Full tilt out the gate 💪😎, j/k I give em an hour or 2 mid to mid/high volume on music and let em rip after that

I just did my first recones on my subs yesterday and all I'm waiting on is that 24hr mark so I can start breaking them in. Your recone videos were definitely helpful brother 🙏

Yup I blew my L7T after a month. I thought it was broken in, but the tinsel leads came off or something like that. Got a new one and now tryna figure out how not to blow them and break them in. Will be running the 36 to 30 hz test tone to see if it helps my stiff L7.
    Much appreciated Boss Mane

I remember my first powerful amp claimed a few subwoofers all were brand new and blew within a week. That was 20 years ago now my subs usually last until the soft parts are worn out.

If you break em in and loosen them up they stay cool and last a long time

What should subsonic be during break in period if playing regular music in a powered box

  • @thesaltyburban5557

Should you do free air break-in or just throw them in your enclosure and do a break-in I always thought you had to free air them so you could get the spider to fully extend

    • @JerryAintloud
      @JerryAintloud  ปีที่แล้ว +2

free air is faster, but you can do in vehicle just not go full tilt

I just build a breather box no tuning just a large port to break em in.

I got a taramps 8k I didn’t know that the high pass filter is a subsonic filter should I set it to 10hz? Stupid question probably but I like the lows

I don't know if you really have to break them in or not. Probably like you said some do some don't. For me it's like this. What's it gonna hurt to do it? If I break them in and they don't need it then it won't hurt a thing but if I don't break them in and they do need it then that is gonna hurt pretty bad. If I wait a couple of days before I get on it and it saves them from messing up, then it's worth it. It was different when I wasn't paying $500-$1,000 for subs.

Do you have to use CA glue when reconing a sub, could I use loctite epoxy on the spider and e6000 on the surround?

    • @JerryAintloud

I use CA glue usually but lately I've Been using 5 min epoxy on spiders(make sure to scuff spider landing a bit) and BLACK E6000 on surround and dustcap - works lovely

Better of without the boot covers.
All that’s doing is keeping the ferrites hot. Keeping them off will be better cooling..

What is there to actually break in.lmao oh a piece of cloth.it breaks in from the time its new till the coil unwhinds.
The reason they say break it in is bc they dont want ya to smell it first 48 hrs of playtime and think its messed up.😂😂car audio shops are tricksters, remember that..

Not necessary, just blast it. In fact, don't even need to take it out the box, just make two incision holes in the cardboard and connect your 99 gauge wire.
