My father, Charles (Chuck) Brunk, was a traveling salesman and a model for Hyer back in late 1950s and 60s. The family home was on East Loula street just up from your grandparents house. When he was younger, in fact, he used to go swimming at your grandparents house! I used to have a Hyer catalog that included pictures of my dad modeling western wear and Hyer boots. I can still remember walking downtown from my grandparents house past the Hyer boot factory building. I wish you much success in continuing a great family heritage.
Thank you for sharing! Our family learned how to swim in that pool, along with many others. It is so cool that some of us got to share similar experiences in Olathe. Do you remember which catalog it was? I would love to find your dad for ya! Shoot me an email cameron@hyerboots.com
This is just the coolest story ever!! We have so many family members in the western culture from back in the day, and what a treasure you have been blessed with, to revive a dream from the past! You are certainly doing your family proud! We also started in 2020, so I understand what you were up against, good for you all for hanging in there! I think I’m going boot shopping now! 😊
This is an awesome testimony of perseverance and American grit!!! Zach - I am praying God continues to bless what you are doing and that someday your grandchildren will share this story!
What an inspiring story! I'm sure Zach's great great grandfather would've been so proud of him. It's a bit of relief to see that American determination and grit are still alive in this younger generation. Definitely getting me a pair of Heyer boots!
Great story, always good to see a family member bringing back the family tradition! Best of luck. I happen to notice Hyer boots while shopping at Big R near me. Yeah, I have a lot of cowboy boots, and really dont need another pair………..but. I really was impressed with the way they were made, the packaging, and picture of Hyer of old. Now, im saving for yet, another pair of cowboy boots!
Great story, but even greater passion to make it happen. I have a pair and they are awesome boots. Best boot ever and I have had a few 🙂. Recommend them to anyone who is looking for a real and great boot. Best of luck to Hyer and the family in the future. I have no doubt the Hyer legend continues.
Just bought my first pair of Hyer Boots. I was so tired of seeing cheap construction and non traditional work boot soles on every western boot in my area. The Hyer boots are awesome.
Cool story, but essentially just a revival of a dead brand name made in Mexico...Don't get me wrong, I like boots made in Mexico, but pushing this legacy American theme is questionable. Start making your boots in Kansas again - Now you have a brand story to tell.
While the goal is to some day have boots manufactured here in Kansas again, without an inherited factory or the financial resources to build our own, we found it prohibitively expensive to get a premium quality using boot at a price that is accessible to our consumers. Our brand story is making the best quality cowboy boots for working cowboys and cowgirls. My family's goal is to make the best boots for the best price that we possibly can. Not only is that in Mexico, but the people, the culture, and the artisans down there are incredible. And, if we can support that level of commitment to authentic craftsmanship - we'll champion your product anywhere in the world. Ride HYER!
Hey David, I am sorry to hear that...most people have nothing but great things to say about the quality of our boots - did you reach out to our customer support team to see what the issue was?
