Thanks for posting this. It really helped. There were several other video's posted explaining a similar process but I followed this advice. (1) I pressured washed the driveway (2) I used a wire brush and wire wheel on my drill to clean out the crack (3) I blew out the crack with my air gun (4) I gentle shot the calk into the cracks. At times I had to force it in between the gaps. (5) when I had a long line filled I then went over it with my leaf blower to even it out and maybe sink it in (6) I then laid pea gravel over the crack and stomped it down using a 4X4 wooden block (7) lastly I poured a light coating of sand over the top and stomped it down again. I knew going into this that I was not going to get an exact match but it looks so much better now then a long dirt filled weed infested crack. The proof in the pudding will be what it looks like a year from now. Thanks again....
Excellent video. I wish I had an aggregate driveway but mine is not and I am stuck with a crack that is hard to Camouflage. I have tried believe me. Mine is brown and the sealants I have found are sand tone and gray. I used the gray and add sand on top but not good enough. I thought it was just me that wants to to blend in. 68 Single woman in Texas.
NIce job, I did mine the same way, except I tapped the surface flat with my hand sledge hammer after applying the sand which helped level out the added pebble rock to the existing drive way. Nice job man! One of the better fixes I've seen!
You are a very talented and musical guy with your armpit accordian... Good Video. Home Depot has pea gravel by the bag for about 4 dollars to match aggregate sandstone driveways. Not sure about the gray though. I was watching a video and they reccomended finishing sand. Something special probably in the masonry section but not sure.
i did something similar a couple of years ago, but did not smooth out the filer over the top as I was afraid it would not blend in. Its been a couple of years and I must readdress my cracks, but will try your method. Thanks!
Are you using the sika crack flex sealant ? I thought that was only good for horizontal cracks according to another video? Or are you using the sika self leveling sealant? Thanks. Great info
Ryan is doing it the correct way. Cement power will absorb the moisture in the crack filler causing the fill or patch to crumble. Slab Jack came and fix my 36 x 60 drive way and large patios after they had settled and cracked in every way imaginable. After they were done, using the same method as Ryan's, you didn't notice the where they had drilled 2.5 inch holes or filled the 40 or so cracks with big chunks missing. If using dry cement.... fill the crack or hole, wet it.... keep filling and wetting it until it's just level with the surface. Then add the pea gravel and wet sand. 24 hours later brush or shop vac the excess "toppings". Obviously don't use white cement or sand if you are repairing the standard "gray" aggregate. PS. I use Finishing Sand cement for small cracks that don't require pea gravel. Have fun!

I think it’s because the sand doesnt really bond well to the filler material or that it wears away quickly with weather / traffic It does look good for a while though

Smart! I like your method. I think if you put a little dry cement powder on the top instead of dirt, will get better matching color.

How are the cracks holding up after all of the years? How about the sand, is the crack still disguised from the rocks and sand? Thanks!
