In the montage, they legit had Amanda Bynes copying random guys walking around. The guys' reactions were genuine. Also, the props department had to make a special tampon to fit in Amanda's nose for this film. There are so many great quotes in this film. Easily in my top 5 favorites of ALL time.
This is another work of literature made into a teen movie. _Clueless_ was based on Jane Austen's _Emma_ . _Ten Things I Hate About You_ was based on Shakespeare's _Taming of the Shrew_ . This movie was based on Shakespeare's _Twelfth Night_ . And _Easy A_ was based on Hawthorne's _Scarlet Letter_ .
Amongst all the gender swapping and mistaken identities and everything going on, by far the most unrealistic thing in this entire movie is her not putting her hair up in a ponytail for the final game! That would simply never happen!
I loved this movie so much as a kid! Obviously it's extremely goofy and over the top and it has so many of the cliche early 2000s tropes in it, but that's why I love it! The nostalgia this movie holds for me, no matter how old I get I still die laughing at it like im 10 again!
If you liked that, you might like 18 again (1988). And if you've enjoyed She's the man, you may like Just one of the guys (1985). That is what She's the man was loosely based on.

I've read (or heard) that Jack Black was Amanda's inspiration for her improvising and acting skills for this film. I can't remember where I got that info, but it worked.
My favorite Amanda Bynes movie is Sydney White. A modern retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I love every single character in it, even the "evil" ones.
This was inspired by Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Wasn’t a fan of the “boy makeover” but Amanda’s acting made up for it for me. There’s so many things to nitpick in this movie. Despite that, it did it’s job which was make me laugh.

Since you like Amanda Bynes I highly reccomend watching her sitcom What I like about you, its really funny plus you also get Jenny Garth who I absolutly love (she is most known for Beverly hills 90210 aka Kelly) :)
This was the time classic works retold as Rom Com's were popular. Clueless (Emma) 10 Things I Hate About You (Taming of the Shrew), this one is based on Twelfth Night. I used to go see all of them when they came out in the theater lol
I love this movie! I know it's silly and cheesy but I don't care. Amanda Bynes was amazing in this , her humor just hits me right. It's just a cute and fun time. I'm so glad you reacted to it. I love the variety of movie genres on your channel!!
When I was in elementary school, the physical education teacher asked the students to choose a movie about sports and make a summary, and everyone would read their own summary in class, and then everyone would vote for which movie to show in the next class. I remember that I had chosen this film and it was chosen to be shown, today after 9 years I don't think I would choose it, also because the football thing is something very secondary lol
So what other modern day retellings should Mellverse see? 10 Things I Hate About You (Shakespeare adaption)? Get Over It (very VERY loose Shakespeare adaption)? Never Been Kissed (another very VERY loose Shakespeare adaption)? Clueless (Jane Austen adaption)? Bride and Prejudice (Jane Austen adaption)?
Please consider watching the 1996 movie of 'Twelfth Night'! It's set in the 19th century instead of the 16th century, it's starring Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Kingsley, the boy makeover is shorter, there's a drunken party this movie misses out on, a prank that's hilarious until it goes too far, and two fight scenes, both hilarious because during one neither party knows what they're doing, and in the other one one party thinks they know what they're doing and the other party actually knows what they're doing and a funny bathtub scene as well. Please consider it? Please?
I grew up watching this movie. It's one of my fav childhood movies. This movie has so many quotable lines. I love Amanda Bynes. I grew up watching All That then the Amanda Show, so this movie is a win.
Wait! I've seen this movie a million times before and I've never noticed that at 6:17 Amanda slowly blinks one eye for some reason, like that's not a wink, what is that 😂
23:01 According to 'Kinky Boots' (the musical version at least) the point of the heel in the high heel is "lifting the rear and making it appear pert and ready for mating season" rather than smaller. Also supposed to accentuate the breasts as well apparently. According to season 3 of Mrs Maisel high heels can also be used as a weapon to leave the guy stunned or in enough pain so that you have time to run away, and they never see it coming.
14:50 I got to dissect a squid in 10th grade. I remember our teacher letting us go crazy and do whatever we wanted to them after we did the assignment.
I'm surprised you didn't check out "Just One of The Guys". It came out in the '80's. It's the original version of this movie, only difference is the girl is a reporter for her school pretending to be a dude in another school for a paper in her class. Great film as well and worth checking out. :)
Hi Mellverse. Loved your commentary reaction as always. Its truly good how they can translate a Shakespeare play into a modern day film. Amanda Bynes was yes was so goofey and over the top but that's what the role called for. Sad what she went through she is such a beautiful girl . I hear she is doing well now . Hope your doing well untill the next one 💜
Speaking as a third party objective with absolutely no personal interest in the matter, I will always love this movie. Amanda Bynes was a queen of physical comedy.
In the early 00’s skinny culture was HUGE and small butts was the goal. Big butts were associated with being fat. Most of the media from this time displays this.

8:07 I think Principal Horatio Gold is supposed to be Feste the Fool, because there is no Horatio in 'Twelfth Night'. But if so then they completely missed the point of Feste. Horatio Gold here is a fool in this movie because he is an idiot and because when we're not slightly creeped out by his being too intimate with his students we're laughing at him. Malcolm Festes in the movie has Feste's name but he is clearly Malvolio since he has an unrealistic crush on Olivia, is so vain that he actually believes he has a chance with her, is a pompous, pretentious prat, and wears yellow socks, and because of that we laugh at him - plus don't tell me you can't see someone saying to him a modern translation of "Dost thou think, because thou art virtuous, there shall be no more cakes and ale?". Feste in Twelfth Night is a fool as in that's his job, to make people laugh, but not as in laughing at him, as in laughing with him at everyone else, so he's witty rather than stupid. That's my biggest issue with this movie.

but do you like cheese?
Amanda Bynes' comic timing is so good, she makes it look natural. She stole every scene she was in during "Easy A."
I love that Amanda advocated for Channing to be cast as the co lead! Their comedic timing is hilarious 😂
Every single time I laugh too hard at Channing Tatum hitting the other character with the towel … just the sound he makes lol
He made that noise because Channing actually hit him in the eye.
