Great video as this is always a heavy talking point when it comes to entry-level networking. I always see people recommending the CCNA as the starting point which I find awful for someone with no experience since the time, effort and burnout will be extremely high. The answer is more nuanced. I have 14 years of desktop support experience and 10 more as an IT hobbyist. Some folks believed I could skip A+ and go straight to Network+. I'm glad I didn't. I discovered a lot of gaps in my knowledge, especially in networking, that A+ filled. This made my entry into Network+ alot easier. I could see a similar situation where someone's got 4+ years of network support technician experience and discovers that Network+ fills in some important gaps. You make a strong case for such a person skipping Network+. I could've made a strong case for skipping A+, but I'm so glad I didn't.
And for the record, I have no Network Support experience beyond assisting end users with connecting to the ethernet/wifi and escalating tickets to the Network Team when needed.
It all ties down to if your job requires the exam and if they accept network+ or CCNA. Some jobs use cisco equipment so they require CCNA. Network+ would be to get yourself in the field and then study for CCNA as you gain more experience, but unfortunately jobs require 10 years experience and CCNP to get entry level networking. This is what happens when HR is full of greed and outsources to India, which is the main reason why they have ridiculous standards because they want to justify the outsourcing by stating that there are no qualified job applicants that meet the requirements. The job market does not work for people people who are finding their role in life anymore. There is no entry level anymore. Either you are lucky and get a job or not, become homeless, do a worthless job for the rest of your life and be miserable, stagnating and never use your skills or potential and in the end studying for CCNA was a waste of your time and money just like degrees.
Really? In my country you can get a pretty much a good paying job in a good company if you have CCNA. Network+ is not that popular or in demand here. BTW where are you from?
Look up network engineer academy, don't buy his course just watch his youtube vids. I got a job 2 weeks after getting my ccna. That's all I had to my name no experience no job either. First job network admin 25/hr. Just follow his advice only if your serious or talk to me
I highly suggest chasing HR/the hiring manager and asking the reasons you weren't chosen, because from my end my answer was always the fact that I don't have a cert
Dude if you're a beginner to Networking CCNP is waay out of your scope. I would recommend studying and passing the A+ Net + and Security + first then start applying for basic help desk positions - build up some experience and study for the CCNA at the same time. That way when you do eventually pass your CCNA you'll now have multiple certs + atleast 6 months - a years worth of IT experience. Experience is the most important - It won't matter if you have all these certifications and no real world experience applying that knowledge.
Is that true? I am going to take an hcia security test soon with no prior certifications or experience in the field apart from a course that I ve taken at uni regarding networking and a few basic Cisco labs, I am also attending a network + course at udemy and I am wondering if I am taking the right route or not, do you have any experience in hcia certs that you can share?
Also, i am currently residing in a non-English speaking country, and I've heard talking about the US using its influence in the government to halt hwaie's projects. Nonetheless, from what i can see, they continue to operate in cooperation with ISPs with limited permissions as of now.

if you have a CCNP you can become a consulting network engineer aka top of the food chain earning the big dolla.
Comptia Net is entry level
It's funny cuz in the real world almost all ISP outside english speaker countries are migrating towards Huawei. HCIA is the best bet outside US.

i mnade the mistake doing network+ then entry service desk work i forgot so much and yes i passed both sec and net lol
