    I love my motu 828es...the sound quality is excellent. I have a RME UFX also and the sound quality is the same. No real difference. Highly recommended.

    I had Tascam, Steinberg, Focusrite, and UAD for a while before switching to the MOTU 828es, and I don't even miss the UAD, especially now that the plugins can run without their interface. No doubt this version will perform really well. It's rock solid and never crashes.

    Bought this interface the day of the release. I then purchased a mint condition Midas analog 32 channel console for the price difference of a RME interface with the same feature. Never had an issue!

    Had a Motu MKII back in the Day... Solid az..... Upgraded to an ensemble...... Love it! But , with Apple dropping FW Core Audio support with OSX12, ive been looking into a new I/O.. Was going to go RME, but I think youve just sold me on this.. Thanks..
    Subbed.

    Good info. MOTU doesn't get enough praise from the TH-cam world, probably because they're not blanketing 1000 channels with things on the day or release. I had an 896HD for 18 years and they only stopped supporting it in 2021 or 2022. It was firewire, but was great.
    Really $1200 isn't expensive for high quality equipment. I came up in the days of 24 track tape machines that were $30k then. 4 track cassette recorders were hundreds of dollars.

    Nice explanations (and funny)! This helped me understand separate monitor/headphone mixes. Does each new monitor mix require a pair or L/R outs? I have a Motu 624 and was considering the inexpensive (cheap) Behringer ADA8200 to gain extra inputs via ADAT. I believe the 624 has: x2 1/4" guitar ins, x2 XLR mic ins, and x2 (pair L/R or x4 mono) analog ins, x1 ADAT, x2 (pair L/R or x4 mono?) analog outs, and x1 (pair L/R) main out. I'm cornfused about the inputs on the Behringer ADA8200. They are XLR and say mic/in but also have line/in on each of the 8 inputs. Could you pair these for a stereo input, e.g. use 1 & 2 on the Behringer as an L/R pair for a keyboard, or other instrument that has L/R outs?

    Hey !Can you help me with a question since you know far more than me?I prioritize ANC and comfort and I have these options;(edifier WH950NB, sony wh750b, 1more sonoflow, anker soundcore q30 and space one)what option is better?you can sugest something else if you know

    • @micandcampro
      @micandcampro  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, thanks for your trust in me! I can absolutely recommend the edifier wh950nb, they have a phenomenal battery runtime, better then average anc and offer anc also for the microphone while in a call. I tested this in my German review over here: th-cam.com/video/9_G-kFO05jk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tRUJ84n_M8J3jxgs
      You could check the sound comparison and the microphone test. The soundcore also offer good anc, but only for listening, not for the microphone. Although the mic offers good quality audio for your conversation partners. (I'm not officially allowed to talk about that yet, but soundcore "could" present a new pro-series headphone soon... Maybe waiting a few weeks for that could be worth it! 🤫) The Sonys are also good at sound and anc, but a colleague has one of them and complains about connectivity problems when anc is on, which is weird... In deed i often recommend the edifiers, be it the 950 or even the 820nb ( th-cam.com/video/T65OU1hMz3U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NoRfz7Lj1ZbLCfDM ) if you're more on a budget. In deed I use my 820's for hearing protection in my wood workshop and they work exceptionally good for that, besides they do also sound great😅 I don't know the 1more ones, but i have the comfobuds from them, which are good in ear buds, still i can't tell anything about the ones you listed. The wh950nb would be my choice for bang for buck.

    To my understanding the adat connectors are already included in the overall count of in and outs. And also the mic inserts are just inserts for the two microphone channels on the front and no input for microphones. Perhaps you can use the output of an external mic preamp to get it into the 828 through those return jacks. But that would interrupt the signal flow from the 828‘s own mic inputs. At least that‘s how my 828 (even if it‘s an older version) works. I have the older firewire versions from motu. And by versions I mean I also have an Ultralite mk3 which can be daisy chained with the 828 mk3 via Firewire in and output.

    • @micandcampro
      @micandcampro  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think so too, you're right with the adat's! And the inserts can be used as mic ins (for dynamic mics at least) as long as nothing is plugged into the xlr on the front - also right 😊👍

    Is there a smaller version with less I/O but the same versatility and usable as a mixer ? Ultralite mk5 looks kinda similar but I am a little bit worried about the dependency on an app. Would be nice if it was controllable over the midi standard.

    What's it for? Good question. I see nothing in the 828, that isn't also in the older 828es. As a matter of fact, it lacks a few important features! The 828 comes with only USB2/USB3, on a USB3 connector. The 828 comes with BOTH USB2 on a USB A connector AND Thunderbolt. Will you ever need USB3 speed? Not unless you run audio channels in the hundreds.
    The 828es comes with a built in talkback microphone, which the 828 lacks all together! No need to waste a valuable Mic input, just for the talkback.
    In my opinion, the 828 is actually a downgrade from the 828es. Who is it for? Noone! Except maybe a couple of TH-cam reviewers, who gets something to rant about (without mentioning the downsides, lacking features, etc.).

    • @micandcampro
      @micandcampro  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel you! I never got around to test the 828es and it seems to be no longer available. Idk why was discontinued and if it also boasted Features like the iPad control function? Although you'll in deed never need USB-3 speed for audio i also think thunderbolt is in no way superior, so I personally don't mind USB-c as well as the lack of the second USB port... The (no longer existing) integrated mic is in deed a downgrade.

    • @svenisaksson3970
      @svenisaksson3970 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@micandcampro Actually MOTU still lists the 828es on their site, with no indication that it's been disconinued. I still maintain that buying a 828es gives you a better interface, than the new 828 interface.
      You'll have to scroll down a bit on the products page. I'm sure that MOTO likes to hide the fact that the old interface is a better deal than new one.
      I've been using the 828es for many years, and if you want it you'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands. 😉Or maybe you could break in and steal it from the rack, when I'm bot around. Perhaps, I should weld it in place. Just to be on the safe side. What do you think?

    • @micandcampro
      @micandcampro  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just used this USB-c cable, because it's red and looks neat on camera. For a live situation you'd be better off using NDI or similar long range solutions. And besides that, especially for a rack mounted - aka stationary - studio device, your cable doesn't have to meet the most durable standards. At least in my opinion...
