I too have found it's more about knowing how to do the tire and tube change, it than needing steel tools. It's best to practice a few times in your garage or yard before you need to actually do it in the field. For instance, when I first practiced doing a tire repair, I found that the small tire pump I had been carrying didn't actually work! hah hah The bigger problem I've come across is getting the rear wheel off then back on while in the field. On my Greenspeed Magnum XL, with electric assist in the rear wheel, it does not use a quick release, so I need a large socket or other kind of wrench. Even at home with access to all my tools I found the process of removing then replacing the rear wheel to be impossible without help. That camera mount is brilliant! I use a piece of PVC pipe just the right size to hold the tripod selfie stick, and attach it with a double mount clamp bracket, but I've been unhappy with the amount of wiggle and rattling noise it makes. Using some larger PVC and the foam insert seems like it solves that problem nicely. Thanks for the idea!

Fellow Ohioan here: 70y.o., limited-mobility handicapper here who cannot get off, once already on a trike. Wheelchair, forearm crutches needed for getting on/off. No balance here either! SO: (Relevant to others, handicapped or not): No "tadpole disassembly" for a REAR Flat Tire on my "Hase Lepus" delta planform recumbent trike. No total tire removal from the rim needed either! Going to put Tannus brand, solid, foam-rubber tires onto my Lepus soon. (Flat Free, but rougher, slower riding tires, that are not for everybody.) Unable to get on/off my owned tadpole recumbents for 15 years now. (BTW: 25-inch seat-height option on my Lepus. OH, YEAH!!!) Well over 30-years recumbent experience here. Hoping this information can help others! E-assist and Rohloff gearbox. 2WD and dual suspension DIRECTLY under Rider's torso AND any cargo! Once Rohloff.., never again any cassette! E-assist AND Rohloff do not effect affect any wheel removal, IF, they are on a Delta Planform trike. Not so on any Tadpole! Recumbents ARE expensive! Plan ahead... Never outgrow a Delta Planform recumbent trike. Grow oldest on a Delta Planform recumbent trike. "Do I have what it takes?" No.., but my Lepus does! I don't take the front wheels off. Just tip the trike on it's side and work on it. Saves you working on the ground and you don't need to take the wheel off. ( Just make sure the opposite front wheel is on something soft to protect it from scratches.)😊
Yeah I know you can do it without taking it off I just prefer to do it this way and not take a chances of scratching up my fenders or my wheel knowing me. I would end up having it scratched up before I'm done. I do appreciate the input. Have a great day ride on!

@@OhioBikeRider A little tip when putting the tier back on. Squeeze the tier all round in to the middle of the rim. Starting from the opposite side to the last part, and there's a good chance you will not need the tire leavers.
Yes you can leave it on. For me I feel it's easier to be able to manipulate the whole wheel. Don't feel it's that hard to take off. Also have to take the whole back wheel off anyhow to fix it. So what I made works fine there also. Just prefer to do it that way. You do. You have a great day and ride on!

In case anyone is interested. REI stores do flat tire 1:5 hr hands on class for tire repair for about $25. Also if a flat tire they fix it for free

Try those strips to put in your tires. It will stop a lot of flats. Especially thorns

My setup allows me to leave the wheel on the Catrike Dumont Trike, I was wondering why make your job harder.
