you can watch videos where guys are using 125 laptops to sell dungeons raids. you can join any large guilds and see 60 accounts logging in at the same time. play bg your team has at least 4 afk bots.
I joined the expansion late, I just hit 80 the other day and have cleared lfr once. Excited to join normal raid
M+ numbers are probably way higher in reality too. We log raids in my guild, but almost none of us log our key runs
The way they are counting players (character logging into game) needs to take into account that this expansion rewards logging in your alts every day to run delves. This can artificially inflate the player estimates.

And don’t you have to have Warcraft Logs installed to count in those numbers? What about people who don’t have WCL?
I played TWW for all of like 3 days before I uninstalled.
I’ve just started playing retail and no i dont raid only Delves and i love it. I still raid in Cata and quit playing SoD and I’m asking myself… with so many playing retail im sure the SoD player base pales in comparison….so how much are they really going to invest into that future….and if they do for what player base
Players go back and forth a lot based on where the new content is. I agree if they want players to go back to SOD they will need to do something creative. I don’t think the usual stuff is going to work anymore with how good TWW is right now
People keep saying the WW is good... so that word of mouth brings people in. That's the vibe the community is selling, and perhaps sincerely so. However, I think it is likely that you will see a significant population falloff soon, depending upon who the story/game unfolds in the coming month or two. There is a significant honeymoon phase happening, and that comes from a few places. First, of course, is that excitement that happens at the beginning of every new expansion. Another is WoW's 20th anniversary. Finally, I would argue that compared to Shadowlands and Dragon Flight, the mediocre story telling of the WW seems good, but that is only relatively speaking. Retail WoW is still missing the mark when it comes to some of those hallmark traits that made WoW so popular to begin with... there is no real edge or conflict outside of the new bigbad, all the characters are either very apologetic and/or affirming, and it is a lot more of the same soft, cooperative, almost therapeutic feeling found in Dragon Flight that will not hold the majority of people's attention IMO. Classic, and its iterations, may still go strong though, even increase in population (depending on how Blizz handles it).
Once again, how many copies did TWW sell? They shouted from the rooftops about D4 sells and shadowlands sells but not a word about TWW or even DF sells numbers.
The reason so many people are coming back is because FPS is so loaded with hackers there's nothing left to play.

What do you mean wow is more popular ? There were more people pvping in SL and BFA than now. Obviously the game is dead and buried when not even r1s can get 2.4k a month into the season. Blitz is the only pvp mode with people in it now. And it has no skill involved.
No one cares about PVP
What reason is there to do PVP now aside from purely enjoying PVP? It doesn't even have a vault track. It's a different time. PVP queue times are not an accurate metric for player engagement.
Sure it's good but not good enough. Still have the most fail RNG when referring to loot. In TWW, RNG = Really Not Good. When you do 10 M+ and get no loot and then you do another 10 and get 4 pieces and 3 of them are the same and all 4 are not the BIS that's in the loot table. Well, that's 10 hours gone down the toilet. When you fill up the great vault and twice in a row you get absolute rubbish useless junk to choose from and when you do raid and nobody gets any tier items at all in either LFR, Normal or Heroic. What the @!%!%@ is up Blizz? You trying to scam us through the loot system? Trying to time gate us and think we are really that stupid to fall for it? People saying it's bad luck are living a lie. It's not bad luck but rather bad programming. Time to fix it or this will lead to your downfall.

@@99Pierogies There is so much still wrong with this game. Just today echos for delves in a group where you use 5 to enter a worldsoul raid and you only get 35 shards instead of the 250 in a bonus week because it's glitched is yet another fail by blizz pumping out quantity over quality. NOT to mention the 5 day wait for a reply by their AI bot system. This company is asking too much money for the rubbish they peddle.

Best place? Not by far... I feel it's the same expansion as before with delving.
