Wow, you put SO MUCH WORK into this video! I am looking forward to seeing your channel grow as I am sure it will. A previous video on the style roots helped confirm what I I had previously decide mine are (Mushroom, Moon, Fire) and I really enjoy these related videos. I never thought about my articles of clothing hitting 1, 2 or all three roots in a single garment so that is interesting. Usually they hit one and then I combine them in an outfit to have all three.
Wow! What a lot of work went into this exhaustive analysis of jeans for the Style Roots! I'm very impressed. Moreover, this video helped me to understand the Style Roots better and to see how to manifest them in outfits. Thank you!!!
@@Deem57 thank you Dawn, it was about 100 hours 😅😅 I'm glad it was helpful, jeans are definitely one of the hardest things to analyse, so I'm glad this helped to see the system in action and see how to put them in outfits!
Wonderful video! I love your videos and the level of detail they include! They must take so long to put together, but I’m always eagerly waiting for your next upload! I’m a 🪨🌸☀️ trying to curate a capsule wardrobe now that I’m back at work after maternity leave and all your videos are so helpful, so thank you 😄
@@kyahgrigolon6724 I'm so glad you find them helpful! What a wonderful combination, I think any flower + sun jeans will work, some better for work and some better for casual / free time!
I love your take on the Style Roots. The idea of "looking for what you need" via a visual style language really helps me put words around how I approach clothes. Using the style roots method book I come out as Stone Earth Moon left to my natural leanings - which doesn't easily lend itself to an office setting, but because I work in a more formal area in a professional office, I need more formality even though we're allowed jeans as part of our business casual attire. I call it my 'Work Cosplay' but when I look at it through this lens, it feels less cosplay and more of a choice to meet a lifestyle need. So I choose Mountain jeans when I wear jeans in the office - very dark indigo wash, straight leg. Classic and as formal and structured as jeans get, a black silk blouse and a soft blazer style cardigan. Still jeans. Still authentically me, but also appropriate to the needs of the setting.
@@skhootman I absolutely love this, thank you for sharing! I can appreciate that stone / earth is much harder to dress for the office than say mountain or mushroom! But it sounds like you've found out a way to add bits of mountain while keeping it dark, earthy tones, and still jeans!
Thank you for this, I recently got my style roots 🌱🪨🍄 and started creating a moodboard , this video really helps. You do a good job with explaining style roots in details. Well done ❤ Please I'll like to know if you'll be doing more on others like tops, dresses and shoes ?
@@ameliaaliyu7635 thank you Amelia! I'm glad you found this helpful! These style roots sound great for classic simple wide leg jeans from lighter fabric! I'm definitely planning to do more items for the style roots, probably jumpers next! These are really labour- intensive videos to make haha, so I'll definitely have to pace myself (this was about 100 hours!)
Awesome video:) the more I engage with content about the style roots, the more sure I get that I actually have fire in my mix, even though sometimes it might be hard to express. The picture of those super-exaggerated bell bottoms just made my heart sing! Also, I find that some of my roots are a bit fluid and dependant on the situation and mood, even hormones. Office makes me a lot more in mood for mountain, holiday for stone, and certain times a month are definitely more fire than others. I do find sometimes I feel like I just have to have some sun in, and sometimes I don't have such need, but once I introduced something bright and fun intovmy outfit, my mood improves. I'd be interested in your thoughts on such changes, as I bet you'll have some sort of insight that will give me a lightbulb moment:).
@@mirandaosmelak480 thank you for watching Miranda! I think that it is unrealistic to expect ourselves to fit super tightly into a group of three roots, when there are so many other factors! I'd say the place we're going to, who's around, are we part of a group or are we the one people look at, the time of the month, the weather, and our mood - all factor in! Have you watched my previous video on the style roots? I shared 4 of my outfits, and you can see there that the weather plays a big part for me in which roots I lean on! And recently I realised that toward my period, I definitely lean more stone - even though I don't have it as a root, but I use items from it together with my regulars, because I need a looseness and sense of relaxation that I don't need in other times!
Brilliant video with such thorough research and so much hard work evident in it, once again, Mili. There are a few points where I've interpreted roots differently to you but I love the inspiration and just listening to you talk with such enthusiasm and knowledge.
This is so thorough!!! I had different associations for some of the jeans so it was interesting to hear your reasoning for those. This gave me so much to think about!
@@EmL-kg5gn thank you for watching! I'm glad it gave you something to think about! I'm definitely not claiming this is set in stone, I think it's more about how you feel in the jeans etc - but overall I tried to go out from the source (Ellie jean) as much as possible!
Where I live dark wash and black jeans are more formal, I’d always put them in mountain if they’re plain and in one of the more standard cuts. There’d have to be other details like raw hems for me to consider them as having any other influence! And if there were extra details then suddenly they wouldn’t be mountain at all. I think my other differences in opinion were just from personal feelings 😊 It’s amazing how many associations are involved in how we interpret something as simple as jeans!
@ Oh I wouldn’t interpret you that way! You’re so good at sharing new perspectives on things 😊 I love how you always note where your interpretation differs from what she says. It’s so fun to see the different ideas!
@@Keapix ohh that's fantastic to hear!! Definitely took me a while to analyse all the different elements! What are your roots / jeans if you don't mind me asking?
@@GIBate yeah I think they're really useful, for me especially thinking about what your style needs are (what you need in an outfit)! Thanks for watching:))
So thorough and helpful ❤ I think the slider spectrum will be the easiest to keep in mind. I have been wondering if I have/add stone🪨 to my roots because I wear jeans (pants) a lot, but after this I'm more sure that they go well with my SRs and are the versatile/practical pieces to my wardrobe. c:
Thanks for watching! If you haven't seen my previous style root video, definitely have a look - I show a lot of examples and outfits there too, so the sliders feature heavily!

Wow this is incredible! So thorough! Thank you so very much for doing this deep dive! You rock, girl! ❤
Thanks Vania, I am so glad you enjoyed this deep dive - it took a while to make it, but I had fun!
Wow! This was detailed! I realized just how boring my jeans are…and I’m kinda ok with that! Guess that confirms some mushroom in my mix 😊
Haha I feel you! To be honest even though I have sun in my roots, I don't like expressing it with my jeans! Mushroom makes great staple jeans!
