The Doctor from Matilda 🤝Dr Pomatter
having my whole heart
Yass
Amber no because in the musical miss honey’s father is an escapologist.
I think you might have a thing for doctors
Vicky Lee I’ve finally found another person who likes to analyze the music like me!
Beata Joy love it!
When I went and saw Six on Broadway, the first “Liiiiiiiiiive!” Gave me goosebumps all over
Noodles Makes Animatics and Stuff broadway!!!!!!!! How was it! Ive seen it 3 times on the west end and it’s incredible
omg AGREE it’s insane
Just listening to it
SAME!!
M8 I nearly cried I was that excited
*when a low-budget musical is better/more accurate than a high-budget movie a.k.a The Lightning Thief*
And YeS Matilda the Musical
theatre • nerd I’m obsessed
Vicky Lee MOOD
a very potter musical to cursed child
I really wish I remembered seeing The Lightening Thief on Broadway, but I was high as balls.
I saw TLT musical off-Broadway with the Broadway cast last year
i feel like the entirety of Heart of Stone is painfully underrated
Julia Hurley like I didn’t care about the song at all before I saw that part of the musical and it’s an understatement to say that I really love that song now
I blame tik tok
I think its because most of us don't want to think of Henry as anything other than a villain and so Jane being in love with him despite his many faults isnt something we want to acknowledge
@@lyric1050 they did nothing
Esther Eso exactly
When you were talking about Hurricane, I audibly said "SOMEONE SAID IT THANK YOU"
Hamilton's "I couldn't seem to die" and then we hear Burr's "Wait for it" and then the ensemble joins, and then a second ensemble group along with Washington comes in with "History has it's eyes on you". It's just such a great song in general but when you're as invested in the musical as I am and you really look into lyrical and melodic patterns as much as I do, Hurricane is a GOLD MINE. Hamilton has arguably the best foreshadowing and the best use of lyrical/melodic thought and literary devices.
Ace Trainer Annie 100% agree. Hurricane has always struck me as the emotional turning point of the show
Ace Trainer Annie I HAD CHILLS WHEN I HEARD CHRISTOPHER
Ok... But have you heard the workshop version? For some reason it's probably the only workshop song i like more than original....
@Epic Gamer The amount of foreshadowing in Hamilton is honestly so impressive. There's foreshadowing in practically EVERY SONG of the show. Hamilton can just be renamed to "Founding Fathers Rapping And Foreshadowing For 2 Hours And 45 Minutes"
It all has to do with the motifs. The parts of songs that repeat throughout the play that have very deep and specific emotion and meaning. Burr’s “wait for it” expressing regret and fear. Washington’s “History has its eyes on you” expressing dignity and pride. Mixed together as polar opposites creates really intense emotion for the audience/listener. Lin-Manuel like KNOWS what he’s doing and why. Every piece of every song has a purpose and it’s amazing.
Someone giving the Percy Jackson Musical the appreciation it deserves :)
Sofia Aviles it deserves the world
I stand with you
Sofia Aviles FINALLY
All time favorite musicals!
I know right! It’s my current musical obsession. It’s so good
The Wicked opening is always SO terrifying, even as an adult.
I think Kristin’s final part in Defying Gravity is just chilling, as the music swells and Idina belts, her “I hope you’re happy” always gives me goosebumps
it’s the flying monkeys that creep me out
That’s what’s fantastic about it
The overture and March of the Witch Hunters were my childhood night terrors
Wicked was the first (and only) broadway musical I’ve seen so I get super happy any time I hear the overture.
the lightning thief appreciation on here is delectable
beatriz hg i wanted to insert the whole of DOA tbh
@@vickylee456 you should've honestly DOA slaps
Vicky Lee honestly Luke’s part in The Campfire Song is super underrated
yeeees
@@vickylee456 that song slaps BUT LOST
Disclaimer: This video is EXTREMELY NERDY you have been warned
Every viewer: We are all pretty nerdy if we are watching this. The nerdier the better!
Just in case any non mt people stumble on this video ig
*thénardier the better
I mean I’m a theatre kid, I’ve read every Harry Potter and every Percy Jackson book, I did a huge project on Eliza, and other things.....
I agree with the Hamilton one but non stop
" HAMILTON WROTE THE OTHER 51"
That gives me chills
Honestly don’t like hamilton that much (used to until quarantine for some reason) , and I still reference the number 51 to that.
Honestly though The Lightning Thief is underrated in general-
Malawaffle Random Derp it better come to the west end
@@vickylee456 I agree or I'm going to riot. I love the books and the music is amazing and honestly I just want to cry to good kid and tree on the hill live is that too much to ask
Vicky Lee It better. I can’t afford to just fly out to America to watch it
I was lucky enough to see it in Broadway back in December. If it does go West end, I highly recommend it!
It is!! I love it so much
“The Reynolds Pamphlet” *rip* is a MOOD
Oh my god yesssss that bit in hurricane is hella underrated
Annabanana 2401 hurricane more like insane-ly underrated haha 👀
It is! And it opens up about Hamilton's past and his motivations for publishing the Reynolds Pamphlet
The Choreo for hurricane is just spectacular as well..the way they create a literal hurricane and Hamilton stands in the eye of it...so good man
Hurricane is probably the most underrated song in Hamilton, it’s so great and such an important moment in Hamilton’s story. It’s one of my favorites!
Ya it’s very underrated for an overrated musical (no offense I fricking love Hamilton)
No one:
Jane Seymour: StOOOoooOOOoooOOOOooOOOnE!
Yes we absolutely Stan Natalie Paris
My friend always ads a d at the end to annoy me it works
@@astridb1374 yes we love Natalie uwu
We love Jane Seymour!
We love Natalie Paris!
@@ulfhildurjonsdottir7917 Stoned?
I know most of ya'll came for Hamilton or Six, but I saw the Lightning Thief in the thumbnail and thought, this is my type of video
I’m a diverse gal
Same
@Heather Lee TOTALLY FREAKING OUT but sad at the same time because Disney+ isn't available on our country
I came for all three lol
Honestly I came to see if there were any moments from Everybody's Talking About Jamie because the first time I listened to 'the tale of Loco Chanelle' I lost it bc it is just... So good.. also, holy fuck Over The Top??? Iconic. If I met myself again?? Yes.
legally blonde is honestly so underrated just bc it’s a movie-to-musical adaptation but it honestly is my favorite musical of all time, besides falsettos lmao
Finally someone agrees with me
Falsettos and Legally Blonde is seriously a bop, like call me crazy but these two musicals are so catchy that I feel like I want to be casted on these two musicals 😭😂
someone with taste
You have impeccable musical taste.
ruth wood Christian Borle rlly do be makin points huh
Also, in Hurricane from Hamilton, Hamilton sings, “I couldn’t seem to die” and then AARON BURR sings “wait for it...” like he’s foreshadowing the fact that Hamilton will indeed die...and he’ll be the one to kill him. That part has always given me chills.
Finally the Matilda doctor getting the respect he deserves. He SNAPPED
Camille M when i was listening to the soundtrack i fucking thought he was gonna be a main character or something ! I love him
Raesang Dalu I know right! It was great
Camille M I saw it on west end- it was so good..
At lunch my friend would always just be singing the doctor part and honestly I lived for it
Luke's good kid reprise almost is what made me fully fall in love with Luke and forgive him I love it
ajhdgjfghghj five seconds in and the man turns and im like "HUGH???!!!!"
Same I thought I was seeing things
HAHAHAHA
Kkkk literally me
Also, the whole ‘I’ve learned to slam on the brakes before I even turn the key, before I make the mistake, before I lead with the wORST of me, I never let them see the worst of me’ in Words Fail
THIS
*T H I S*
YES. God, especially Ben Platt's version ALWAYS breaks my heart.
oh so you have TASTE taste!!!
So do you if you liked the vid!
I'm so glad people appreciate Heart Of Stone, it's one of my favorite six songs possibly my favorite just because the passion, the story in the song, in her voice just fills me with awe.
Same, it’s so beautiful!
listen to lauren byrne’s heart of stone from the tour cast hers is just as incredible
i know. this song makes me cry so hard. it is incredible and so underrated
100%
I was shook.
Hurricane has the best transition to the next song EVER
Was anyone gonna tell me there was a Percy Jackson musical or did I have to find that out in this random video myself??
Hahahhaha you’re welcome.
Aw... it’s amazing though isn’t it
ITS SO GOOD OH MY GOD IT WILL HEAL THE MOVIE SCARS
OMG ITS SO GOOD RIGHT!!!!
If you haven’t found a bootleg or heard the soundtrack by now-
The orchestra for the Les Mis movie sprinted so that the rest of the movie could walk
I am HERE for the Matilda love, it's such an excellent show. Revolting Children makes me feel some kinda way. We have no choice but to stan Bruce
lemonmiranda such an anthem
Dude I’m so sad whenever I think about Matilda because I was supposed to be in the show this summer but it was cancelled because of corona
i saw it off-Broadway and the kid playing bruce was absolutely incredible
Matilda is one of my favs, When I Grow Up makes me cry every time
it was the first musical i ever saw and it makes me feel even more knowing i would have been in it if i didn't have a growth spurt
I absolutely love that part in last day of summer too, the good kid theme gives me chills everytime, it's a really good display of emotion
beatriz hg i AGREE!!! Was shocked when i first heard it
But D.O.A. is pure perfection
3:18 “my last three brain cells” I DIED
In Heather's, in
Dead Girl Walking reprise, it goes "CHEEK TO CHEEK IN HELL WITH A DEAD GIRLLLLLLL (EPIC drums) WALKINGGG (Ensemble and Heather M:) WOOOOAAAAAAAHHHH
And idk that part always gives me chills.
The guy who sings "What did I ever do to them" in Beautiful is so underrated.
The way in Beautiful how they say "Homo" three times to show how it's overused
Also all the slurping sound effects in Freeze your Brain.
And Lydia's part at the end of Jump in Line (Beetlejuice) also gives me chills.
The word play in Six (the last song in Six): We're ONE in a kind, no category, TWO many years, lost in history, we're THREE (like free) to take, our crown and glory FOUR FIVE more minutes.... We're SIX.
I just think that's super clever.
Also, every time in Beetlejuice where Beatlejeuce (probably didn't spell his name right) becomes self aware (Most of The Whole Being Dead Thing, "If you die in this preformace, it's gonna keep playing," "A dance break in a show/album? Amazing." Etc.)
The part of The Whole Being Dead Thing that's like:
Ukelele: Hiiii, you're gonna be fineeeee, on the other sideeee
Heavy Metal: DIE, YOU'RE ALL GONNA DIE, YOU'RE ALL GONNA DIE
Ukelele: I'llllll, I'llllllll be your guideeeeee, on the other sideeeeee
That one scene from SpongeBob the Musical with that one prop that becomes like the super long couch, and all that. Honestly, the whole musical is underrated. It has decent songs, clever duologue, good acting, it's easy to follow, and if Shrek can get a respectable musical, so should SpongeBob.
The song Get Down from SIX
There were some good jokes in SIX, my favorite was "I guess he really liked my head."
Honestly the whole concept of SIX is great
The singing in Phantom of the Opera
The clever duologue paired with the acting in Falsettos (my favorite is when that guy sings "Homosexuals" and points to the audience lol)
Really any time the fourth wall is broken
This might not count, but I like how clever songs can get changed for different preformaces. For example, I like how some of the lyrics to The Whole Being Dead Thing got changed at the Tony's, my favorite were "You're all like YOLO, Hey, Adam Driver, You killed Han Solo! Not cool dude."
Also, when there's a mistake, or something goes wrong, but the actors/actresses find a clever way to work around it.
It
It literally spells his name in the title
Beetlejuice??
@@quasarfly22 His name is actually spelled different than the title.
Yessssssssssss Spongebob! I love that musical so much
Eleanor The Moth Mom one of my friends was the kid in the west end Falsettos
Wait what does "I guess he really liked my head" mean? I must be really stupid to not get the joke.
Finally some appreciation for the Lightning Thief like this musical is better than the movies and the vocals are to die for and so much better from Legally Blonde is one of my absolute favorite musical theatre songs
Let's be honest pjo fans, anything is better than the movies. But the musical delivered 100%
I really hope disney+ does it justice tho... I’m all for disney but if hsmtmts is anything to go by...
I so agree and I can’t wait to see how Disney takes it
@S.freakin.P. SK he isnt shown as gay in the original series
FINALLY SOMEONE TALKING ABOUT THE LIGHTNING THIEF MUSICAL
Also the part in bring on the monsters where they tie in the other songs and HARMONIZE gives me CHILLS
YES
“Choose your fighter” I can’t they’re all too beautifully goofy 😂
I just found this now but I appreciate that someone else loves the overture in No one mourns the wicked. No one ever talks about how great the orchestration is in musicals 😔
Fuck yeah
I love it so much, the orchestration of wicked is fantastic
The overture for Gypsy is amazing too. It's probably my favorite overture ever
Hurricane is such an underrated Hamilton song. The part that gives me chills is “and when my prayers to god were met with indifference, *I* picked up a pen, *I* wrote my own deliverance!”
every song in lightning thief gives me chills. like, its just so well written, and my grand plan was written to perfection. it shows who annabeth really is, and how shes not just the love interest. doa is also just really good. they all are
Is it weird that I recognized Aaron Tveit as Fiyero on vocal tone alone
dw, I did too
Sameeee
sameeee
Sameee, he is perfect
I just did the most agressive chefs kiss of all times because Aaron tveit
Basically the entire second act of Wicked is underrated. Other than For Good no one ever talks about the rest of the songs! Thank Goodness shows how Glinda really feels about her position of power, Wicked Witch of the East shows what made Nessa become the Witch of the East, the transition from that song to Wonderful is the most chilling part in my opinion. It mimics the dancing from Dancing Through Life and it's haunting. Wonderful goes from being uplifting and catchy to heartbreaking to ominous. I'm Not That Girl reprise is heartbreaking, The start of As Long as You're Mine is chilling, No Good Deed needs no explanation, March of the Witch Hunters also needs no explanation, the end of For Good is chilling, and the Finale, well, you can imagine how that goes.
💯
Thank Goodness is my favourite song from Wicked because of all the exposition and everyone always sleeps on that
No Good Deed is hands down the best song in Wicked!!!
We were robbed of The Wicked Witch of the East- It should have been on the cast recording.
FINALLY-
Someone talked about 'I don't need your love' and 'heart of stone'.
Thank you. 😩👑💕
My two favorite songs from the musical!
Matilda is one of the most underrated musicals, it’s so great which is amazing because so much of the cast is kids and they are all soo talented.
Chason Unicorn and tim minchin is always a win
The last day of summer is legit my favorite song of TLT and NO ONE TALKS ABOUT IT!??
Im a simple person, I see Lighting Thief, I click
Only one Hamilton song?
I can tell you every moment that gave me chills
1. “Moved in with the cousin, the cousin committed suicide”
2. “We roll like Moses, claimin’ our Promised Land”
3. “If I told her that I loved him, she’d be silently resigned, he’d be mine, she would say ‘I’m fine’, she’s be lyin’”
4. The intense climax, hitting a enormous drop. “Hamilton’s pace is relentless, he wastes no time. What is it like in his shoes?” This next part always gets me, “Hamilton doesn’t hesitate, he exhibits no restraint, and he takes, and he takes”
5. “Then I’ll do it.”
6. “I don’t pretend to know the challenges you’re facing, the worlds you keep erasing and creating in your mind.”
7. “No one has more resilience or matches my practical, tactical brilliance!” Idk why this gives me chills
8. “We escort the men out of Yorktown, they stagger home single file. Tens of thousands of people flood the streets, there are screams and church bells ringing. And as our fallen foes retreat, I hear the drinking song they’re singing! The world turned upside down, the world turned upside down.”
9. NON STOP “Helpless, - they’re asking me to lead - look around, isn’t this enough? - he will never be satisfied, satisfied, satisfied - history has it’s eyes on you - look around, isn’t this enough? - satisfied”
10. “My gosh, in god we trust, but no one really knows what got discussed. Click boom then it happened”
11. “We’re gonna teach em how to say goodbye, you and I.”
12. Of course, hurricane.
13. “His poor wife”
14. “You forfeit all rights to my heart, you forfeit the place in our bed, you ‘ll sleep in your office instead, with only the memories of when you were mineeeeeeee - I hope that you burnnnnnnnn”
15. “If I could spare his life, If I could trade his life for mine, he’d be standing here right now, and you would smile. That would be enough.”
16. “Best of wives and best of women”
17. Oh yeah I forgot to include dear theodosia reprise but “sometime last night, your mother breathed your name and like a flame, that flickered out too quickly, she died. She’s gone.”
18. “He aims his pistol at the sky. WAIT!”
19. Eliza’s gasp at the end of Who lives, who dies, who tells your story. I think you all probably know, but if you didn’t, here’s the meaning. It means the Eliza saw the audience, and realized she succeeded in telling their story.
Local Idiots all valid but hurricane is the most underrated of all
@@vickylee456 ya I just thought I would waste 30 minutes of my life on this because
Why not lol?
Great use of time what can i say
@@vickylee456 sure is
Okey but in non stop I got chills when burr went "Hamilton wrote the other 51" the build up to that point it feels like pressure and then you breathe fir a second and then it's back idk why but gives me chills

Heart of Stone..
***she sounds exactly like the soundtrack?? How?***
Natalie May Parks sang the OG Seymour soundtrack
QUEEEEEN 👑
She’s just so impressive
god isnt it weird to think how when we are old and potentially senile, these are the melodies that are going to send our minds flying back to that first time we heard it and fell in love
jesus christ aaron tveit as fiyero is something ive gone too long not knowing about thank you for blessing me
your commentary and editing is killing me
Tysm!!!
So much better in LB gets me every time. I also think about the moment in Six during K Howard's song when you really start listening to the lyrics because before you were too busy bopping. The first time I heard that song it I was like .... wait a minute.... :(
The soundtrack doesnt do it justice tbh. seeing it live is a diff experience
This is my favorite version of that song. The way she performs the emotions of the song are amazing. How each chorus changes, so good!
th-cam.com/video/awwXs6c9sjs/w-d-xo.html
the YEEAAAAHHHH and climax in Heart of Stone (Six) gives me chills no matter how many times I hear it
I WISH I could have seen Jessie as Jenna, the cast recording always gives me chills 😍
Fran Draws Same here!! I think there’s a bootleg on yt though.
I saw it with Sara bareilles acting as jenna and the she used to be mine was chilling! There was a five minute applause, literally!!
She's even more chilling live, if you can believe it
the good kid reprise in last day of summer. GOOSEBUMPS
and with matilda I just cry through the entirety of when I grow up everytime I am a baby
Finally I found another who said Cathy Parr is best
She is the best!
Bruna Bruneti couldn’t agree more
Cathy Parr all the way !!
I saw tlt and I clicked
i read that as tit i-
Mine would be Glinda’s super high “Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?” In the wicked finale as Elphaba watches from below.
The lightening thief finally getting the love it deserves
lizard wizard
So I listened to 99/100 of these songs while in the car with my lesbian crush coming back from seeing the Lightning Thief so I’m now emotionally attached to them
Vicky Lee I feel so valid thank you
omg me but my pansexual crush
Shout out to tree on a hill in the Percy jackson musical, where Grover just goes maybe if, maybe if, and he gets more and more desperate until he just ends and goes but maybe doesnt go back and save her, maybe doesnt make it all right.
I have listened to that song so many times I have lost count and I still cry every time I hear it
I'm honestly so happy that you included the ending to Hurricane/beginning of The Reynolds Pamphlet, it's by far my favourite moment in the show
i've seen natalie paris as seymour twice live and she never fails to give me chills
Percy Jackson musical is all around criminally underrated. There’s a bit in the opening song that sounds amazing. It goes like ‘So if you think you are a halfblood Better get headed to the exits now Cause folks will think you're lying Better run and don't start crying Cause you're monster chow Or stick around and maybe you'll learn from me
This ain't Odysseus' Odyssey So hear me out If you're so compelled’
Iconic moment
@@vickylee456 the entire musical is iconic
Tbh I freaking love Tree On The Hill from TLT. Grover finally got some recognition, and his song just kills me internally every time I hear it. You can hear the pain in his voice and the regret for what happened to Thalia and how he thought he could have prevented it. He sees himself as a failure because of it. And then he has to face it whenever he’s traveling with Percy. He doesn’t want Percy to die because of him making a mistake.
I just love Grover
That song makes me tear up.
when we did tlt everyone teared up backstage during tree on the hill and my grand plan :’(
Cady:... janis, im so sorry-
Janis: no- ITS FIIIIIINE-
Truly terrifying. If words could kill, the causalty in ‘Cautionary Tale’ wouldn’t be made up anymore.
I’m so glad someone mentions that opening for wicked. It’s so good live
The bit before "dear alexander" in Your Obedient Servant >>>>
your obedient servant is VERY underrated
Everyone in the D.O.A. scene were having so much fun lol would've been fun to be there
The Wicked overture is probably THE MOST epic overture in musical history. No one Mourns the Wicked in general always gives me goosebumps
Underrated musical moments: *the entirety of The Lightning Thief*
Got to see waitress on tour and I was literally crying at every song. Just chills all over. Perfection
the moment What's inside started, i was crying in the theater because i just wanted to hug her and tell her she was going to be Okay ajdkhfslk
I was supposed to see the tour a few weeks ago but obviously that didnt happen so they rescheduled it but they just canceled the tour so I don't get to see it :(
That part in dead girl walking dead reprise where everyone’s like “Woahahahahaah” is amazing
I saw wicked and the anxiety inducing intro just made me think "shit's going down"
the whole of i don’t need ur love and heart of stone are painfully underrated
Luke's solo is immediately what I thought of when I read the title and I'm so glad it got the recognition that it deserves!
@sunny 👑🎗 yes i totally agree! i think hearing the hurt in his voice definitely helps with that too.
What about the riff in "All You Wanna Do" when Aimie goes "Bite my lip and pull my hair as you tell me i'm the fairest of the fair," That part always gives me chills
I know I already commented but I DON’T NEED YOUR LOVE CAME ON at the best part so thank you
The dancing in D.O.A. is much appreciated.
YOU SURPRISED ME WITH THE LEGALLY BLONDE BUT IM GLAD NONETHELESS
NO ONE EVER GETS HOW MUCH CATHERINE PARR POPPED OFF IN THAT SONG THANK YOU AIVE NEVER BEEN MORE HAPPY THAT SOMEONE AGREES WITH MEEEE
My favs are:
All of a cup of roasted coffee from the guy who doesn't like musicals (its free to watch in a not bootleggy way on TH-cam and everytime general McNamara's theme plays in Black Friday (also on TH-cam)
Also all of nonstop
David Cobb you KNOW ive watched all of starkid’s musicals multiple times! 💯💯
Love those too! Starkid is the absolute best😖❤️🥺
The Lightning Thief causes me physical pain because of how much I love it
The end of non stop is amazing though, 100% agree on hurricane too.
Listen, when Luke reprised the Good Kid theme, I was just amazed at how much that affected me
For your consideration: That last part of 'Me and the sky' from Come From Away when she sings "and the one thing I loved more than anything was used as the bomb" just tears my heart in two, also the countermelodies (think that's what they're called) in 'Prayer' are just gorgeous
Cfa is fucking gorgeous i legit cant listen to it without crying ...
Hurricane always gives me chills cause it’s the most pivotal time that Hamilton taking his own advice of not “waiting for it” causes him to ruin his name and basically the downfall of his entire career. Writing was the one thing to save him from the hurricane in the Caribbeans when he was younger but it also turned out to be his downfall.
Underrated Six the Musical Queens:
Jane Seymour
Anne of Cleves
Catherine Parr
This video should’ve been titled ‘20 times talented people singing in canon made Vicky cry’
Also the beginning part of “Quiet” from Matilda, the opening music in the prologue of Les Mis as well as the same music when they fast forward in time to 1832 and Gaveroche starts singing. Also that part in One Day More when they’re all singing their different parts and then suddenly join in together and all sing the same thing. Also the end of “Stars” from Les Mis and the opening music and first few lines of “I’d Give My Life for You” from Miss Saigon. Tbh that’s probably one of the most beautiful musical theatre songs out there
I LITERALLY HAD CHILLS DURING "HURRICANE" WHILE WATCHING YOUR COMMENTS. GOD, I LOVE THAT SONG!!!!!! (I almost cry everytime that I remember that it's SO FREAKING UNDERRATED)
Honestly, Loud is one of the most underrated songs in Matilda. It’s freakin’ awesome
I was cold through this entire video
*thank you*
Makenzie Cogswell chilly
THE ENTIRE MUSICAL OF MATILDA IS SOOOO GOOD
This video didn't have to slap so hard.
And yet it did.
I finally fount people who love TLT musical as much as I do, it truly underrated
I also think we can all agree that Jessie Mueller's voice is hauntingly beautiful
This comments section is full of tlt appreciation go scroll
hearing the harmonizing “Live!” and the entirety I don’t need your love song live in person was basically like entering the gates of heaven
i love seeing your commentary on all the songs! this video is made so well. i love it.
Regan legit best compliment ever!!!!! I wanna make more
I wasn't expecting there to be love for Matilda tonight but I'm so incredibly happy about it. And waitress love in the same video. What a range. Love to see it.
Also this video was iconic
Thanks!!
THANK YOU DOA IS A MASTERPIECE AND I WOULD LITERALLY SELL MY SOUL TO THAT WOMAN IF SHE ASKED NICELY
I'm pretty sure the actress is called Carrie Compere
Heart of Stone makes me cry every damn time. The power in her voice is so overwhelming and emotional it tears me down immediately.
The wicked overture LITERALLY gave me chills.
I saw it live a long while ago and it WAS INCREDIBLE.
The last day of summer gives me CHILLS EVERY SIBGLD TIME. The line “you’re the lightning thief” is PERFECTLY DELIVERED. THEN WHEN THEY GO INTO GOOD KID AHHH
I came for the Percy Jackson musical appreciation and stayed for everything else
EDIT: DOA IS EVERYTHING
This Matilda and Lightning Thief appreciation is everything I stand for
Some unmentioned moments that slap just as hard but aren't there:
- “I’ve seen flashes of fire, hear the echo of screams!” from In my Dreams
- That section in Wait for it from "Hamilton doesn't hesitate, he exhibits no restraints he takes and he takes and he takes", the _buildup,_ the *_claps,_* going from the louder "I'm willing to" to the very quiet "wait for it" and then everything kicks in for the "LIFE DOESN'T DISCRIMINATE"
- That glorious crescendo in Crowd of Thousands for "the... paaaRRAADDDEE" (look for the bootleg version, the recording sounds nice and all but doesn't do it justice. In the real performance, you can *hear* the relief in Dimitry's and Anya's voices when they realize that she remembers him
- THAT clarinet solo in Thrill of First Love. You know exactly what I'm talking about
- In Still/ The Neva flows "We have a past to bury Anya!! [the Neva flows a new wind blows and soon it will be spring] the leaves unfold, the Tsar LIES COLD!" just CHILLS everytime
- The ending of And Eve Was Weak from "Father don't forsake her, father take her!"
- The ending of My Petersburg (Look I like Anastasia okay, and Derek Klena's voice is beautiful and deserves appreciation)
- All of "Land of Yesterday" (okay this is the last Anastasia one)
- All of No it Don't make sense/ There is a fountain. Parade is a great musical is all I'm saying.
- While not my favorite song on the soundtrack (Heart of Stone wins that one) No Way is a great song and I won't rest until more people love it
- The Last dance of the Romanovs (okay I lied I'm not done with Anastasia) while it's not a vocal moment (or on the soundtrack) it’s a great dance and after the attack when the vocals get darker even though it’s just “ah a ah AH” and that One Soprano’s voice sticks out (you'll know what I'm talking about if you watch it)
-Anna Kendrick's "On the steps of the palace" SHE NAILS IT
-Quartet at the Ballet. An incredible dance, beautiful medley of other songs from the show, including original Swan Lake pieces, and it’s all a framing device for my literary analysis loving ass to geek out about?? Yes please???
- The finale of Carrie the musical when Sue goes “how can I not see?” (Christy Altomare is one of my favorite people if you couldn’t tell) and then the “name please” at the end of the song
- I’m Here and also My House from Matilda, both just never fail to make me feel the feels
-”how ya feelin’” “Very frightened!” “Are you sorry?” “Are you kiddin’?!” from Chicago’s We Both Reached For The Gun
- I’m going to sound weird for this but Contraction Ballet from Waitress is actually really beautiful?? Like really haunting but calming??
- "She's not THERE" and the ending where all the voices overlap in Catch Me I'm Falling/ Make Up Your MInd
