Awesome my baby (he's now 35) was like 35 weeks breach and Dr had to turn him (wasn't nice) lucky he dropped not long after and stayed put and gave birth normally! Yes the NZ maternity system is amazing!.
it sounds like her head is chilling out near your heart. my daughter was also like this up until a week before birth , and after some acupuncture and strange postures that i was shown to do, everything was perfect for the birth. stay unconcerned but observant, stay with your breathing practices and know that everything is perfect and flowing. 🌸🌸🌸
Hi Carrie! I had a similar experience at the hospital you are going to give birth at (I live in the same area). At around 32 weeks I had horrible pelvic pains and our midwife said to go to hospital to get checked. we were so nervous driving there but honestly the experience at the hospital was so positive. Seeing the space, the birthing rooms and the amazing staff made me feel so much better. They’re an amazing maternity ward so you’re in great hands 💜
My son was footling breach and they tried to turn him but couldn’t so had a c-section and I’m really glad I did. It was a great experience and actually saved me and baby. I found out after I have a heart shape uterus and I never would have been able to have him naturally. I just found rolling with it and not planning to much actually made me more chill and enjoy the process.
I recommend getting a tri-pillow if you don't already have one. Not only did I find it helped with my sleep late third trimester, it was amazing for helping support bub while feeding. Later it was really helpful if I needed to give bub extra support sitting up, etc.
I just had my baby ten days ago! By 37 weeks we did an ultrasound to see position and she was great. Went into labour and she turned so she was posterior, so felt it only in my back. My midwives were relaxed and baby ended up flipping face down during my labour/contractions. So she was born vaginally the “right” way after all. My advice is prepare to be flexible because at the end of the day, baby’s gonna do what baby’s gonna do. We also did the spinning baby techniques before as well.
So excited for you! All 3 of my babies at some point were either breech or somewhat breech and they all jiggled and wiggled their way back without any intervention. I’m hopeful the same will happen for you. Sending love love to you, Alex, and your precious baby girl 💗🫶🏻
So glad you had a positive experience! It sounds like a lovely environment. The maternity system sounds a lot like ours in Canada. I had my second baby in November & we have used midwives for both of our kiddos. We are still under their care & I wish they could be our primary caregivers forever, they’re so wonderful! Also yeah diaper cream is AMAZING! So gentle but effective. Sending you so much love - the best is yet to come ❤️🥰
My baby was breach until about 36 or 37 weeks and then he finally turned head down and stayed that way until I had him at 41 weeks. I still ended up having an urgent C-section but because he was not doing good during labor. I hope everything goes great for you and your little girl! 😊
Both my littles were breech the whole way through my daughter turned at like 37 weeks and my son turned at around 38 weeks. Praying baby girl turns and you both have a smooth birthing process!
19:25 Hi Carrie! I’ve been watching you for many years now and I just wanted to share that when I had my baby in 2022, weeks saw that he was in breech position since our 20 week ultrasound. The tech said she wasn’t concerned, so I wasn’t until my 36 week appointment where they found out he was still breeched. I had a planned c section and I couldn’t have imagined my birth experience to be more calm. In the end all that matters is the health of you and your baby and it all flies by too quickly so just enjoy every moment. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly!! ❤
Hi carrie ! I had a very similar experience as you with my first pregnancy, going to the hospital to check if baby was ok because i couldnt feel him moving. I remember thinking like you that it has been a gift to meet the nurses and see where i would be in a few weeks. * Also for your shower, i has mine during covid and we did a virtual shower. My mom scheduled an afternoon of meetings with our close ones and we would change persons every 15 mins or so. We had ordered special food for us that day and it was a great way to thank people for the gifts. Some people even did videos for us. Maybe you could do something like that! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy ❤
Everyone loves to curse pregnant moms by saying you’re going to be miserable by the end but I promise it’s totally possible to feel okay! My second pregnancy I was in much better health and took better care of my core and body and I felt great! Even though I gave birth at almost 42 weeks 😅 So there’s a testimony! You do not have to be miserable at the end! You’re doing great and are absolutely radiant Carrie!
Oh, don’t worry at all about her being breached right now. It’s still super early! She’s going to move all over the place! I am a NICU Nurse (prematurely born babies)- and my specialty is Maternity overall. My experience that babies tend to keep their head down a few weeks before birth, and stay there- rather than move around as they do at this age. Sometimes they will flip to the correct position even days before the birth. But right now it’s still early, and they can and will move around. Since you were sick, she was probably curious about hearing different sounds than she’s used to if you had a respiratory illness (coughing, congestion, ext.), or maybe she just wanted to be as close to your voice as possible to comfort you, or to feel comfortable? ❤ They also love the sound of their mama’s heartbeat, and we used to use that in the NICU as one way of keeping them happy (chest-chest snuggles with Mommy and Daddy, sound machine set to the sound of a heartbeat, etc.) . Babies are really curious, and I’m sure she knew something was different, so she went to go check it out. 😊.. Also, your midwife might’ve told you, but my experience with midwifes is they are really good at helping the baby to turn back to the correct position if need be, by moving her with their hands over your tummy when you’re close to your due date if she hasn’t flipped, and they feel like they need to intervene!… But honestly, my friend, you’re still so early, I wouldn’t even worry about it for one second! This is totally normal for this age! Everything‘s going to go good. She has a great Mommy and Daddy, great healthcare, and you guys are doing all the right things- so just keep reminding yourself that it will go according to God‘s plan, and everything will work out for the good. ❤ You seem like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be (in both your pregnancy, and where you live), and are truly connected to God‘s divine plan. I can see that through how beautifully your life story has meandered- and the words that come out of your mouth, which are tied so closely to heart. Don’t worry my friend. It’s all going according to Gods beautiful and divine plan. ❤ It’s been lovely to watch you and your husband‘s journey over the years (I actually started watching your channel around the time you and Alex first met), and I see God‘s magic all over both of your journeys.
A few things I would recommend for a mum to be : woolbabe sleeping bags are great I can’t live without them. An in ear/forehead thermometer, so much easier to use than the under arm ones. hydrogel breast pads - breastfeeding is a painful business at first. A haaka breast pump to collect leakage( because leakage from other breast is crazy when you first start bf😂) and adult diapers for the first few days postpartum because the surfboard size pads you have a wear are uncomfortable.
Hi Carrie , I just had my baby on November 29th. He was not breeched but still ended up with a c section after pushing for almost 10 hours. So keep your mind open. I started having my contraction on his due date but he showed up the next morning around 10 am!! I had my mom and husband with me throughout so make sure your team won’t leave you at birth!! My doctor’s shift ended at 7 am so I had to get a new doctor for the c-section which is crazy!! Anyways maybe that’s only in the USA! But check just in case
The nose Frida is way better than the nose sucker (it's unable to be opened and creates mold inside of it). We used the nappy cream after each change, and completely avoided diaper rash. If you can find gripe water (all natural), those are amazing (just don't get gas drops, as their belly will hurt more).
Yay for the health care kit! My mum buys it for all my friends when they have babies. It's like her standard gift now! so useful. Apparently bamboo breast pads are also amazing
Oh yes definitely try not to worry too much about her position now, my bubba was in the 'right' position the whole way through right until the very last minute when she turned and was born posterior (was still able to push her naturally though)
Oh also my heart burn was next level during my 3rd trimester! I found out way too late that you can actually get pregnancy safe medication prescribed by your doctor if it gets really bad. Just letting you know in case you didnt because i didnt and it was a god send!
Spinning babies and the miles circuit are great! But also, if baby is beach still, I’d be curious why a NZ midwife says about still birthing vaginally. I’ve seen some beautiful breach homebirths! Our bedside bassinet turned into a place to hold baby essentials after two nights, and we ended up co-sleeping following Safe Sleep Seven, but I’m still so happy we have it.
🩵🩷🤍 Getting a Baby on Board sign is so, so positive because not only are they cute but the sign also alerts emergency personnel in the case of an accident, a baby on board sign informs EMS, fire or police about the presence a child in the vehicle.🩷🩵🤍
Honestly with buying the 'stuff' its just a gamble either way, there are some things we got that we never/barely used, and others that we were so grateful to discover we already had sitting in the house, you'll just never know coz every bubba is different, so you just get whatever feels right for you guys 🙂
Im glad everything went well with your baby checkup.. I've heard this what kind of situation before I was even more interesting is that if it does happen around the time your due to give birth the doctor or the Midwife will actually do a massage and move the baby to the correct position and generally most times the baby does turn to the position that they're supposed to be in which is head down on their own cuz I know this lady who lives about 20 minutes away from me has her own Channel with her husband and I saw that happen to her the day before she was ready to give birth the baby moved head down because those massages actually work .. please don't worry about that.. you look so beautiful and I hope you feel better with your cold..❤❤❤
My son was never breech. He was head down when he dropped, but I am a small petite size (5'4" tall with small bones) and my husband is a tall man with big bones and a height of 6 feet+. My pelvis was too small for my son to squeeze through so after 24 hours of labour, I had no choice but to have a C-section!! His birth weight was 7 lbs, 13 oz (almost 8 pounds) and 22 inches long!! My son is doing fine. He is now 21 years old and 6 feet tall. Girls do tend to be smaller than boys, so hopefully your baby girl will squeeze through your pelvis with no problems.
I may have watched one too many birthing vlogs before giving birth and scared myself way too much...went into labour and had a very easy birthing. So i would say just know that everyone's body is different and comes with different experiences... Be openminded and positive. ❤❤
My midwife said 33 weeks is usually when baby has a little less room to move around and they would ideally be head down but there is still plenty of time for them to move back if they are breech. Also breeched babies can be delivered vaginally, there are people teaching courses to midwives about how to confidently deliver them. For some reason the medical system is afraid of it.
I'm currently pregnant with baby 4 and I have noticed with all of my babies that Baby will have 1-2 really active days and then the 2nd or 3rd day they are pretty silent and relaxed. This has been the case for all of my littles. Thats not to say kick counts arent absolutely important but I just have observed this.
Carrie, please note that people given birth SAFELY every day vaginally with the baby in breech position. It is not necessary to have a cesarian. At all. I just hate when people are misinformed especially when their goal is a vaginal birth. My favorite position during my pregnancies to get the babies in the optimal position was the forward leaning inversion, and I'd do this leaning from the couch to the floor. I did this every day for the last few months to ensure they stayed in the right spot. Best of luck ♥️
I used to have big Lycra and cotton bands in various colours to keep my bump warm and covered if I wanted to wear one of my pre bump tops. Like a boob tube but for the bump - a bump tube?
Two things to let you know. Firstly, you still can give birth vaginally with a breach baby, I think some medical staff are not as confident with breach, I was a breach baby, my mother had me left foot first right foot last. My third child was in the same position as you are speaking of, and I think she moved acrossways along my belly for a time. They also spoke of a c section, or manipulating her into position, which made me extremely nervous. I literally would lay down and talk to her in my belly, and ask her to move into the right spot. Strangely enough...she did :) ... hoping your little one moves into place for you.
Having an adult bed in your nursery could come in very handy, even if just a twin bed. Then when Baby Girl has a fussy night, you or Alex can rest and be near her to sort her out while the other of you gets sleep. Sleep becomes a very hot commodity during that first year and sometimes you’ve got to play tag-team to help each other get sleep. I breast fed twins and I can’t say enough about having high quality electric breast pump. It enables Dad to bond and feed baby too, and gives Mum a break here and there. It’s also good for Baby to learn to feed with the bottle as well as the breast. This will give both you and Baby more flexibility as she grows.
English is a strange language, to me crib means bassinet ...probably because of "away in a manger, no crib for a bed". Praying for a great 3rd trimester. Hooe you have a paddling pool or spa to cool off 8n in the coming heat. My first was born early march 1982, and i really felt the heat that summer
Hi Carrie! a midwife here :) you can absolutely discuss with your midwife having a breech vaginal birth! not sure if that is something you discussed with her as you mentioned in the video you 'would need to have a c-section'. All the best! I am sure the spinning babies positions help to turn baby around! Also, as your midwife said, baby is still small and has so much space to move! I am never concerned about a baby being breech at your gestation! :)
You are looking gorgeous. You and Alex should buy / get whatever you feel you need that’s the fun of being first time parents is navigating your own journey. In my experience those plastic boogie suckers do nothing sadly and it is definitely worth investing in an electronic one. Same with the thermometer those little ones take so long to register a temp and so hard to keep still on a moving sick bub. An electronic forehead one is the way to go. They have them on sale at Aldi all the time. And total side note but I have the most amazing necklace which is one of my prized possessions from a company called Demarc they have the babies fingerprint etched in one side and their first letter of their name on the other. I have a very similar style to you so think this is something you would love to get yourself when baby girl is born. I’m a few weeks ahead of you with my second baby girl so kind of feels like we are on this journey together even though you don’t know me lol.
My first baby was breech at 37 weeks likleyhood she was not gonna turn around. I had Such a positive elective c section at Tauranga Hospital NZ. They have such good care here in NZ😊 ALL the best and wishing you a beautiful birth experience whether vaginal or breech ❤ i did the spinning baby exercises too and nothing helped but don’t be too hard on yourself its just what the baby wants. Must be comfortable 😂
Do you find in the USA that many are fearful of the systems like Canada, NZ, Australia, UK? I always thought it would be horrible if you are on a low income and need to visit a hospital in the USA, how many actually end up in seriously health emergencies because of the fear of having to pay....it must mean a lot to not have that stress to worry about the costs :)
My baby was in a funky position early in my 3rd trimester but he was SO active in my belly and ended up being in a perfect position by the last few weeks and I was very lucky to have a successful unmedicated vaginal birth like I wanted ❤️ I'm sure baby girl will wiggle her way down into position and you will have a beautiful healthy birthing experience ❤️ Side note...I'm sure you will get tons of advice for post-partum prep...but 2 things that I wanted to share: 1. Earth Mama nipple butter - it is magical!!!! This stuff helped my nips SO so much more than anything else after baby arrived and breastfeeding began. And it smells great and is made with great ingredients. And 2...this one is TMI...but do not neglect the stool softener/bum care post-baby! If you know you know...its real! 😂 Wishing you & your fam the best holiday season and a wonderful rest of your pregnancy 💖✨️ Can't wait for the next update!!
My advice is to buy lots of burp cloths! Not every baby spits up a lot, but if you have a girl that likes to spit up, they're essential. They're also great for a bunch of different uses if she isn't a pukey baby 😅 👍
Oh, also, once you give birth, a tip one of my midwife mentors gave me, was after the birth, be sure to pick up a bag of those heavy-duty menstrual cycle pads, that stretch from the front of your lady part to the back of your bum, lol, soak them in witch hazel and water, and then put them in the freezer. You can then line your panties with that post-birth, to help keep your lady bits iced to reduce the swelling post delivery. She swears by it to help with the healing time of your chacha post birth… Also, using your own breastmilk to lubricate your nipples before and after breast-feeding (if you choose to breast-feed), which will help to prevent chafing and dryness that tends to happen with breast-feed, because of the white blood cells and fats that are in the milk, which will both heal and protect your nipples from chafing.. Lastly, if you’re going to breast-feed, I recommend that you look into how to encourage your baby to latch before you give birth, because there’s lots of little tricks and techniques that can help your baby to suckle, which makes it a more enjoyable process, the first couple days, to weeks, after birth… I’m sure they will cover all these little tricks in your birthing classes! They sound amazing! But just in case.
I literally panic when I saw the mini-pic from the video! I’m happy you and the baby are ok. I completely understand the worry when you notice a difference in movements. We are the same weeks and I went to the hospital for the same reason at 23 weeks. Now, I worry sometimes but I’ve learn my baby has one day of intense movements and the next is like little kicks if he remembers to do it 😂
Awesome my baby (he's now 35) was like 35 weeks breach and Dr had to turn him (wasn't nice) lucky he dropped not long after and stayed put and gave birth normally! Yes the NZ maternity system is amazing!.

Bo & ko baby decor is the same colours that you are using.
There baby mats are beautiful
First time mum here! Had baby in Jan this year, now my baby is 10 months weee, let me tell you carrie this is hard but we got this

Oh my gosh I was breech and flipped while they were preparing my mom for a c-section. She was able to deliver me natural.

The very end of the last trimester my son did summersaults don’t worry just enjoy

I know...speaking again lol... another great cream I used for nappy rash is the paw paw cream in a red tube...its brilliant.
My baby was breach until about 36 or 37 weeks and then he finally turned head down and stayed that way until I had him at 41 weeks. I still ended up having an urgent C-section but because he was not doing good during labor. I hope everything goes great for you and your little girl! 😊
My first child flipped twice while I was in labour… I’m now 33 weeks and my second son is breech. Plenty of time for them to turn/flip/move!
Spinning babies helped me so much not only with encouraging baby to turn but also helped my body get ready for childbirth the week before!
I love my snap shades for the car! We started with standard window covers like yours, and ended up upgrading. The windows can still go down too ☺️
Both my littles were breech the whole way through my daughter turned at like 37 weeks and my son turned at around 38 weeks. Praying baby girl turns and you both have a smooth birthing process!

I didn’t have the nose sucker and my son needed it so badly. My neighbor came to the rescue.

I should add... my third was by far my best birth, she was born in a birthing bath, normal delivery
Just so happy and excited for you guys 🥰❤️💕❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. thanks
Is your left eye okay, Carrie?
Wishing guys the best 🧸
Do you find in the USA that many are fearful of the systems like Canada, NZ, Australia, UK? I always thought it would be horrible if you are on a low income and need to visit a hospital in the USA, how many actually end up in seriously health emergencies because of the fear of having to pay....it must mean a lot to not have that stress to worry about the costs :)
I'm glad to know you're doing well. Saludos from Las Vegas ❤
My mom told me I was breech when she was pregnant with me, and one day, while she was eating some particularly spicy food, I just flipped head down 😅
Weird little thing cold cabbage leaves for your breasts if they hurt. Worked amazingly and I didn’t care how stupid it sounded lol.
Good advice. The first 2 weeks of breastfeeding was so hard because my nipples hurt, but it does get better and they toughen up.
My advice is to buy lots of burp cloths! Not every baby spits up a lot, but if you have a girl that likes to spit up, they're essential. They're also great for a bunch of different uses if she isn't a pukey baby 😅 👍
Cannot find the code for outfit like you said
Thanks for letting me know - it’s there now!
sending love and hugs ❤
