@Jon, left field option could be an Alpine A110. Yes you won’t have the manual option (the auto is good) but you’ll have a wonderful lightweight (with creature comforts) driver to enjoy. This is from an ex-M2 Comp owner.
Jon, Maybe you should start planning your trip again to the USA and when you’re here, you can experience a Corvette. If so, I’ve got you covered with a Stingray to drive.
The A110 is this only thing I can think of that is even close to a Porsche. All the other mid-engine cars are too expensive, too powerful, and not as usable.
Ive got an F Type R and honestly i would never consider a Porsche... Once you drive the F Type you get amazing sound which just makes you smile all the time. Its such a beautiful car. Youd be suprised how many people move from Porsche to the f type... I think the below are better than Porsche in terms of unique and fun factor - AMG GT (closest to porsche)- now 44k - F Type V8 between 30-50k and some SVRs are 45k -
Missing the Toyota Supra. Same platform as the BMW Z4, so I suppose you kind of did cover that. Aston Martin? Vantage is probably the go to sports car there. DB9 is probably to much of a GT rather than out and out Sports car. Maserati? Dunno too much about the range, but they are sure to have something in budget. The Audi TTRS probably deserved a bit more of a look to be honest. You are kind of right though. Porsche does seem like the obvious answer in this budget range. But there are options.
I'd take a Mk5 Toyota supra any day, you can get them with a manual now too. 100x better car to drive than the Z4 M40i. They're not as similar as they look on paper. Insane aftermarket on them too if thats what you're into
Porsche just has that heritage. It’s just Porsche, always has been and will be. TVR gone, Lotus now is just a brand bought by the ever growing Geely group and going the EV route, Noble at a pinch but very niche and reliant on Ford engines, Aston maybe or are they still packing Ford switchgear? The only other car I can think of is an Alfa 4c but again it is flawed. Nissan Skyline would be interesting but Porsche is still the goldilocks choice IMO.
There isn't many options. Most people have families and have butt ugly SUVs. Why people don't buy a cool looking estate car boggles me. Frumpy SUVs 🤮. Personally a Skyline R33 or R34 that's been well looked after and not thrashed to and inch of its life appeals to me. Those RB engines sound amazing. That's the only competition to an early Porsche for me. Thers also a huge cult behind them similar to Porsche. Apples and pears- I like them both. I said to my missus- if she ever buys an SUV I will name it 'Frump the Lump', I think that's put her right off buying one. Tbf she's an MX-5 girl anyway.
For me alot of thigs I would choose. Never been a fan of Porsche the look never did anything for me. I will take my 22 Camaro SS 1LE over it. I can have all the fun I need and dont need to pay the extra insane price to maintain it cause it has a Porsche badge on it.
@@SeanF374 yeah LHD only, but it really makes no difference once you get behind the wheel a few times. Unfortunately after they discontinued them they left over ones have gone crazy on price. Good thing for us owners is it has boosted the value on our cars. Honestly they are a superb vehicle
what did I miss? aston's? supra? gotta be more?
Morgan?

The guy I bought my 987 from sold it to buy his GR86.
Gazoo Racing.
They sort of do, I mean how much do you need to spend on a porsche to best a 2015 m4 comp

You have 50 grand to spend on a sports car and your ONLY option is a Porsche? Obviously LSD must now be in those detailing products…..
Aston Vantage !
Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is an option, also Lamborghini Gallardo.
Better to save and buy a M5. Would never buy a porsche, their snobby dealers can do one.

Radford motors could compete with the porsche on looks and performance.
E92 M3 Competition
Forgot Mustang
I'de take a Ferrari 360 under £50k all day long.

Just give me your 40k I’ll buy a tvr and enjoy the ride
Toyota supra

Biased much though? I wouldn't swap my Dodge Challenger for a Pork!
we all biased towards what we like mate. its like me saying your biased to dodge. but I also like to explore brands just not many options really
A Challenger isn't really an option in the UK though. Dodge don't sell cars here. Plus they are at least 600 lb heavier than a 911.
@@SeanF374 course they do. Available from 4 dealers in the UK as I know. May be heavier but an absolutely fantastic well equipped car.
@@triggerhappyautos I didn't know that. Prices are a bit cheeky though 🤣
I'm assuming LHD only?
