Hm, I think the risk-reward with BRK is better than a ETF on the SP500......valuation wise I would recommend reading the annual report from Chris Bloomstran,Semper Augustus Funds. I strongly believe he knows BRK as good as anybody outside of BRK can understand and value the entire company. Nice seeing you back on yt Sven😃
Well, you kind of valued BRK and said in your opinion it's not in your risk-reward scenario and I'd argue that one could make the case that BRK can be valued at approx. 340~350$/B share. Of course the World can change and BNSF or BHE could stop making more Cashflow each year. It's always personal how you value and see businesses, that's what you always say and I agree.
Welcome back. I have bought very few of Brk, last winter. I think for psychological reason, when you fear the future it is preferable to deal with an asset that demonstrate in time to have steadiness towards business.
I was so happy to see this video pop up on the top of my page as soon as i opened youtube. You provide so much value and great content for so many, hope to see many more for many years to come! Thanks Sven!
Fully owned businesses ~34b, agree. Stock portfolio I get ~17.5b, not 8b. The stock portfolio generate a combined ~22b for BRK, but ~4.5b are dividends already included in the 34b. So full earnings should be around 34b+17.5b = ~50-51b conservative. Those 17.5b earnings belong to BRK but are allocated by the stock portfolio CEOs.
sven I told you sold too early. did you ever do a valuation ex-cash and ex-equities. Also what about all brk competitors trade at 30x earnings while brk trade at 10x? Also it's performance during inflation is stellar, how much is this fact worth?
You covered this stock so many times calling it to expensive while it’s beating the market for decades now. Value investing can be in some cases very complicated.
It's about YOUR personal risk reward ratio. Sven has a higher yield he wants to achtete, that is probably not possible anymore looking at how massive BRK has become
@@DS-ls2jm Berkshire was highly undervalued at 185. i sold as the S and p 500 seemed to be a better low risk option with similar returns going forward.
Surely the market will wake up one day and say we are just buying a balloon that gets bigger and bigger but actually providers no value to those who own the stock except through price appreciation due to growing market capitalisation size but if it never ever pays a dividend then it actually provides no utility . If I’m a “ business owner “ then I want a dividend share of the profit . If it never pays dividend then the utility of the company is Zero !
Still better than most stocks and real asset inflation has helped them(e. G. Oil, electricity prices) I just wish he'd dump some apple, it's so expensive at these levels relatively.
Putting well-earned money into the stock market can be over emphasized for first-time investors, unlike a bank where interest is sure thing! Well, basically times are uncertain, the market is out of control, and banks are gradually failing. I am working on a ballpark estimate of $5M for retirement, and I have a good 6-figure loaded up for this, could there be any opportunity for a boomer like me? I'm nearly 60.
Sincerely it's best to seek an advisor right now, unless you're canny yourself. As a business owner in both the service industry and eBay reseller of all product categories, I can tell you we’re in a deep recession and everyone is running out of money
@kumarsingh.. This is useful information; I copied her whole name Teresa Lynn Carmi and pasted it into my browser; her website appeared immediately, and her qualifications are excellent; thank you for sharing.
Why can't Walgreens stop sinking for no real reason? Revenue is there, cashflows are there, it was a "pretty simple stable company, nothing to fear here", remember? How can this be? It is trading as if it is going bankrupt tomorrrow...
@@Value-Investing Well it strikes me as more of a potential value investment than looking at Berkshire for the millionth time, when it still trades at more than 20x earnings. Revenues are growing and margins have taken a hit, but the stock has sunk 40% YTD from the mid-30s, which already seemed like an objective fair value - even if margins stay subdued and revenues stagnate from here. The selloff seems way overdone.
That is the inverse of the PE ratio. Basically it is saying that if you put in $100 you’re earning $5 on that in the last year, I.e a 5% return. You may ask why invest in a stock that earns 5% when you can get the same in a bond or even bank deposits. Well that the complicated part and partly it’s because the assets they hold will make returns forever and can increase their returns along the way
Good to have you back Sven

Please make a video on why Berkshire has a lot of tiny holdings less than 1%. I would love to know what is the strategy behind it?
Dr. Carlin nice to have you back. Greetings from Bogotá, Colombia.

Fair assessment. Thanks for the video, Sven. And welcome back!
Six months ago September 23 this stock was at $367 a share. March 16th 24 its at $408. You tell me if it was a good buy?
of course, but good luck chasing stocks that will go up 15% next six months, here we do long-term value investing which is different.

@@DS-ls2jm no it’s not!
It’s more risk buying a bad company for a value price than buying a great company that is expensive.
I called it cheap in March 2020 :-) Even bought myself...
@@Value-Investing thought it was expensive but still a buy because of stability
Not true, he said that it was a no brainer in 2020. And I thank him for that because it was my first investment and I doubled with low risk
Thanks Sven. In MAY 2020, based on your analysis, I bought several shares at 185. But was so dumb to sell at 235 in early 2021.
