Maybe the Zekes are accurate, but the Tomcats aren't. The Tomcats in "The Final Countdown" were from VF-84, which was part of the air wing assigned to the Nimitz at that time. These are in the markings of VF-1, which had been on Enterprise, but by the time of the release of "The Final Countdown" was on Ranger. Nimitz at that time was Atlantic Fleet, whereas Ranger and Enterprise were Pacific Fleet (Nimitz embarked CVW-6, code AE. Enterprise and Ranger embarked CVW-14 and Ranger embarked CVW-2, both had tail codes starting with N, as is designated for the Pacific Fleet. These are Pacific Fleet Tomcats.)
what is amazing is that this actually shows how zeroes would actually counter enemy aircraft by doctrine. During the filming of the original Final Countdown scene,, the ones flying the Texans (aka zeroes) are forgot to be brief to use Turn and burn tactics, and used the typical BnZ against ithe Tomcats.
This Happened in DECEMBER 1989.. COUP DE ETAT IN THE AQUINO GOVERMENT ASKED U.S MILITARY ASSISTANCE.. BUT INSTEAD THE UNITED STATES USED F-4 PHANTOMS... INSTEAD F-14'S.. WE COULD SEEN THE MOVIE RECREATED IN THIS... COUP ATTEMPT..
there a novel about modern japan got transfer to a fantasy but they not the only one who got transfer..there also a one ww2 tech empire also got transfer and decide to pick a fight with the entire world including japan..the novel called Nihonkoku shoukan
The only not so realistic part that the 20 mm Vulcan would have ripped the Zeke to shreds and the pilot would have no chance of bailing out. Wasting an Aim-9 on the other was more for a kick for the audience but I still love this scene
Would have been better if you could've had VF-84 skins on the Tomcats instead of VF-1, but other than that not bad. Now we need the F-16 so we can reenact scenes from the two Iron Eagle movies.
New side by side comparison with the original movie scene:

I can tell this is historically accurate, great job!

After 42 years, the Tomdog managed to shoot down two SU57.

Give it about a year and we will have this scenario in rb.

I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison - those camera angles clearly remind me of those movie scenes! Nice work : D

Nice work really happy to see this done in War Thunder!
Those tomcats would just freaking fly by those zeros like nothing
Excellent job! The attention to detail is amazing. Got me wanting to rewatch the movie and play more war thunder all at the same time.
Well done, I especially like this cut right here, very faithful to the actual movie. 1:46
Underrated movie, love the work

I put off watching this movie for years. Finally got around to it last night. It was spicy
Really good camera angles and overall remake! Although you could've used some userskins that could make it more authentic
I cant put user skins on more than 1 airplane
I remember when this movie came out it was like how top gun is with most. Love the work mien friend:D
This was quite enjoyable. Thanks for sharing!
I think we all know what part 1:50 is xDDDD
Que MAGNÍFICO trabajo, para homenajear a un avión legendario y a una película que ya es un clásico .
Un verdadera belleza de vídeo.👍👍👍😉😉😉🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲💯💯💯
Incredible!
Wow this was good!
you fucken aced this, finding this blew me away like that sidewinder to the IJN pilot :P
I really liked this film, and the music
pretty dang cool
Wonder what would have happened if they buzzed CLOSE to them above Mach.

Admit it,... you didn't make it 😜🤣
No he made it, the but he didnt listen to my instructions to pull out immediately after the pass so it ruined the shot
F-14A’s prone to issues, and still bad ass!
Shark on a minnow
This is epic
Good Shit
I knew it was only a matter of time before someone would make this, just wait till we get the Jolly Rogers skins for them :)
I'd like to imagine the Zeros pilots being like WTF is that and panicking like no tomorrow... instead of giving stern looks at the F-14s.

aircraft just came out with 0 extra skins, nothing else was possible
This meme is a classic lol.
The only flaw with this is the fighter squadron in the film is the VF-84 Jolly Rogers squadron and this is the VF-1 Wolfpack squadron
there's no VF-84 skin, it wasn't possible
The Tomcat is still on the dev server. I'm sure we'll have all kinds of Tomcat skins being made once the update goes live.
@@Orca19904 we can't put user skins on multiple aircraft in a cinematic, it just wasn't possible, no need to make such a fuss
