great, sometimes the flexibility of nylon is needed, especially when starting a pi shawl/blanket.

    I received my “small” set of 5” red lace interchangeable needles from Amazon today. I love knitting with the various fixed length Chaio Goo needles. I was initially worried about losing the tightening keys - they are small - however, I have plenty of T-pins for blocking. Hmmm…turns out that should I lose my Chaio Goo keys, I have an endless supply of replacements 😃 I can’t say that these T-pins would work for all connector sizes, but they are identical to the keys that came with my set. I’m so happy with my new needles 😊

    I just purchased the complete four inch set bought two extra cables at a good price in I used Addi turbo nickel plate regular circular needle I always loved how fast it went knitting. I had bought myself a complete set double pointed needles by them before love the case and quality needles so I decided how I like there quality I decided I would get the interchange circular needles set I even bought pack red hearts to work with putting cables on. When I was thinking and a searching for good set interchangeable circular needles listening to you and reading other customers through about the needles set they bought. I appreciate your candor about all the needles I learn more about them too, I always a firm believer good equipment is most important to get good results I learn that after many years doing any kind of needlework. What I like is the red cords on these I used to have circular needles cords that had there own mind to do what ever they wanted they spin my project around like crazy and cord would bunch.up.

I also got the small box with red heart connectors stoppers too. I am cover now with quality needles to make beautiful things. I just got my ChiaoGoo needles love this set very much I am waiting on my red hearts for them I also got the red cords and got the extra cords I find the case really compact that the extra cords make it bulky I am afraid of breaking the zipper so I got a mesh bag bag made by them, then I found a nice knitting bag that matches I think it may be made by the company the needles are made from my needle case which is perfect I can put my other ChiaoGoo double point needle set. I love that they swivel and I love the finish on the needles. And in the future when I want the lace set I can get them. But I can't wait to make my first project with them. If you buy any of these needles they make the nicest cases for whatever set you get I like they zipper cases not just rolled fabric which possibility of losing your needles or whatever else you have in loose 4pockets.i like my set I have room for my extra stitch markers I got some dangly ones with socks and lambs I put in front zipper pocket. In all your help about these needles was the best I like how you explained about these needles and pointers about the cables was important to me. Thank you.

    Thank you for a brilliant review. I've been looking for a set of interchangeable needles for a while now. I've got an ancient set which is all plastic, and the yarn constantly gets caught in the join and the little bayonet fastenings keep coming undone, and also the sizes are too large. As a result, this set is not used!! Anyway, as a result of your review, I have just ordered the small set of the stainless steel needles, and a couple of separate sets of needles and cables to fill the gaps with the sizes I know I will use. I'm so looking forward to receiving them! Thanks. Also, very amused about your kitty! Kitties always love knitting. So glad to hear these cables are not chewable! Our 2 kitties usually just go after the yarn, though. Nice that you are a cat lady.

    I bought a set of chiagoo fixed circulars based partially on your review. I was tired of my cheap circulars with their majorly stiff cables and didn't want to use my straight needles (they were all given to me over the years) this was my first set of good quality needles and I don't see a reason to ever switch brands, I love them and am saving up for an interchangeable set.

      I am sorry to say I have not used the knitters pride interchangeables, to give you my comparison.. What I would suggest is if you have narrowed it down to a couple of brands, is buy a set of tips and a cable, in each brand and knit with them.. only you will know what you like the best ;)

    • @Fiberific
      @Fiberific  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the only thing that one can do over the other is the 4" tip can be one 16" circs. So if you knit a lot of hats, I'd go the 4" set. But other than that, it really is what feels good in your hands. I personally prefer the 5".

    To be honest.. I am wavering between the Small ChaiGoo Red Lace set, or the ASmall HiyaHiya Sharps set.. Can any if you compare the two fir me? They bits have great , pointy tips.. Please tell me if I am wrong, but I think the HiyaHiyas are a little slicker than the ChaiGoos....which might not be a good thing.. I am just a hat and scarf Knitter... Just cast on my very first Cowl/infinity scarf, using a 40 inch ChsiGoo Stainless Steel size 10 needle.. The yarn is Nako Artist, and it is slippy..
    I am also looking at the Knit Picks small set.. in the Majestic colorway... But..to tell you the truth, it's hard to get past that ugly plastic case..
    I really enjoy your videos.. They are always informative and interesting..

    Thanks for the info. Can anyone who has used both, comment on the grip of chiaogoo metal vs an Addi metal. I have the Addi click lace and am not happy with the cable join spot as it is not as smooth as it should be. I also find them way too slick for me and stitches slip off a lot since I am neither a very experienced or very fast knitter. Thanks in advance.

      RetireeChi hi There, I have used both, I found the lip on the Addis drove me crazy which was one of the big reasons I switched. I love the smooth nearly imperceptible join that you gave with the Chiaogoo interchangeables. I also really love the brushed steel of the chiaogoo, it is still a bit slippy but not crazy smooth..

      RetireeChi Hi. What are your thoughts on the tips of the Addi vs the ChiaGoo? Thanks!

      Thea Stewart hi, sorry but I just happened to be looking at previously watched videos and just saw your question. The Addi click lace tips that I have are way more slippery than the Chiaogoo. The Chiaogoo are nice and smooth without being too too slick. I know some would probably like how slippery the Addis are but I personally don't need that much slide. I have since tried a hiyahiya and I really like it too. I think it has a tiny bit more slip than the Chiaogoo but not as bad as the Addi.

Already knew I was going to buy these needles but recently used bamboo needles and discovered I love them for some projects. (had tried other wood and didn't like) So excited to order now that I know I can buy a set plus order a few bamboo tips. Thank you. Thank you. Now I can have the best of all worlds.

    I'm a relatively new knitter... a few years, a few projects... I want to get a Chiaogoo set to cover any projects I may do...I noticed the complete sets are all 4" or all 5" tips. What determines which tip length to choose?

    • @alexandriasimms4842
      @alexandriasimms4842 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's really down to personal preference. The next time you knit see whether you rest the outtter edge of your hand on the shaft of your needle. That's what I do so I went for the 5".

    Hi Chantelle, I am a crocheter who would like to return to knitting as well and have never used anything other than the old straight needles. In your video you suggest trying 4.00mm stainless steel and a 3mm bamboo and 93cm and 125 cm wires. Is this still your recommendation now that we are a few years down the track from when the vid was made?

    • @Fiberific
      @Fiberific  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Lesley, yes, I do. Obviously it will depend on the yarn. 4.00mm is pretty standard in Australia as our common yarn is the 8ply or DK. And the 3mm as it is not in the set.

    • @Fiberific
      @Fiberific  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question, it comes down to 2 things, what you want to make and comfort. If you want to make beanies or need 16" needles use the 4" you can't make 16" with the 5". But you need to find what's comfortable in your hands too.
