When you have IIT tag in your LinkedIn profile, it is lot easier to get the inbound links. If you are graduated from a tier 3 college, no one gives a dime even you optimize it to the core. Sometime I think the whole IT industry is bluff. Better to find a passion and build a business around it.

A lot of things become easier with tier 1, but the basics don’t change - like in this case optimized profile, finding connections etc.

Basics is fine but nobody wants to connect to unworthy and it takes time and effort to create worth .you are worthy and deservedly lucky to have IIT background.Half of the job is already done.

Honestly, I am with you on that. Not just in the IT field, based on my experience in the corporate world, hiring departments are shallow. They will judge you by the name of your college. If you are from an average college, they wont even entertain you. Its much more rewarding to start your own business and make it grow. There are risks and challenges no doubt, but at least you are not at the mercy of some employer.

They will definitely reach you by giving you a lead because you are someone who did your grad at IIT/ISB!! But yes alignment of skills and certifications play a key role for anyone to give you that lead.

Don't get me wrong but with an IIT, ISB and 10+ years of experience in corporate, you'd get leads even if LinkedIn didn't exist. People say LinkedIn is where you find maximum leads be it jobs or freelancing but in reality, it isn't that easy. I've tried many things on the platform but LinkedIn hasnt been kind to me because 1) - I dont have any degrees from top tier colleges and 2) I've switched my career

Being a girl is very easy to get connections very easy and job offers From LinkedIn . Secondly high degrees from national institutes also increases chances of getting jobs . Second thing is high experience of 3-4 years.
A fresher boy from tier 3 college without experience with good skills will not be shortlisted. Even 8 months experience in full stack Developement also suffering from same problem.

Linkedin Premium might help you identify if you are the top applicant for that job & salary insights. In my experience, if you are the top applicant, there's a far more chance of recruiter at least giving your profile/resume a view, sometimes download also. And yeah, ATS sucks, It took me 2 hours to ATS tune a resume for a single job description & that too to 55-60 ATS score, who has time to do that for even 10 jobs.

Sorry I have not gone thru this whole video, and not sure why youtube recommended this video to me but anyways here is my 2".
I see some people commenting here that "no one wants to connect to unworthy", and at first sight this might be true. But the best way to tackle this is make yourself worthy. And you can do that by consistently commenting with value on various posts, posting threads which other users find it useful, learn from the other people posts and acknowledge , increase your certification value etc. Then the people who read your posts will send their connection request themselves, regardless where you currently are and which tier you got yourself educated etc. And once a worthy guy is connected to you, other connections of his will also accept your invitations etc. and its is a cycle, a good positive cycle and so you will increase your value.
    Hope this helps.

Question is how can you have 1 generic CV in your linkedIn? When ATS is a big headache these days. Once your generic CV is available on spaces like LinkedIn your chances of applying to different JD’s 1-1 becomes complicated having said this. This is useful video without a doubt. Thanks.
