'In those days'? He is 64 here if the date is right. In '68 to '71 was his prime playing, before his heroine hermitage. Clapton was amazing even as a drunk in the late '70s into early '80s (sometimes). But him sober from '91 on is arguably better. Drug get in the way of the music and he was drugged for over 30 years.
What am I missing? It sounds like typical, colorless, predictable, repetitive wanking overkill. It sounds like every other solo he has played for the last 50 years. Same solo different song..lol
Being a lifelong Clapton fan it is gratifying to read currently what I have said since the late 1960s....nobody, and I mean nobody, puts together a solo and coaxes the emotion out of a single or a series of notes like Eric. My favorite heartfelt solo from Eric was another version of Old Love, from Albert Hall, from a different year. But it has just been pre-empted by this version. Actually I love them both. Clapton's version of "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright", that I saw him play on a Bob Dylan Tribute show, that PBS aired, is another good one. I finally found an audio copy of it, I forget where, but it was Live at Madison Sq. Garden October 1992.
I've had the conversation with so many people that like to dismiss him, mostly because he didn't die young like Hendrix. Whatever your opinion on his music over the years there is no other guitarist who plays lead with as much power and emotion as Clapton.
Clapton is the absolute best I've ever heard. I've been listening since the Mayall days , Cream and his solo career and have seen him in person. He puts it ALL out there and gives you everything he has.!!!, What a great player who battled addiction and actually became a better player , sober. Thanks , Eric!

this is one of the best pieces of music i heard... i really really love his style.. he tells a story with the guitar and its one hell of a journey i feel it. the guitar starts with the "crying" noise and slowly speeds up and then he switch sound slowly towards the more positive and bright, its a masterpiece of guitar solo played to perfection. atleast i think.

FACT-During a live concert in England he made several/numerous racist comments ,calling coloured people wigs ,coons ,etc Exceptionally derogatory racist insults.He also demanded coloured people leave England.
He also praised a known racist politician-ENOCH POWEL-as well as making several other racist comments, FACT
Since then he has defended his comments
These are FACTS which are NOT debatable .Hence a simple conclusion Erikkk is believed to be a racist

@@anilrandev2081 I know that Mr. Clapton said racist things but 1) he was drunk 2) he later declared he is ashamed of that declarations. He said that he WAS a racist, and that It didnt have a sense cause he has many black Friends, he had a black girlfriend, he helped to spread black music. i don't know if spreading ethnical music is racist. You probably do. Do you know Who B. B. King was? He was a friend of Clapton's, and he was black. So don't tell me Clapton Is racist, I know he was, but he certainly Is not now.
Another of literally dozens of inspired performances. I think my favorite moment (at the time of this writing, haha) is @5:50 through 6:05. I also love the distorted bend he uses to lead into the chorus shortly after.
