Great shave Mark!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the Captain's Choice Bay Rum offerings!!! Personally I think it's amazing, and at it's price point it can't be beat for it's scent and protection. I just ordered some more since I just used the last of mine a few days ago. I'd try out Venture and Nor'easter as well!!!

teakey, thanks.:) since making this video I've used several others. Atomic Age Bay Rum from PAA is wonderful. Aosp Dudes makes a very good Bay Rum. I've tried a smple of triling's Bay rum whichiliked. Ialo just got the Cocnut Bay with Lime form PAA. Now that's a wonderful scent that has really grown on me.
Mix aftershave with the unscented balm? Mind: Blown. Was just pondering balm vs/aftershave recently as I love aftershave and am leery of balms (worried about breakouts) but now that my technique has improved a little and I'm doing 3rd passes more often my skin wants more protection. I just bought this shave soap. Haven't shaved with it yet but holy cow I do find the scent overpowering when I open the tub. We'll see. Part of it was that I wasn't expecting the strong herbal note. I thought the "Bay" part of bay rum signified bay as in "Arrr- I'm a pirate and you can find me drinking rum at the bay." I was expecting more of a saltwater vibe so it was like drinking from a glass you think is filled with water and getting orange juice. The bay leaf on the cover should've been a giveaway, in retrospect. At any rate, curious to see how it will play out in the actual shave now that I know what to expect.
Hi, Rich P.. The shave soap is super slick. I was really surprised. do not get it in your eyes, though. I had ahead shave with it once and need to be more careful of it geting int my eyes. Not bad, just bothersome than most other soaps. And now, I need to pull it out and have another shave with it.::) So glad to hea the shaves are coming along.:) Regarding after shave splashes and balms. Most balms are alcohol free, so this is benefical to some wet shavers as it won't dry out the skin. Other blams do have a small bit of alcohol in them to help with antiseptic side of things. I personally, like these. I use both. I understand concerns about breakouts. Nothing definitive can be stated in this area. Everyone is different and one just has to tread carefully and sample and try various products to determine what works best. HTH.:)
@@MarkSzorady Update on this product. I have grown to really like the soap. I may be trying some other bay rum soaps in the future to compare, though. It's such a popular scent that it might be nice to see how others interpret it. Particularly PAA, since Smythe goes on and on about bay rum so much :). I bought the aftershave sampler and just did the soap + aftershave experience. LOVE the aftershave. Holy smokes, it smells good. Feels good on the skin, too. I like all the scents and I have a feeling I'm gonna make a big investment. The scents are just too good and the captain/pirate theme is super-compelling, obvs.

Cat-o’-nine-tails is a good bat rum sent from Captains choice
I saw that one too.:) It's on my list. However, I wanted to go with their basic offering first. And, it's a wonderful introduction.:)
The best bay rum product, imho (really love capt choice too).
