The solar panel should be on direct sunlight. It won't get much energy if it shadowed by the tree or anything. Also don't tur in off when charging in the sun. It auto lights up when theres no sun. It won't charge properly of it is turned off.
Happy holidays!! Just a little suggestion back when I was studying abroad since we weren't able to go home for holidays what I do with my friends is that we still celebrate with just us. We also do gameboard or gamecards where each time someone won they get to pick a gift from the things we bought and wrap earlier. You guys can also do that. Again Happy Holidays!

Its ok to feel sad during holidays when you’re living abroad, i mean filipinos go abroad alone without their husband or wife and leaving behind their own children for years without going home so they can work, now thats more lonely.
