Take a detailed look at the 2023 LEGO Star Wars UCS X-Wing and compare it with the 2013 version! These sets came out 10 years apart so I was not surprised to find out that they are completely different from each other.

2013 proportion are more accurate, 2023 looks like an enlarged junior set. Nose cone is too big, engines are to big, and the wings are too short, but love that printed canopy.

If you look at the actual x wing model used in the OT films, the engines are large.
This new set is quite accurate in terms of dimensions.

On the wings, the rear elements were installed incorrectly and the wings did not fit together properly.

Seems dumb that you can't put Luke in the cockpit and close the canopy. Seems like a way people would want to display the set with him 'flying' the X-Wing.

For me that's a huge fail. Maybe you can redesign the seat so that he can sit lower. But still - it should just work.

Currently reading "star wars rogue squadron" and the covert art is 100% the 2013 version. Small nose, small engines, sleek. However, since disney's aquisition of star wars, the engines are now like the 2023 version... phat

I knew about the wings not totally closing beforehand, so I added extra (non Lego) rubber bands while building (do it before encasing the wings mechanism or forget about it). Now I have no "gaps" in flight mode between the wings. But of course it is displayed in attack mode. Lets see how long my extra rubber bands last.

The new X wing looks so good. I looks so much cleaner than the old one and there aren’t as many studs showing which makes it look super nice

Better details in 2023 version but the 2013 version looks more like an actual X Wing. Shame he doesn’t mention that.

2023 white flipper blaster deflectors and oversized nose cone n front intake engine, much less accurate compared to 2013 version.

It's definitely a nice upgrade to the 2013 version. The only thing that I don't like about it is the use of the minifig flipper pieces for the cannon flashback suppressors. It seems to me that Lego could have either created a new element piece to look like that part or used the disc piece. That would've looked better IMO.

While neither is perfect, the new 2023 version is far superior. The hexagonal fuselage, better engine proportions, fewer stickers, and more detail. Even though the engines on the new version look slightly too large, it's a much closer match to an actual x-wing as the 2013 version has engines that are drastically too small.

I agree, 2013 engines were slight on the small side and 2023 is slightly in the large side, but making engines oversized makes the set look like an oversized junior set especially with that oversized nose cone.

If I buy the x wing it will be mid to have landing gear which I never understood with lego actual accuracy isn’t their best suit
