Kyu did exactly what he did with "Wild Flower" in this song. He toned it down a notch to fit his range just so he can showcase that amazing control and resonance without sacrificing the beauty and emotions of the song. If you know him, he would never go for the belting just so he can say he can while risking strain in the end. He stuck to his methods and abilities and that maturity just enables him to give out performances that outshines the last one he did. I have no words on how proud I am that he owned this song techniques and emotion wise.

What a moron, you can't showcase control if that control is done at a pitch that normal people can also control. That is just absurd.
If you strain then it's not belting anymore, if you can sing it at the original key then you need to able to say that you did it without risking.
Rearrangement only makes the song easier and more fit, it doesn't make it the better version.

What I love about his performances is that he doesn’t try to sing exactly like the original singer, instead he’s singing it in his own way without reducing the meaning of the song thus making the song like his own. Many people sang this song in its original key (which is very high) to show off their vocal without realising that they’re actually screaming and straining their voice. Kyuhyun is a good and smart vocalist who knows his voice well. Anyway his song selections for KOMS so far is really really good. He’s really going all out. He went there with the intention to win and he did and he also doesn’t seem to want to let go of the throne anytime soon. Looking forward to many more defensive stages from you Jinie-nim. Hwaiting!!!
You can't say that singing in the original key is screaming, you can't scream an entire song.
If one can sing like the original, he is already a very good singer. Rearrangement doesn't make you a better singer, it only gives you better performance than what you would've done, if they can sing it on the fifth, they can also sing it like this guy, it's just easier than the original.

Why would he do otherwise in a competition? -_- Still doesn't take away from the fact that he gave a great performance and the proof is that he won. You sound as if he cheated by using a voice corrector or auto tune or something...

I think it's because they have time to rest. Before they enlisted, they're busy with album recordings, music show, concert tours, interviews, and various variety shows. So when they finally enlist, they are only focus on army. Maybe still practice but not that hard like usual.

Emm I think it's because he's always been this good? But he didn't receive much spotlight back then ((even though his performances were magnificent nonetheless)) since singing related shows were not that big compared to its popularity now. I recommend checking Kyuhyun's performances in Immortal songs (I really love "Etude of Memory"), his solo at super shows/smtown concerts, his live performances such as "As Time Goes By", "Snail", "That man", "Nothing's better", "Snow flower", his other sukira lives, and this goes without saying, his OSTs ("listen.. to love", "way to break up", and "hope is a dream that doesn't fall asleep" to name a few)
EDIT: Please check out kyuhyun's solo from yoon jong shin monthly project (2011), "Late Autumn", not mentioning this song is blasphemy for his other performances.

This jinie has a wide vocal range he can sing in 4 octaves and He already proves that he can hit the high notes really well so I think he can choose to sing the songs in whatever key he wants!!He already know his voice and his strengths so well So who cares if a person who can’t reach his level doesn’t like while the entire people there were so in love with his voice and his unrivaled resonance He did such an amazing work as always !!!

There are a very select few people who can actually sing in 4 octaves and out of all the Singers in the US, only the exceptionally talented and gifted Singers such as Ariana Grande can do it. Even if he didn't go for the high note like the original singer did, he still manage to deliver a touching performance. Celebs (they tend to exaggerate their reaction) & female audience aside, look at the male audience. They were touched & in awe with his voice so he did a pretty good job imho. This song is just so beautiful and timeless... I've heard other singers did a cover for this, but I personally think that Kyuhyun had the most amazing version here in KOMS. He conveyed with pure emotions and it was very heartfelt. He did not sing this exactly the same as Naul's way, yet he genuinely sang it perfectly. That's really rare.
