  • After Autocad changed it's terms of service and invalidated my permanent, standalone license for Autocad Product Design Suite Unlimited, I was forced to either sign up for a new subscription, or find a new software to meet my cad needs. well, I'm happy to say that I have finally found a replacement software! check it out!
    progecad.us/pr...
there is no affiliation between progecad and myself, I spent my own real live money on a permanent standalone license.

As far as Photoshop goes, a good replacement for it is Affinity Photo. I think functionally it works about as well, except for maybe the content aware fill, which Photoshop seems to be better at overall. Although I think Affinity Photo seems to just run smoother, and faster, and doesn't crash nearly as often.
I wish they made a replacement for Lightroom, though.

@@Knowbody42Try Darktable. It's opensource and I find it even more powerful than Lightroom. Though it can be a bit much with all the modules. You can find a few that are similar to whats offered in Lightroom. Start with them and expand when you get more familiar.

Will it eventually move to subscription based when they have enough people using it. I like the look of it and I'm tempted but I'm suspicious. Having said that it look fantastic valu for money. Alibre don't have a subsciption model.
They do charge a maintenance fee however you dont have to pay it, you just don't get any updates if your maintenance is not paid up.
They also offer amnestys on maintenance every couple of years in that you just pay for the next years maintence to get the updates for the next 12 months but you don't have to pay any arrears.

Proprietary software again ? Aren't you worried they'll just follow the same pattern as every other proprietary software vendor ? In the honeymoon phase for now, and when you're actually dependant on them, they'll monetize the relationship
