Never boring, that's Lee Trevino. Supremely talented with a very individualized method sure. I used to love watching him play. Followed him in New Orleans one year for 18 and he went the whole 72 w/o a bogey! He was like a freakin' machine. Felt lucky looking back to catch the man in his prime up close and personal.
followed him and many other at memorial back in the day. I'd put Lee Trevino up against any great ball striker in history. Tom Watson was another guy that is an under rated ball striker. The guy could just flat out smoke the golf ball. Maybe not the absolute longest but he hit it so solid. That era will always be the best. IMO
Thank you Lee! In this deep, dark winter, you’ve put a huge smile on my face. Humble as a human being, but supremely confident and swashbuckling when it comes to his skills. About as supreme a ball-striker and genuine a guy as ever lived.
The happiest golfer ever to be sharing his wisdom with us guy's out here! He is the peoples golfer! He is loved world wide - but he can't half talk - ask Jack!
Can you imagine playing golf at such a high level that you actually frustrated Jack Nicklaus because he had such a difficult time beating you? What great players and better yet...what great men.
He was the best at that shot, especially when years ago , when going over to play in the Open Championship , in heavy winds. those courses were made for him
It's good for low and no spin, but that's it. Tiger didn't do hardly anything these "modern" players are trying to do today. This is a specialty shot, and that's all it should ever be. You watch. In 20 years, we'll all be trying to swing it like Bobby Jones again.
Outstanding,, The Man taught himself in a small town in Texas when yiu think there's racism now could you imagine back then!! With all these rich White boys would wouldn't give there own mother the time of Day!! Absolutely incredible story of how you get thru life!! BRAVO TO HIM and ty for video very cool learned a few things awesome
@RollYourRock me too . Lee is very proud of his hair and likes to show it off. Notice how at the beginning here he fumbled around with his cap giving us a glimpse of his mop. He does that a lot.He often also just takes his cap and slides the brim up high on his head and leaves it there as he had it at the very beginning of this video. I wonder what would happen to his game if he shaved his head..lol
I think Lee is almost too talented. I believe that Michael Jordan would be extremely frustrated trying to give basketball lessons to normal humans...Lee makes it look like normal humans can do what he can do because he doesn't appear like a tremendous athlete; yet, I've never seen him mishit a ball...his short game especially, is something that he's never lost. Most folks, you change a finger by an inch, and it's skull and shank time. As Strapper states--Trevino, never boring.
Excellent advice about regripping to hit a low bump and run, but Lee misstates it at 2:25 as "put your hand(s) very strong"...you are actually going to a very weak grip with your right hand turning down to your right.
so you shank it and then you give up and say, "I can't do it and I'll never be able to do it." (?) Are you kidding? shanking it tells you you are doing something wrong and then you use your brain to find out what the problem is and then you don't do it any more and then your golf game gets better. I play this shot all the time and never shank it. because I practice it. you do know you have to practice, right????????????????/
@@RollYourRock He would say kerp your left wrist flat or bowed and you will hit good shots...an example. While that may be true, there is so much that has to be correct before that that a flat or bowed right wrist will not help.
@@bh5606 Ben, we're talking about a low-trajectory pitch shot here. To come even close to duplicating this shot, a flat left wrist MUST be employed. The main point Lee is making here is that the body MUST keep rotating through impact... Cheers! 🙂
That's an interesting take, but I never thought of Lee Trevino as a color. I thought of Lee Trevino as a great and colorful player. I came of age in the 60s, so I witnessed Lee's climb to the top first hand. I guess it all depends on how you were brought up and in what part of the country you grew up. I grew up and still live in the Northwest. Cheers! 🙂
Lee’s the only golfer in the world who can explain a shot and make you laugh at the same time.
Yup, he's a real beauty! 👍👍
Lee Treivino is one of the real greats of all time.
Lee Trevino is one smart guy - make no mistake. Not just good, not just humorous - S.M.A.R.T.
Ofcourse, genius iq for sure. I have a feeling he thought about golf 24-7

A true master. Jack has said that Lee Buck Trevino was his toughest adversary in his golfing career.
LBT, was unquestionably one of the toughest competitors ever. He had so many ways he could beat you...
Thank you Lee! In this deep, dark winter, you’ve put a huge smile on my face. Humble as a human being, but supremely confident and swashbuckling when it comes to his skills. About as supreme a ball-striker and genuine a guy as ever lived.

I've learned some of the most crucial points from Lee. Very grateful he put in the time and effort to learn everything for a lot of us. Golf great~
Me too! - It's great that Lee Buck loves to share the the knowledge he's accumulated over the many years...
Lee is such a legend. He played way before my time so it’s nice to go back and learn.
I'm very glad you are enjoying the video... Cheers! 🙂
@@RollYourRock it’s awesome. Thank YOU!
Thanks Lee!
I'll pass that along...

Lee Trevino is a wonderful golf player , Wonderful person, wish I could meet him in person .
He was the best at that shot, especially when years ago , when going over to play in the Open Championship , in heavy winds. those courses were made for him
I just love how he dances into position :D
boys he makes that look easy, the crispiest contact and that smooth effortless body turn. he musta hit that shot 10M times to get it that good.
Little did Trevino know that the rotation he talks about at 1:19 would become the modern swing motion by many top players.
I hate the "modern" swing. No art or beauty in it.

Love the bump and run !
Yeah, it's definitely a fun shot to hit. Cheers! 🙂

Totally! 👍👍
best teacher ever genius trevino
Yes, a genius like Hogan... self-made.
Few players understand or can explain golf as well as Lee. The game of golf was luck to have him.
Brilliance from the SuperMex!
He's amazing
Cool dude and a great teacher!
So awesome!
Golf gold!
Glad you enjoyed! 🙂

I don't think fumbling with his hat has anything to do with showing off his hair.
Did he just say "a little 80 yard bump and run?" This man is a legend.
😎
Like a boss.
👍👏
Great times a million
always trying to make em' go in ! The best
Probably a sand wedge or an older, higher-lofted PW. Cheers! 🙂
Respect
Love Trevino, but he always looks steep on these shots. But the results are always perfection.
Unreal tip. USE THIS.
i wonder what club he recommends for this shot?
Wedge! 52° or 56°... but, remember, Lee can really deloft a wedge.
@@RollYourRock yes, i'd need to use a pitching wedge. 80 yards is too far for me with a sand wedge. thx.
@@sl5932 whatever it takes, my friend. I totally understand… Good luck with your golf! 🙂

I wish I had Lee's hair !!
One of the best of all time but unique if you try this you will shank it
Lee's hopes and dreams lay between him and that golf ball. Obsession became skill, skill became fame. Hogan was much the same.
Poetic 😃👍
So was Moe Norman.

IMO i'll take his simple instruction method over any Leadbetter/Foley/Butch.
So first he says you don’t pull, and then he says you pull?
Lee Buck doing his best to confuse us lol… 1:49
Scott, I'm sure we both agree he knows what he's talking about, but sometimes his explanations fall a bit short.
Real triple OG
I love LT
If I had learned how to play golf, it would have been from this man
Excellent advice about regripping to hit a low bump and run, but Lee misstates it at 2:25 as "put your hand(s) very strong"...you are actually going to a very weak grip with your right hand turning down to your right.
Steve, for a right-handed golfer, positioning/turning your hand(s) to the right is considered strengthening your grip. - Cheers! RYR
He is the Charles Bronson of golf !
Lee once said two things about the average golfer that I agree with. Most play the ball too far forward and aim too far right
LEE is the GREATEST GOLFER EVER LIVED.but what he feels can't be taught. you do what he's advocating, you will SHANK IT.

An 80 yd bump and run ?
I bet Lee, in his prime, could have shot in the 70s almost anywhere with a 5wood, 7 iron and a putter.
But not Augusta National.
One time he and Seve Ballesteros played St Andrews with a 5 iron only. If I remember correctly he shot 3 under and Seve shot 2 under.
Yes!
Hes says dont pull, and then says to pull.
You have to sequence your "pulls" properly.

It is my humble opinion that golf stopped being a WHITES ONLY game when Lee’s streak began in 68.

Soooooo many players don't know the difference between a chip and a bump and run.
