Those who made this video try to play down the accomplishments of Burt Reynolds, as if he were just a forgettable, "B" actor or something, however, Reynolds was extremely popular in his day. He was as popular as an actor could be in his time and in his prime and the reason we do not hear more from Reynolds today, is because the man is 82 years old, for Christ's sake. What are most people doing at 82 years old ? They are at home drinking a cup of coffee and staying the hell away from people.
as a guest on Password, the word was "money" so Burt gave the contestant ( a black guy) the clue "dough" to which the black guy responded "knob". Burt busted out laughing so hard he fell off his chair and on to the floor. They had to cut away to a commercial. One of the funniest moments on TV.
I will never forget the generosity Mr. Reynolds extended to me when he allowed me to stage one of my scenes in his class and provide an honest critique. He is a true gentleman and one who gives back to his community.
Rest In Peace Burt, regardless of what this video displays, You are and will always be loved and missed. You were a great actor, voice and unforgettable laugh.
Burt was a hero to my friends and I back in the 70's when we were teenagers. I'm glad to hear he's still finding work in front of the camera. Also, apparently IN video games too! Not bad for an 80 year old.
I liked Burt in Best Friends with Goldie Hawn also and I have the DVD The Man who loved Women with Julie Andrews and Kim Basinger. I liked a lot of his films! Glad he is still around at his age.
Burt will always go down as one of my favorite actors just like Clint. I saw all their movies as a young kid in the theaters. Love them all. I wanted to be a stunt man as a kid after seeing Hooper!
Watch the dislike count rise. It's fascinating. Perhaps Looper will actually be sensitive to the mood of its viewers and remove this video, but probably not. Nearly 2 million views? I think they'll keep it, dislikes be damned somehow.
Burt was a great stuntman. Someone should make a video showing some of his great stunt work. What really ruined his career was too many wigs, women and somebody told him he was a comedian. Hollywood used him up. My favorites were Navajo Joe, Deliverance and Sharkey's Machine. Bless his heart.
He'll always be the Bandit no matter how many forgettable roles he's had and TBH I liked him as Sheriff Ed Earl in Best Little Whorehouse In Texas and it's kinda cool having Mayor Burt on your team in Saints Row 3 after dealing with the zombie outbreak.
I just saw Smokey and the Bandit in the theater a few weeks ago (40th anniversary re-release). Thanks for putting this together. He is about the REALEST actor out there. As in, a real person. Thank goodness for actors like him.
They were awfully simple, but I have always loved White Lightning and Gator. I think a lot more could have been done with that idea and Burt was the best at them.
Two things bothered me about White Lightning, concerning the Custom 500. Burt said the 429 had dual carburetors, which it didn't. Also, the soundtrack had him driving a standard, and showed him shifting a stick shift. However, when he pulled up to his parent's house, you could clearly see him putting the column shifted automatic into park. The thing is, they could have put a stick in the car, and all would have been right in the movie(and the world).
That makes this article disgusting and cruel. Do some people never grow up enough to understand the job category "Actor" and never understand they are looking at fellow human who live, love, work and die on the same time schedule we all do. Just say 'thank you' to the cool actors and actresses from older movies and be grateful for their work if it's still viable to you.
Johan Lebbing Either that or I thought HIV. I knew it wasn't from doing his own stunts in movieeslike he mentions. Just admit something Burt, we still like you..its 2017, c' mon, man
This video was very short on his best works. Gunsmoke, often considered one of the greatest TV shows of all time. Dan August, nominated for Best Actor. Deliverance, masterpiece. White Lightning, The Longest Yard (nominated for Best Actor), and Hustle were great. Smokey and the Bandit is one of the most famous movies of all time. Semi-Tough, The End, and Hooper were good. Starting Over earned him another Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. Sharky's Machine was his best work as a director and one of his best movies. He earned an Emmy for Evening Shade and a Golden Globe for his riveting performance in Boogie Nights. Burt Reynolds was one of the most popular and accomplished actors of all time.
I remember when *Sharkey's Machine* came out. It was instantly my favorite movie and IMHO was BR's finest work. Don't get me wrong... I love *Deliverance* and *Smokey & the Bandit* but for me, Sharkey's Machine was a damn good movie. If that didn't make Hollywood forgive his transgressions then nothing would. Then again, Hollywood doesn't have a goddamn clue when it comes to true acting talent. They've lost much of their credibility and their ability to recognize talent is questionable.
Hollywood Stuntman Jim Burk was my husband and he was the first Stuntman that Hal Needham actually came to the Hospital where Jim was admitted in L.A. after returning early from Durango Mexico Location for Hepatitis B and Hal asked Jim if he'd leave SAMP to join 'Stunts Unlimited'. Hal looked at me and asked, 'Would you mind Sandi?' and I laughed and said, 'Not at all. I don't do Stunts.' lol A SUPER GROUP was about to come together in Hollywood! Burt Reynolds was a close friend with Hal, Jim, Alan Gibbs, and all the fantastic Stuntmen that gladly left SAMP for Stunts Unlimited, which was a GOOD MOVE. Burt Reynolds is a very talented man and a very funny man with a great sense of humor and he loves to laugh a lot. Locations were a blast and Burt was a great Stuntman in his own right! He feared nothing but Producers feared him getting hurt and them losing money so he used the best Stuntmen in the Business! I wish him the very best as he's earned it and deserves it.
He ruled much of the seventies but yeah too much tongue in cheek stuff and crappy movies. He should have been more serious like Clint. Great career though. I don't know how the hell he went broke. WTF
Sadly, today’s news tells us that Burt Reynolds - the legend - has died at age 82. How saddening it is to me to learn from this video that he was at one point forced to sell off his own sentimental belongings. May he rest in peace.
chris johannsen - Gee whiz, why are you watching a video on an 81 year old crumbly when your youtube photo to the left shows you with a smoking hot babe?
Well, honestly age wouldn't be an unsurmountable obstacle. Christopher Lee acted well over his 80's (I think he worked till the end) and Clint Eastwood's still working. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to retire (Sean Connery did the same thing), but just saying that people in the industry working over the age of 80 aren't rare at all.
crusty ringpimple roger Moore was a nice amiable chap but come on Georgia Laznby was a better Bond than him. Burt, I am afraid would have not made a good bond. Like he said at the time , bond has to be British.
+Rob "man poses nude hes a laughing stock" I was a young adult at the time that Burt Reynolds posed nude, and in spite of what Looper claims, it did not harm his image at all. Quite the reverse - it gave him an enormous amount of publicity, and made him the darling of the talk shows. He was also in a high profile relationship with Dinah Shore, who was an older woman and incredibly famous at the time, and helped to give Reynolds a veneer of sophistication. The concurrent release of "Deliverance" proved that Burt Reynolds could act, as opposed to just flinging his body around and sliding on the ground, car bonnet, etc as he did in "Dan August". At the time, to use a cliche, the world was his oyster.
George Clooney reminds me of Burt a bit. George can be extremely funny in a dry humble way. Whereas Burt liked being the more out going stone faced prankster. If the clip of 'Burt Reynolds Farts In Mudbath' out takes from Evening Shade is around here, it has to be seen to be believed. And no one knows if Burt was doing that on cue, or got a prop person to rig it up beforehand. Funniest thing I ever seen, but still can't believe Burt kept such a straight face through it all. I think that dogged his career more than anything, saying to his agent 'I want a billion dollars for that role!' And his agent and all taking him seriously.
Why in the hell did he have plastic surgery, which ruined his looks! Aging women may need plastic surgery to keep their looks going but men just naturally take on a undescribile handsome look naturally. i've seen some men who were just "okay" when younger but aged to "very handsome"l Burt & kenny Rogers ruined their good looks thru plastic surgery.
Bert thrived on physical roles, took roids in his early days, but he just cant get those roles anymore so it sucks, but will always be the nicest bloke and the king of cool.
These millionaires always go bankrupt , that frustrates me as I know with my current lifestyle one million would stretch out for the rest of my life. They always have to have extravagant lifestyles.
You aren´t the only one who thinks that, millions of us do and don´t look up to these assholes. Just always remember that you are a much better person than they will ever be.
meanwhile Jeanne Fonda is still killing it in the screen. they are basically the same age. both their cosmetic surgery are the best in town. White people never look like that past 65
ikr? The man is in his *EIGHTIES* and they're talkin' about why we don't hear from him anymore? Are these clowns serious? Sometimes Looper doesn't make a lick'a sense...
Burt Reynolds' comedy chops were still sharp in 2006 when he played Chubby, the owner of a strip club in an episode of 'My Name Is Earl'. It probably gave him a big ego boost since 'Earl' star Jason Lee was a huge Reynolds fan. Later in the series, when Reynolds character was killed off, we were treated with 2 episodes featuring spot-on impressions of him by Norm McDonald, playing Little Chubby, Chubby's son.
Charlie Murphy yep and broken. literally cuz he used to do his own stunts and was once a stuntman kind of like Jackie chan minus the martial arts. his body is broken so while Christopher lee could still act ( cgi) Burt has major pain beyond old age.
Loni Anderson clean him out. He was a very unhappy man after that high-maintenance poon-tang ride. It was sad cuz Burt was always one of my favs especially White Lightening and Gator
The first one was great. And even the re-make had some redeeming qualities Actually, the re-make may go down in history as the last Adam Sandler "comedy" that had some real comedy to it. They also missed Smokey and the Bandit. Another great film by Reynolds.
I loved the movie Smokey and the Bandit now when I look at Burt Reynolds it's hard to believe what getting old does to your body you can't stay young and sexy forever.
Sharkeys Machine was brilliant. Even in this film he had jokey lines. But the reason why he's not around is the same as so many of Earth's population. He got OLD. Leave the guy alone.
Everyone's a smart quarterback on Monday! He seems to have a great career with many, many roles in acting... seems like a very pessimistic piece until the end.. did a lot of great stuff! I think it's life well lived
Norm Macdonald was perfect as Burt. He also did a skit with Cheri Oteri, was was playing Barbara Walters. During the interview, he suddenly gets up and leaves, much to the dismay of Cheri. He returns, to a smiling Cheri, only to pick up a magazine, and leave again.
Isn't hindsight wonderful? BR didn't take a few roles that turned out later to be great movies with other stars in them which doesn't mean shit since nobody knows at the time if a movie will be good or not no matter who is starring in them. How many movies with good actors in them turn out to be shit?
What other actors would you like to see featured next?
None.
Go the fuck away.
Donald Trump
Because ageism is the new racism. 😕😕😕😕😕😕😠😠😠😠😠💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩
Definitely continue this great series, hey why don't we hear more from Kirk Douglas these days? Why isn't anybody casting him in anything anymore???
@Looper - I'd like to see plenty as long as they aren't as negative as this one...
Burt Reynolds made his mark in the movies, and no one can ever take that away from him.
RIP Burt what a guy !! Loved your work for 40 years

unfortunately hes' gone now. so sad.
You couldn't have said it better. I agree 1000%. Rest in peace Burt.
How weird you wrote this 3 weeks before his death
as a guest on Password, the word was "money" so Burt gave the contestant ( a black guy) the clue "dough" to which the black guy responded "knob". Burt busted out laughing so hard he fell off his chair and on to the floor. They had to cut away to a commercial. One of the funniest moments on TV.
You can put him down if you want, but he is one of the nicest "Big Stars" I have ever met. He's a great guy.
You got to meet him!?
One of my favorite actors ever.
Rest in peace, Burt Reynolds! We'll never forget you, as long as we're alive!
The man was the #1 Box Office draw for 5 consecutive years. No one else had ever done that before. Deserves a mention.
It doesnt matter what some people may think about Mr. Reynolds - to me, he is one of the coolest guys in filmbiz.

Burt gave us good entertainment, thanks Burt you should have no regrets.
dudes a legend this video doesn't do him justice
I will never forget the generosity Mr. Reynolds extended to me when he allowed me to stage one of my scenes in his class and provide an honest critique. He is a true gentleman and one who gives back to his community.
r u nuts that's Burt Reynolds. ....growing up in the 70s & 80s I remember how big he was and is........he's a legend .
Sage phillip AMEN to that Sage Phillip!
He was the man back then.
Even if he did nothing else, Deliverance gave him one of the greatest movie parts in history.
BigBadJerry Rogers ...DELIVERANCE is a rough movie to watch....but it is a good movie. The best of Burt Reynolds.
But pretty fucked up for a broke has-been 80-year-old.
He was the toast of the town back then...now he's just toast...
Wow, what a negative portrayal of a great actor. Deliverance is a classic movie & the video doesn't mention The Longest Yard. Give me a break.
Larry Hinze Kuir!
Bryan Herber or white lightning
He was also the star of “The Man Who Loved Women.”
RIP BURT REYNOLDS.......
No matter what profession, everybody has their time and then exits the stage! It's the way life goes!
Thanks for all the great movies in the memories Bert awesome one hell of an actor
I never listened to movie critics, but I always liked Burt Reynolds good and bad movies.
I liked Burt in Best Friends with Goldie Hawn also and I have the DVD The Man who loved Women with Julie Andrews and Kim Basinger. I liked a lot of his films! Glad he is still around at his age.
Loved Best Friends! Everytime my glasses get covered in steam, I quote that movie.
I loved Hooper too. Neither one of those movies are shown anymore.
Burt is an icon and a movie legend!
Burt will always go down as one of my favorite actors just like Clint. I saw all their movies as a young kid in the theaters. Love them all. I wanted to be a stunt man as a kid after seeing Hooper!
Legend. R.I.P Bruce.
...is because he's dead.
Nope. Now you hear about him all the time
Watch the dislike count rise. It's fascinating. Perhaps Looper will actually be sensitive to the mood of its viewers and remove this video, but probably not. Nearly 2 million views? I think they'll keep it, dislikes be damned somehow.
Dude too soon.
Christian K good guess captain obvious!
I just found out too
He is still awesome to me.
He' s always Bandit, will Stay forever Gator!
A Hero of my youth.

the main reason we dont see him much is he is in his 80,s getting old but we still love you burt and miss you
what are you talking about till this day Burt Reynolds is one of the best actors ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love you Burt Reynolds, and I always will...

Burt Reynolds, from Gator.
Lana!!!

They left out a lot of good flicks like gator, Hooper, semi tough, longest yard etc.
Y’all made this just a few months to early... Rest In Peace Bandit.
he is definitely Bandit
It's because Archer kidnapped him.
He's currently in an mental ward with total amnesia under someone else's name.
I believe he has parkinson`s disease, he is shaking with his hands, can`t get up from a chair and more.
That`s what his good friends say.

Burt Reynolds was a great actor.
East bound and down. the bandit is a legend. big part of my childhood.

He lives in my condo complex in Jupiter, FL. He is a very nice man, very polite.
and no reference to the gator mclosky movies or the longest yard wtf
The Longest Yard! Not even mentioned. Come on, great movie. Still would watch him.

Sadly, today’s news tells us that Burt Reynolds - the legend - has died at age 82.
How saddening it is to me to learn from this video that he was at one point forced to sell off his own sentimental belongings.
May he rest in peace.
Gee whiz why aren't we seeing more of that 81 year old guy?!?
Chris Johannsen ... cuz play girl magazine fold couple of decades back when you could get porn for free on the internet
chris johannsen - Gee whiz, why are you watching a video on an 81 year old crumbly when your youtube photo to the left shows you with a smoking hot babe?
David Earea that smoking hot babe is my wife and we both work. But thanks.

Burt would have been awesome in Pretty Woman. Sorry to hear he turned it down. Love you Burt and always will.
Burt fucking Reynolds is a legend!!!
A living legend.
Johan Lebbing always will be!
l agree delon and would have to a better bond than the actors that came after Sean Connery! What an elegant man .
are you kidding? sir roger moore came after connery, the best bond ever!!!!! nobody could have done it better...
crusty ringpimple roger Moore was a nice amiable chap but come on Georgia Laznby was a better Bond than him. Burt, I am afraid would have not made a good bond. Like he said at the time , bond has to be British.
Still blows away today's millennial generation of actor's .
You forgot The End (1978) which I enjoyed and would watch it again :) great job, Burt and the rest of the star-studded cast .
To be fair we here in South Florida hear from him all the time.
The Cannonball run is one of my favorite comedies
Dwayne johnson
Gil Moat
Ummm, Who is the WORST Actor and Lamest WWE Personality Ever.
Alex Trebek; *CORRRRECT!!!*
I can't stand Looper's superficial narration and editing.

Rob good point
If Amy Schumer poses nude.. I might want to kill my self.

Max Payne You are dead right. I know the feeling.

So handsome and such personality. Loved him and his acting.
He just passed. Sad to see an icon go but as an Everyman he left a hell of a legacy.
Because people don't keep steadily acting when they're 80 unless they're Morgan Freeman or Jack Nicholson.

These are starting to get a little mean spirited you guys. How about a "The Real Reason Looper has run out of good ideas." 🤔
Reynolds was brilliant in Deliverance. That's it. Over and out.
Because he's old
Yes u r right charlie i also think the same ;)
Age is not that important, Christopher Lee played in LOTR after the age of 80.
92 yrs at the battle of the five army!
Old and F'd up.
Charlie Murphy yep and broken. literally cuz he used to do his own stunts and was once a stuntman kind of like Jackie chan minus the martial arts. his body is broken so while Christopher lee could still act ( cgi) Burt has major pain beyond old age.

Smokey and The Bandit @ 12. That's what got me into CB & Truckn. Still 'The Bandit' to me 10/4
Great lakes bandit got a copy of you break break
nice you missed The longest yard in your video, talk about a great movie
The first one was great. And even the re-make had some redeeming qualities Actually, the re-make may go down in history as the last Adam Sandler "comedy" that had some real comedy to it.
They also missed Smokey and the Bandit. Another great film by Reynolds.
Umm....they did mention Smokey and the Bandit. lol
Rexfellis mm
atran, no, they mentioned Smokey and the Bandit 3.
His best was interacting with Ken Curtis' Fesus on Gunsmoke as "Commanch".
Long live the Bandit.
I loved the movie Smokey and the Bandit now when I look at Burt Reynolds it's hard to believe what getting old does to your body you can't stay young and sexy forever.
Burt rocks😎😎😎
Sharkeys Machine was brilliant. Even in this film he had jokey lines. But the reason why he's not around is the same as so many of Earth's population. He got OLD. Leave the guy alone.
No mention of the longest yard great film
And Hooper was a good one
Hooper was great.
You don't hear from him because he got old and is enjoying life and his golden years. Leave him alone
Maybe the reason we don't really hear from Burt Reynolds is because he's in his *EIGHTIES*. Christ almighty, give the man a break...
Wow nice video, Burt Reynolds i like this actor. cool guy, good actor.

Oh yeah, I think he wore a big hat...because it's funny. He really nailed that "Swords" category.

Steven Baumann Turd! Funny!
Andrew M he really did a great impersonation! He even looked like a young version of him.
He was a star...plain and simple...
Isn't hindsight wonderful? BR didn't take a few roles that turned out later to be great movies with other stars in them which doesn't mean shit since nobody knows at the time if a movie will be good or not no matter who is starring in them. How many movies with good actors in them turn out to be shit?
