    They were all over Belize last time i went and there were so beautiful. Went to Lowes in SA TX and low and behold they had a bunch for sale @ 1.00 each. Love them. Mine are all in pots and are beautiful inside during the Winter. Perfect Christmas Decor.

    These amazing plants grow wild here in Puerto Rico.
    We have these in pots of water while they grow roots. Then they'll go in potted soil until they get planted outside on the less sunny side of the house.

    These plants need ALOT of water. I lived in Missouri and so my plants were indoors during the cold months. All my other plants I watered once a week and this one I had to water 3 times per week. When growing indoors the leaves were green with a pink trim. They didn’t turn all pink until the warm months when I would take them outside in the direct sunlight.
    When the bottom leaves died I ended up with a long bare stalk with leaves on top. When they got ugly I cut one stalk into pieces and put it in a new pot of dirt and kept watering it. 2 of the 3 grew into new plants.
    Tropical plants are generally hard to kill. But this one does take more care.

      Thank you for your helpful reply. I live near Topeka and have a cordy red sister indoors and they lower leaves are browning so I was trying to learn why.

      I just realized mine had water in the bottom of the pot… hopefully it’s not ruined 😢

    I have these in Miami. Great plant. Many compliments from neighbors. I dug out a draceana marginata that was a shedding nightmare and replaced it with a row of red sister cordyline. As recommended in the video I have them under some tall palm trees. They are only about 3 feet from the house, facing north, so there is plenty of morning sun and then a shaded afternoon. Only issue is browning leaves when we have a dry spell during hot months and I forget to water.

    I just bought a Hawaiian Red chilli pepper cordyline from Sam's Club today. That was on the label on the pot, yet the leaves were neon reddish to an unbelievable light purple color. It was the only one that had those striking leaf color. I'm in Southern California. But sometimes we get frost. I think I'll plant it in a bigger pot and put rocks around it, then in winter bring it indoors during extreme cold.

    I live in Hawaii. I never really liked the flowers, but I've been trying to plant flowers around my house for bees, but most flowering plants get infested with bugs. Ti leaves seem to be resistant to most pest and the bees love the flowers.

    Thanks Jeff. These are hardy in the ground in the warmer areas of San Diego County, Ca.. As you noted they do need moisture, irrigation, and decent drainage, both of which need to be provided for here.

    Done fine for me for years in the bay area's z10a climate. To make a long story short- they look beat up by spring,then snap back fast when days get longer.

    LOVE this plant, and thought it would look great with Canna Lilies. Unfortunately, found in my zone 8a it is not hardy. SAD.

    I have tall Ti plants that I want to propagate. I do not know at what time of the day is better to cut. Love them, there are so beautiful, I live in South Florida and they are happy here.

    I live in Michigan and I am desperate to plant in my yard. I'm so bummed that I can't. We hardly have any vibrant plants here. Ugh. I really want to makeover my yard this spring.

    • @Mrjeffwortham
      @Mrjeffwortham  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. When you get large leaves like this they lose moisture through that big surface.
