It kinda upsets me they didn't cause I'm an absolute idiot and had no idea what was happening the first time I played. Had no guesses or anything, I was just confused lmao
It's probably the show-not-tell factor. Having Sunny's thoughts during the accident spoonfed to the player is way less impactful than just showing the event unfold. Moreover, the photos appeared in a scrambled, non-chronological order which made piecing together the events much more engaging. It piques the player's interest!
Sunny was having trouble playing the violin, so one time he raged and threw it to the floor, across the staircase. Mari became angry at Sunny for it, increasing Sunny's amount of stress and anger. Out of rage, Sunny pushed Mari down the stairs. Sunny at first thought that it was a dream, that everything is alright. Basil had the idea to make it seem like a suicide, to make a lie.
@@pandosham and also, the police should able to know the dead is caused by blunt on the head or something from the autopsy. Thats also maybe his dad never talk to him because they do know the truth. But there isnt proof of this

Not insane. He mentally shut down, didn't want to process the full brunt of the horror of what he had done; the idea he killed her was already too much to handle. So there was a few hours he was in shock, on autopilot. It isn't until he looks back at her hanging body that the full impact of what they had just done truly registers. Basil made a traumatic experience even more scarring than it already was.
Definitely a good decision to cut the dialogue from the truth photos. The ‘show don’t tell’ aspect of that whole scene was part of what made it so impactful.
Since OMORI is intended to horror in it, with SUNNY facing his greatest horror, the Truth (he and Basil covered up a murder Sunny did) and the Lie (Headspace and Omori being Sunny's comfort main character) he made himself, in the shape of Omori himself, I wondered how fear-based characters would fit into the game. It seems that it was attempted but Omocat discarded it. Fear enemies would only happen within Sunny's dreams (so as Omori). Maybe they can appear in Black Space, as random encounters not triggered by touching an enemy but just at a random time. They would become more common as days go by in the game.
16:03 fun fact : dogs and crows are some of the first enemies you can encounter when playing Earthbound, if the Stray Dog and Crow had gone used, I have it in firm belief they would’ve been intended as an Earthbound reference considering that Omori is somewhat inspired by it
perhaps the spider cat was removed because it was supposed to remain little-known and more "secret"... Although, what I'm saying, Something can act as an opponent even in places where it doesn't make much sense (how Something is connected with Abbi, I just can't understand)
Could be, though you could literally find spider cats everywhere in Pyrefly Forest so it just doesn’t seem right. Maybe it was removed because the Spider Cats were just mainly used for warping players back to the beginning?
I think that you would fight a spider cat as a boss after completing the encounter with daddy longlegs and you would be blocked from exiting his fire room thing and a spider mewo would battle you
I love that you can understand why Sunny came up with Omori’s design thanks to disco space - it’s a warped, colorless version of himself, toiling away at the piano. His inner self is visually defined by the rigorous practice he couldn’t stand in real life and accidentally killed Mari over. Now that’s a cope
Saddest thing for me is that according to those, Sunny thought about getting help, but immediately was terrified at the idea of explaining what happened, telling the truth; and it stopped him from saving her, perhaps she could've came back to life with quick and proper medical practices; In my opinion, she could've even still been alive after she fell, even if we consider the hospital scene, because it could've been once her body was discovered hanging, therefore wouldn't hint at her immediate death. But in the good ending, he ends up doing so anyway, when there isn't any chance to save her anymore. It took him 4 years; and now doing it can't save her anymore. It's just... So, incredibly sad.

It's great that they kept the album descriptions out of the final product but I wouldn't have known it was Basil's idea to hang Mari or that Basil was the one who did most of the work forging her suicide without this context. Maybe I'm just bad at interpreting things lol. Great game, can't believe it took me so long to get to it. Thanks for making this video, it's really cool to see what was left out.
*treehouse, south coast, deep trench and basil’s meadow look unfinished (the floors, being able to walk out of bounds in deep trench, and being able to walk to the window) or were just very early in development and could’ve been scrapped or was never finished* *omori spinning into the sky is amazing though love it* *baby spider might’ve been used for something in the walls, dog and crow possibly could’ve been used for faraway.* *spider cat might’ve been used for if the spider cats were able to actually attack you instead of sending you back.*
There are sufficient evidence that she did. Like how she literally fell on top of the violin or how she didn’t struggle when being hanged. However, there are evidence supporting that she didn’t, either. Like how her eyelids were opened (which could be explained by the loss of the eyelids’ muscle strength after death) or how there weren’t any visible bruises on her body. Honestly, I believe she died falling off the stairs but the game never explicitly stated anything so, I guess it’s all up to interpretation.
@@noux I don't know what would be more tragic: that Mari was still alive after falling down the stairs or that Sunny would have done all the suicide endings instead of Omori

Heres why i prefer the truth album with no explanations! For starters, when trauma is repressed it is like a guessing game sometimes, or when your trying to learn about your trauma sometimes it feels like how it was shown in the game. Same with learning some memories were false, it feels like coming into a new world and its very hard. The next reason is because it actually makes people without trauma see it from sunnys point of view. They should be asking “Did we really do that?” When theyre looking through the photo album, thats why we have the option to name sunny to our name in the first place. And thats it. Thats why i like it
This makes me more sad than scared…. Time to daydream, and have it so that after sunny moves, his friends all visit him often and Mari is a visible ghost that talks to them. I am on way too much Copium :)))
And what if Mari was only unconscious, but still alive? What if she only died when Basil and Sunny hung her on the tree? If they had taken her to a hospital, perhaps she could have survived...
its implied she was not breathing by the "this person is not breathing" thing, and if thats true, (because im pretty sure sunny and basil were freaking out for quite a while before the hanging happened) there wouldve been no point in calling an ambulance. they wouldve known it was hopeless.
Ikr, it paints the picture a whole lot more clearly, I think it was changed to make it so that you basically have to "get it" yourself from just the pictures, which I did, but there were still some details that I didn't understand, the dialog clears that up, by recounting _exactly_ what happened.
