- One of the first ingame tracks that feature in the arcade shooter Jurassic Park 2: The Chaos Continues on the SNES. The music was written using our own in-house editor and uses six channels of audio, the remaining two used for the ingame sound effects, the game was developed and released by Ocean Software.

Just to clarify, I wrote this and the other tunes in Jurassic Park 2. Jonathan programmed the music driver and as such was credited on a lot of Ocean games, for example - The Flintstones, Waterworld, etc., however he wasn't involved in the music composition for those games.
Jonathan did however write lots of wonderful SNES pieces though, including Jurassic Park (1), The Addams Family (1 and 2), Robocop, The Shadow etc.
Addams Family Values and Jurassic Park has some of the most memorable game music ever, loved those. The Chaos Continues has one of the best OSTs on the system
The SNES had a great sound chip and it was really fun to work with. After designing MEDIT (our in house music editor) we were finding little tricks and details about it all the time that weren't in the original documentation. For it's sample, memory and channel limitations, it was possible to get a fair bit out of it.
Sorry for the 6 year late reply but you wouldn't happen to have a copy of this in .MOD format would you?
I played this game as a child. It was hard as hell, but I always remembered the music. When used video game stores became common, I immediately located this game and bought it, finally beating the bastard that ruined my childhood. But even today as an adult I still admire the bgms. They were so memorable, especially this one. It characterizes the slaughter of the gallimimus, an innocent herd animal you had to protect by going mano-y-mano with the Biosyn mercenaries. The music was heroic, urgent, and violent. Perfect for the level.
After playing this game i remember that Music became a really important part for my gaming, hey thanks, really memorable times, I still have this game, hard to beat but really fun.
Since I first played the game as a kid, this has always been one of my favorite pieces of score for any game. It was the only time I played a video game and was actually distracted by how good the music was, since normally a game soundtrack is filler. I remember this track in particular was my favorite. I even started the game and recorded it on a cassette tape using a recorder/boombox!
You made the first ost of games
I played this game more than I should have, and this theme speaks to me. I have so many memories of my friends and I racing though the Gallimimus level I don't even know what to say other than this theme is amazing.
"But I must kill the dinosaurs!"
"No, Kristofer you are the dinosaurs"
but then Kristofer was a scalie
end
@@Diamond_Tiara It's a beautiful story
Awesome that the composer himself uploaded this stuff. Always loved this track and level, even if I could never beat the damn game. I can just hear that bloody helicopter.
This is, by far, my favourite track of the whole game. I'll pop my cart in and play, just to hear it, even after all this time. I've long wanted to thank the talented people involved in this game - and you, most of all, sir. The music is absolutely fantastic.
I'm in the infantry and a corporal and this music is a good workout tune. Reminds me of having to run and gun... just like this stage.
Jogo que fez parte da minha infância, simplesmente épico, a trilha sonora ficou incrível, pois lembrava muito o filme, com um tom meio selvagem
I've always loved this track. So rad.
Thank you dean for uploading this eargasm I had everytime I played this level
I should enjoy this song, but it makes me want to smash my computer *BECAUSE OF THAT FUCKING HELICOPTER!*
Way ahead of its time! This gorgeous soundtrack should be remastered and included in a new Jurassic Park title. Great vibes from the 90s.
Dean, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for giving my childhood the sounds that would later inspire my own music productions 20 years later.
Perfect theme for an invasion or an attack!
I always that heard this song, my head scenes of Colombia
One of the best uses out of it I think was this game, and The great adventures of Indiana Jones! The sound on that in stereo is so crisp. Even to this day it sounds great!
agreed, but i haven't heard it in almost 2 decades. actually this song is the reason i started searching this cool old game on youtube. It has a bit of a led zepplin kashmir flavor to it. love it!
Yeah wow, Dean Evans is the uploader? Sir, this soundtrack spans a particularly sleek, alarming & enigmatic section of the human emotional gamut. It's formidable yet simultaneously motivating. One of my total faves. I owe you.
I get distant Super Castlevania IV vibes.
Loved this game
Sorry for the late response, but thank you for taking the time to respond to it! You and John knew a lot about that processor, and did some crazy awesome tunes with it. Your music still holds up today, and that says a lot :D
Wow, a response from the composer, that was unexpected! Thanks for the insightful answer! I'm looking into reading and learning documentation for that chip myself.
Sensacional essa música e o jogo também.
This reminds me of Blackthorne - Cut Scenes music...
I doubt there will be any updated version of JP2, and if there was to be it wouldn't be by the original team as everyone has long since moved on.
Glad you enjoyed the game though.
Mr. Evans I wish you could work on the Frontier Games, newest entry into the JW franchise which is Jurassic World:Evolution 2 you'd make them a killer soundtrack.
Best Game/Theme in Existence...
Man...The only thing i can say about this amazing track is this actually can make you on your toes(Even with some unfair and ridicolous enemy placement. But it's the only main mission that is Full Linear)
I always killed the old man enjecting the gallimimus😂
*confirms composer name with channel info* lol, that's funny! When I saw "in-house editor", I was thinking of the person, not the software. So Jonathan Dunn wrote the other tunes? I wonder, are you and him still in touch?
Also, I can finally say to the original author of this tune that not only is this one of my most favorite tunes from the game, but I believe this tune had foreshadowed the main theme for The Lost World: Jurassic Park 2. Need more music like this in future games 'n' films!
hard level
The helicopter with the cage at the end raped me many times.... oh hell...
Yes, is hard to evade but requires a good strategy
Mr composer, have you ever thought of regrouping the team that made this wonderful game to make an updated version of it. Especially with the technology we have right now, if your team is able to make on of the best snes games at it's time, think of what you can achieve!
This sounds a lot like early Hans Zimmer.
I hope so, I'm wearing his underwear :)
To hell with those stupid little things! They bit at my ankles...
So acording to the video info, you know Dean Evans personally?
My question is, was the SPC700/ Nintendo S-SMP really that powerful?
frankly it was the equivalent of a soundblaster/ESS. 16-Bit DAC with an excellent MIDI processor. (okay it's not MIDI standard, just a good synth) from that you can use samples and all you want.
