This question may be an odd one, but was there anything on the COMPTIA exam objectives that you did not encounter much of on the exam? I ask because on the A+ I did not encounter a lot of certain materials that had been emphasized in Professor Messor's videos as well as the objectives.
I took the test a few months ago so I forgot what exactly was on it but the pool they pull the questions from is massive so you should just make sure you are good with everything.
Hey, I know it's been a while since you posted this, but wondering-- what was your workflow like for studying? did you watch Messer and then go and watch Dion's videos on the same topics? Or did you really only use Dion for the practice questions? How many topics did you cover a day?
Good morning from Indonesia. Hello best friend. I really like your content. SUCH AN AWESOME TIPS. It's really impressive. Thank you for sharing a very good, interesting and inspiring video for all of us. Hopefully we can all be better, healthier, stronger, successful, happier and always under God's protection
They give you two weeks to pass these exams in the military. Five weeks should be more than doable. Thats one week for every section of the exam but I highly recommend studying for two sections per week and the remaining weeks reviewing. For PBQ's definitely save them for the end if you can't answer them quickly. I typically would spend some time answering some of the PBQs partially during the first ten minutes of the exam, and the saving the harder PBQ for the end. That way I dont feel too much pressure when circling back to the PBQ's as they would be at least partially finished.
Hey Tim, great video and thanks for the advice. I have two CompTIA net 006 and the 008. One of them came with a dvd guide from Mike Myers. My question is on the test, did they have anything like Netsim or packet tracer? Please let me know, I’ve been studying and watching videos. I’ve been in the IT field for 5 years now. A friend of mine just failed the test for a second time and he’s taking the CompTIA course through his college. Any and all advice would be great
Hey, great video. Did you ever get around to taking your sec+? I don't see any videos about it on your channel but it would be great to hear your thoughts on the process much like in this vid if you did end up taking it. Cheers.
honestly me saving pbq’s till the end screwed me. i didnt get to answer a single one. and if i did i prob would have passed. got a 680 without answering any of the like 4 pbq’s
You have to have good time management. Make sure will have at least 30 min to answere pbqs or make sure to speed yourself up. The reason to save pbqs for the end is because many people will spend too much time on them then not have time to answere the multiple choice questions(which should be easier than pbqs). If you think doing them first will work better for you then try it, just make sure your time doesn’t get sucked into them.
Hey Timothy, You're making the most sense to me been looking at starting a new career path with a stronger income. I already have a couple certs in the medical field... but tech is sounding like the way to go. Which certs do you recommend for an entry level position in IT? I'm between this one and itle right now. Do you currently work remote or on site?
ITIL is more focused on IT service management practices. Network+ is focused on networking. I would recommend network+ as far as the cert that would open more doors for you. I am currently working remote.
@@TheAjamu39 depends on what route you want to go, if you are looking for a entry level job to break into look at studying for your A+ while you are looking for jobs, the only thing you really need is customer service for help desk and service desk, a little bit of A+ knowledge will seal the deal, then do Network+ and from there it depends on what route you want to go, Cyber Security do Security+ and pentest+ ,networking getting CCNA and Security+ always helps, if you want to do Cloud, get your CCP and then your SAA
I'm currently studying to sit my Network+ exam. I got my Comptia A+ last year, but Network+ looks much harder. I think I really need to learn IP addressing and subnetting more, because I find that the hardest - numbers make my head hurt. Quick question, what sort of IT job did you get into? And what is the salary like? Though I am studying this IT certification, I am unsure if I want to actually move into IT if it doesn't pay as much as I'm earning now.
Professer messer does a really good job explaining subnetting. I am phone support for on-site techs. I just recently got on a new team where we configure routers, phones, and troubleshoot circuits remotely. You usually have to go through the help desk phase first to get experience but thankfully I got to skip that part. I think the entry level help desk jobs are 35-40k.
1. A guy I met at my HS reunion told me he currently works in IT and he sent me the link to Messer's playlist. Should I watch all his videos before I view other study resources or should I find other study guide topics such as notes related to the particular video I just watched? 2. I hardly have any background or experience with IT. I worked as a sound technician for a couple of weeks but was unfortunately let go. Many of these IT companies require a lot of experience so would having the certificate alone be enough to apply for It positions or are employers looking for other elements to add to that certificate? I did watch Messer's video on how to get a job in IT without experience and he brought up certain volunteer work but I think that would be hard to find. 3. Where is the link for the online exam?
Hello, Messer's video course is a great place to start and I would definitely go through it. It really depends on the job title, the job duties, the amount of experience that the employer wants... The Net+ cert on my resume has gotten me into interviews and some roles. Whether the employer wants to pursue you further depends on how the interview goes, so certs can only do so much for you. Hey! You should go through the net+ objectives and see if there are things you do not know. If you find that there are a good amount of things that you can learn from Net+ then I would go for it!
You said you studied for 4-7 hours a day, 5 days a week for 5-6 weeks. That’s at minimum 100 hours. You think I’ll be okay if I just study for one hour a day every day (including weekends)? I want to make it a habit

However, I really really like the study notes he provides in each of his courses. It references as a nice cheatsheet of information. The Mike Meyers Course on Udemy is better in terms of "Keeping your attention" but it provides crappy notes, doesn't label each video to the objective # for reference, and provides slightly less overall information than Jason Dions material. I just used PM notes because they summarized everything up really well for me. There are a good amount of things that you should have memorized for the exam.
Definitely do it in person. They can disqualify you at home if any of multiple things were to happen. There was almost no one in the testing room when I went. There could have been 2 or 3 people, but it is segregated up, so I couldn't even tell. No distractions at all. They give a white board to use for notes.
@@kousik8042 lol I’m debating it because I’m like a week away from getting my google it support certificate so idk if I wanna pay the 300 bucks for A+ when they are almost the same thing
Some people recommend skipping the A+ and just going for the Net+ because it saves time/money and most employers view the Net+ as equal to if not better than the A+. Is that true and would it be a good idea? I don’t have any certs or a degree and don’t know where I should start. Thanks man
You could go over the A+ objectives and see how comfortable you are with them. I would only recommend going straight to net+ if you are really comfortable with the objectives and have a good baseline knowledge of general IT.
I already watched the Professer Messer Videos, might pay for the Jason Dion practice exams so I don't have to spend another $100 on the retake version of the test.
After completing Google IT Support Certificate, is that enough prior knowledge to study for Network+ certification and give the exam after prep? On the CompTIA and Coursera, it says that Google's IT support certificate and A+ are closely aligned.
Google IT support is.not a substitute for Comptia A+. It is recommended that you go in order A+ to Net+ to Sec+ but you can skip around. There is some overlap in information between the certifications and another benefit of going in order is that each one renews the previous certification
I am a beginner have zero idea idea of networking planning to start from basic can i pass this in 3 months also should i need yo study for A+ or can i start networking please help
I passed today. Only used professors Messer videos. I went through the comptia materials provided to me by my employer for free and it’s trash honestly

I passed my sec+. It was just a little harder than the net+ IMO. I took the salary that I was given, I knew I couldn’t ask for too much just starting off.
Mostly security tech, network tech, help desk etc… I passed network+ after I watched your video. A+ security+ network+ for a month now and no job. Just a lot of denial letters

No problem, you got it!
This is some great info. Thank you!
Did you take notes yourself on any of the courses or did you just use professor Messrs notes? Studying rn but not sure If I should try to write it all down or just soak it in by watching first.
I soaked it all in and then bought professer messers notes so I didn’t need to worry about writing them myself
@TimothyNeubert thanks for reply subbed !
I passed Network+ in a month.
That’s great, good job!
@@TimothyNeubert I say that to encourage anyone that is changing careers, without any IT experience in and that may feel intimidated by the test; That was how I felt.
@@spacecomet128 Which resources did you use to study and pass?
@@butsirrr lol, ghosted.
did you use cisco labs when you were studying
Hey man I know this is a long shot if you see this but I am trying to start in IT industry and wanted to start with A+ for some one who has little to none knowledge for anything it would you have any tips to start of. What do you think I should tackle first? Jason dion comptia a+ course on udemy first?
Hey! Yes, I think you should go for the A+ cert and go over the study resources I listed in my A+ video. You got this!
Failed the first two attempts. Been studying for networks for about 4 months and hoping I can pass on my 3rd attempt. Been using as many resources as I can
Network+ is a tough exam but you’ve got it! Try to review the areas you struggled in. You can find that report if you log in to comptia.
Yea man
Timothy may I ask what was the style of exam is it more on multiple choices or mixed of multiple choices and hands on?
Hello :) What is you opinion on CompTIA A+? I have no IT knoledge, but would like to take a start up course and wondering if to start from A+ or NETWORK+. Thank you :)
Hey, it would probably be better to start with A+ if you have no IT knowledge.
Thank you
Howzit Timothy, thanks for the video. I’m currently studying towards the N+ and I want to write maybe by the beginning of May.
I'm on the same timetable. Started a week ago. End of May for me...
@@spaceman4653 lets push, I believe this certification will open many doors for us.
I planned on using professor messers notes as well as his videos. do you recommend doing one before the other?
I went through all the videos first and then used the notes as a final study before the exam. Either way probably works though
Chatgpt is pretty helpful as well
Thanks bro. I bought the book so I am going to give it a try.
Thanks for the information my brother.
Presently....I am just a beginner. How to maintain notes...should i write notes while watching professor messer videos or buy his notes and revise after watching it
I personally did not write any notes, I just listened closely to all the material and then got Messer's notes after for review.
Thanks man. I have the exam in 2 days and was a bit worried
Passed it! Thanks for the help.
Yay great job!
I’ve got my test in 3 days praying 😅
How did your test go
Hey mate, thanks for your tips, I joined a platform called learning people, i am from engineering background so i found it hard to get into networking, I just realised i have should started from A+, to be more familiar with Networking +, I hope i pass from the first attempt, are you from IT background ?
I had no IT background. You got it!
How did you get on with learning people? I am doing the exact same route as you.
How much are u making with the new job and net+ on your resume?
How helpful has the net+ been since passing?
hekko my name is Reggie I want to know what is the most important questions on the exams of Network +
Great video, this was great insight.
Great Vid! Question: I plan on taking the Net+.. Is Jason Dion's information going to be relevant to the most recent Net+ exam? It looks like JD's prep is for(N10-006) the most recent is (N10-008) Would it still be helpful to me now?
Jason dion should have material for 008 on Udemy
@@TimothyNeubert Gotcha.. appreciate the quick reply!
Hey bro, so did you actually write any notes or just use PM notes? And you just memorised everything?
I just used PM notes because they summarized everything up really well for me. There are a good amount of things that you should have memorized for the exam.
@@TimothyNeubert thanks for reply
Thoughts on taking the exam in-person vs online?
I only have experience taking it online. Sometimes the PBQ's can be unresponsive though
Definitely do it in person. They can disqualify you at home if any of multiple things were to happen. There was almost no one in the testing room when I went. There could have been 2 or 3 people, but it is segregated up, so I couldn't even tell. No distractions at all. They give a white board to use for notes.
Is it even worth to get network+ certified instead of ccna?
Hi Tim…thanks for sharing your experience….
Has it been easier for you to get jobs after completing the course?
Yes, net+ definitely helped me get more interviews
Would you recommend the A+ course prior to Network+?
im going backwards lol, I got my Security+ now im studying for my Network+
😂😂good now focus on a+
@@kousik8042 lol I’m debating it because I’m like a week away from getting my google it support certificate so idk if I wanna pay the 300 bucks for A+ when they are almost the same thing
How did you get your hands on skills
Is necessary to do A+ to network + or it’s your choice pls let me know
It’s your choice.
Tim, what's the cheapest way to buy this exam? Thx !
Thank you for your insite. I will be doing it in 2 months.
You got it!
Did you pass it?
Yes I did
Thanks for sharing.
I already watched the Professer Messer Videos, might pay for the Jason Dion practice exams so I don't have to spend another $100 on the retake version of the test.
His practice exams are great
Did you split up the videos like watching professor Messer 2 hours then Jason 1 hour?
No, watched all the dion vids then all the messer vids
After completing Google IT Support Certificate, is that enough prior knowledge to study for Network+ certification and give the exam after prep?
On the CompTIA and Coursera, it says that Google's IT support certificate and A+ are closely aligned.
Google IT support is.not a substitute for Comptia A+. It is recommended that you go in order A+ to Net+ to Sec+ but you can skip around. There is some overlap in information between the certifications and another benefit of going in order is that each one renews the previous certification
@josephgarceau6753 well said
I know you didn't cover it in the video, but have you ever used examtopics to study? If you did what did you think of it/how helpful was it
I did go through the exam topics to make sure I knew what I needed to know about every topic
@@TimothyNeubert how much would you examtopics helped? I hear some say it was the best test bank to use
I’m a fresher in uni. Can i take the Network+ directly and just skip A+?
You can if you feel that you already have the base knowledge and are comfortable with the objectives covered in A+
Thank you for the tips!
What possible job opportunities come with having the N+?
@timothyNeubert It's been a year since your exam, Were you able to get a job solely based on this cert? Thank you
I did get an entry level job where I was remotely supporting field techs with network troubleshooting.
What chair is that? Looks comfortable.
it is a secret labs chair, it is pretty comfortable!
I am a beginner have zero idea idea of networking planning to start from basic can i pass this in 3 months also should i need yo study for A+ or can i start networking please help
You should start with A+ if you are new to IT
I passed today. Only used professors Messer videos. I went through the comptia materials provided to me by my employer for free and it’s trash honestly
Great job passing! I agree, I didn’t use any comptia material either
When you studied did you break things up into sections or did you just go straight through ?
When I watched the video courses, I just went straight through them.
@@TimothyNeubert ok and you didn’t take extra notes you just read the material that was presented in each course or video?
Yes, I usually do better without taking notes because I’m not worried about writing certain things down. I just bought professer messers course notes and they were great
Hey boss, want to thank you for the advice and was wondering what jobs I should be looking for? I just recently got my degree in IT and am working on certifications.
I would just apply for any entry level role. Helpdesk, noc analyst 1 if you can. Apply to all the job applications you can!
did you take SEC+ bro? Looking forward to video on it and how the two tests compare. Thanks for the insight.
I passed that but I have not made the vid yet. I would say that they are pretty similar in terms of how hard the exams were for me
what score did you get ??
Hey Tim! Thanks for the informative video👍
Hi, Congratulations!!!!! Can you share your flashcards?
Thanks! I just put the port# and definition on the back. You can probably find online flash cards already made for net+.
Hi, did you take the Security +exam? If so how was it please? And did you negotiate your salary?
I passed my sec+. It was just a little harder than the net+ IMO. I took the salary that I was given, I knew I couldn’t ask for too much just starting off.
This might be a dumb question but how do you know which ports to memorize?
You can find the ports that need to be memorized on the exam objectives
Have u found a Job? I’m A+ and Security+ and nothing yet. About to knock out network + at the end of month.
Yes, I was able to get an entry level job where I was remotely supporting field techs. What jobs are you applying for?
Mostly security tech, network tech, help desk etc… I passed network+ after I watched your video. A+ security+ network+ for a month now and no job. Just a lot of denial letters
@@nightshiftregulator1836 I would just continue applying, usually getting your foot in the door is the hardest part. Also make sure you have a good template for your resume.
Somehow I feel lazy it's not a hard certification but I'm kinda lazy do you have a solution for that
I think you have to get the certification before you can say whether it is easy or not. It is different for everyone. You just have to find a way to stay motivated. Think about your IT career and how quickly you want to get into it. The faster you get it, the faster you can move on and get a job or go for another cert.
@@TimothyNeubert thnx bro i really appreciate it the reason for saying it's easy because I read the book I have the full copy , the second reason for that is that I have harder certification basically my master degree so , thanks anyway for the push ❣️
Are there any resources for the practical questions ?
I have a comp sci degree, and still looking for job, idk if i should skip A+ and just try studying for network+ idk what do u think?
You should go for net+, email me your resume
