I did a 8 821km tour with my Ice Adventure 2 in Australia last year...this is what you need...
    Slumph Drive in the Front...
Rholoff speed Hub at the back..
    A Burley Nomad trailer..
    2 smaller side panniers.
Ortlieb bladder or in Aus you 2 for water...
You mount your camel back behind you on the rack for drinking water...
    And off you go....

That would be great! That sounds like so much fun. Do you have video of your trip I would like to check it out if you do. I have hopes of doing a long trip someday.

You have a LOT of great ideas here on your Expedition! Thanks for sharing with us. It's always fun to see what other trikers are using, and how they set up their recumbents. It looks like you have Schwalbe Marathon PLUS tires on the trike, which would also be beneficial to share with riders who are not aware of their virtually flat-proof status as the best cycling tire for those who don't like fixing flats. I've used the tires for the past 15 years, and have never had a flat tire on one, which includes a lot of miles on cross country adventures.
One thing you may wish to consider is your pedal choice, which may sound odd considering all the positive benefits of clipless pedals, including retaining the rider's feet and preventing a foot slipping off, only to be struck by the trike's cross-frame. I used SPD clipless pedals on my trikes from 2009 to 2022, and swore by them. I overlooked the foot discomfort and pain associated with hotspots (nerve compression syndrome), thinking that clipless pedals are what all the pros and riders "in the know" use, so negative foot issues are just something with which I had to get used to, like it or not.
In the summer of 2022, I took a chance, based on the pedals my friend Matt Galat was using on his world trike tour. These pedals, which I have used since getting them, are platform (not clipless), but with 18 traction pins per pedal per side, my feet have never slipped off, including at stop signs, stop lights, and going over bumps. The BIG surprise with the pedals is the HUGE power advantage over the clipless pedals I used for many years. Using the full foot to deliver power, as these long pedals allow, makes a day and night difference compared to pedaling with just the forefeet, as we do with SPD clipless pedals. Riding up hills and mountains is much easier than with clipless pedals.
The pedals are the same width as any standard platform pedal, but the big difference is in the pedal's length, which allows the full foot, from forefoot to heel, to be utilized on the power stroke. While it may not sound like much, the benefit becomes very clear once riding with them on the trike. These pedals also totally eliminate all foot discomfort and pain that is part and parcel with SPD clipless pedals for anyone who goes on longer rides or trips. Much of the rider's power is lost through forefoot pedaling, but until I actually gave the pedals a try myself, I did not understand this. And I actually do not notice any difference as far as my feet staying on the pedals when compared to clipless ... I've never come off yet.
It's worth the experiment in my opinion to see what you think. They are made by a Colorado company called "Pedaling Innovations", and are called "Catalyst" pedals. They aren't cheap ($149) because they are top-grade design and construction, made originally for downhill mountain bike racers, but more and more recumbent trikers are realizing the many benefits.
Thanks again for your great trike walk-around presentation! Your ideas will help many trikers!

Thanks Steve for all your input. I will take a look into these pedals. My dream is too take the trail from Pittsburgh to DC not needing to change shoes would be great. I'm a truck driver and still work around 50 hours a week. So squeezing it in is a problem with all the rest of life that goes on. But hopefully someday. I appreciate your channel and your videos they have been helpful. Thanks so much! And ride on!

@@OhioBikeRiderYes, not only do I have much more power on hills, and pain free feet, I REALLY enjoy wearing only ONE pair of super comfortable shoes that I can walk and hike in once I get somewhere. I wore SPD clipless shoes (extra and mega wide versions from two companies that offered the size) for many years, and those shoes were about an inch narrower than my normal hiking shoes and street shoes (I showed the difference in one of my videos in 2022).

Excellent setup. I ride a Catrike Villager. I liked seeing your sidebar setup. I've been thinking about different ways to do it as the TT bar is so expensive. Thanks.

I purchased my CaTrike Expedition in late 2022. I went through a 3 level spinal fusion in 2015. I was slowly getting back into road cycling and gravel riding. I thought a Trike would be something to try. I am in the Chicago suburbs...I'd like to find other Trikers in my area...Sometimes in a group would be fun. I saw CaTrike does a video on a rear wheel change but they do it in a controlled environment on a bench. Maybe you can do a video on changing a rear tire on a road? Subscribed

I know where you're coming from with the back surgeries. I've had three of them. And yes they recumbent trike is the way to go. I love mine. Thanks for the suggestion. I think I will do that. You have a great day and ride on!

I actually have a video. It's not posted that I made years ago riding with my son on 100 mi day trip with my back brace still on on a two-wheeled recumbent.

Great timing to see your video tonight! I have a CaTrike Trail and just got a Bryton Gardia 300L radar light and saw that you mounted your Bryton radar model on the end of your rear bike rack. My Gardia came with a mount that is made for a seat post on an upright bike and so the mounting part would put the Gardia in a horizontal orientation instead of the standard vertical orientation. -What did you use to get your radar light on your rack end? Did you find some third-party mounting bracket so your radar would be in the vertical mode?
I liked and appreciate the walk-through of the accessories you're using - I have very similar options on my Trail. Again, much appreciated and hope to hear what you used for mounting your radar on your bike rack.

That's cool that happened. The best I remember there for little screws in that mounting bracket that came that you could take the head apart. So the mounting disc came apart from it then I use small nuts and bolts and hooked it to the rack. I'm on the road right now on my truck driver. I'll try to get a picture and a better memory of it when I get home. Have a great day!.

You should look into the Kampway Pedals, I have them on my Catrike Dumont Trike and love them, can use any shoes you want.
I'm 73 years old and want comfort and the clipless shoes and pedal cost to much. When I first got my Catrike the clipless shoes were $100 and I had to buy 2 sets so I already paid for the Kampway Pedals.

I rode with clipless shoes on a road bike for years and feel very comfortable with them. I have seen what you were talking about. They look nice.
