On September 11, 2012, a partially armed group of men stormed a US diplomatic outpost in the Libyan city of Benghazi. At the time, it was not clear who they were or why they'd attacked. But by the time the attack was over, four Americans, including US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens, had been killed.
The attack ended by the early hours of September 12. But it has echoed in Washington ever since. The controversy has centered on Republican accusations that the Obama administration did not take heed of intelligence warnings before the attack, that during the attack it refused to call in available military support, and that after the attack it deliberately covered up what had happened.
Repeated independent investigations have disproven all of these allegations. But Republicans have continued to push them, insisting that these failures go all the way to the top, personally involving President Obama and then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. They've done so partly out political expediency - they think it's a great way to attack Clinton's presidential campaign - and partly out of a genuine belief that the administration is covering up the truth.
But regardless of the motivation, it's kind of paid off for Republicans: The House Select Committee on Benghazi, created by Speaker of the House John Boehner in 2014, found the first documented evidence that Clinton used unauthorized private email servers for State Department business, which became a major scandal. Unless Clinton is defeated in the Democratic primary, Benghazi will be around for the rest of the 2016 election - and if she wins, you'll likely be hearing about it for much longer.

Actually Yes reinforcements could have gotten there in time from Tripoli (1 hour away) and planes could have been sent in from Sicily(45 min flight). But they were told to stand down. Over 600 requests were ignored. Get your facts straight 4 men died in vain.
The four people in Benghazi were already dead when the decision was made to keep the special forces team in Tripoli.

First off, at this point, multiple federal investigations have proven that the Democrats did nothing wrong, and last time I checked, the US Government > one single person. Second, while I can see what ground troops would have done, the one US-operated plane type based in Sicily that actually carried weapons was the P-3 Orion, an anti-submarine/patrol plane with no business taking on ground forces.

There are interviews with Special Forces operators who were in or around the African continent who say explicitly that the "no assets that could get there in time" is a complete and total lie. Also they mention knowing that something was imminent well before the attack on September 11.

I don’t get why the state department would refuse requests for more security forces in Benghazi. That combined with the fact that she deleted 33,000 emails and had the servers scrubbed so they couldn’t be retrieved begs the question of why and to cover up what ?
I don't think they were all about Benghazi, Libya. There was a lot going on with Hillary. One of the least talked about was when the US sold our weapons grade uranium to Russia through the State Department. Then later, out of the abundance of their heart, Russian businessmen donated over 25 million to the Clinton foundation.

He sent so many desperate requests to be pulled out, he must have been terrified. But noo taking them to safety would look weak. They blatantly ignored his pleas. The very man they knew, and placed in that position. If he were here today he could silence these lies...but now he's gone. How cold hearted must you be to have lives on your conscience? How careless? If my own party did this I would never gloss over it, its completely horrific that anyone can. The way how the CIA and the Obama administration mishandle this situation is disgusting. CIA personal delayed the rescue attempt for the US ambassador being attacked (The Special Ops had to break their leader's order on waiting so they can go rescue them) and the CIA badly scrutinized the narrative of the Benghazi attack. And what's so sad was how they found in the diary of the US ambassador that he had a gut feeling that he was going to be in the hit list of Al-Qaeda because he saw how their presence was growing in Libya. In which, they actually requested more security but were denied!
And there was military presence nearby in Tripoli! The French had enough troops to intervene but our CIA/Dod/President didn't ask our allies for intervention.
Don't forget that at that time Obama goes to see jayz and Beyonce, while they being attack 💯👍

Question: How the f*** do you know how long a siege is going to last? The correct response is to get reaction forces (QRF) moving in that direction as soon as you know there's an attack in progress; they can always be recalled. Total BS.

My opinion is that they wanted this to go away, be swept under the rug. It was a contentious reelection campaign and Obama didn't want have to answer for a US property attacked by Muslim radicals on a 9/11 anniversary on his watch.

When I was a kid my parents used to take me for private tennis classes every Saturday in Tripoli. The tennis courts where usually empty in those Saturday mornings and I used to see Chris every Saturday there , he always looked like an optimistic person I always remember him having a smile on his face, I didn’t know who he was back then nor did I memorized his name but my father whenever he saw him in the morning would tell me about him . After the event that happened in Benghazi I remember we saw it on the tv but I didn’t know how big it was until the next Saturday when I didn’t see him , till this day when we meet up with our old head coach and a political topic about America pops up my coach never forgets to mention him , he was a good guy

The embassy was attacked, which had little security (every embassy is supposed to have a minimum of one battalion of Marines). Since there was little security, the PMCs decided to take the initiative and provide support. They requested air support, evac, all of which were ready to go and just needed the Go-Ahead to take off. They were never given the go.
An assertion that is found to be mostly wrong by a senior cabinet official disqualifies that senior cabinet official from a similiar posting. Right?

All facts are accurate. None are the truth. Like snapshots frozen in time facts are interpreted through one's eyes which are greatly influenced by education, experience, wisdom, & beliefs; which is why every story has two or more sides or interpretations. The way I see things may be different than yours. Please respect that others may honestly disagree with you. It doesn't make anyone a liar or a bad person.
He/she is saying that facts are intrinsically accurate (or not accurate) and that they are NOT truth or false. Meaning that you can present facts but you cant make conclusions based on the facts. Or actually you can but they are opinions and not facts anymore. He then says that difference in opinions based on the facts are to be expected and you shouldn't judge others for those different opinions.
Specifically, the opinion is after the "why are republicans still investigating". It could've been answered in several different ways so this is clearly opinion and not fact.

What has been done cannot be reversed; the dead cannot be revived. But no matter how hard and how long it takes, we as a nation must live with it and stop the blame game in order to progress forward. We must learn from our mistakes instead of deny the tragedies or place the blame on others. It is unhealthy to hold a grudge now since blaming others will not bring back the dead. One of the true tragedies was no help was on the way. CIA operatives in the area defied a stand down order to assist, allies with closer assets were not asked to help, the Obama Administration lied about the entire situation as they watched it go down via drones flying overhead. It was a defining moment and the Ambassador and his staff were abandoned. Politics and political expediency overruled the human aspect of it all. Obama’s leadership and Hillary were abject failures in a bad situation and purposely lied to coverup their failures. We expected them to try. Attempts at a rescue should have been on the way even if they were later stopped. I wonder what they said to the Ambassador, hold out as long as possible, we are doing all we can, whatever they said, they should have told him the truth, you were valued and had a life well lived, you and staff are on your own. The Senate Intelligence Committee explored Tiegen's claim and found "no evidence of delay or obstruction by the Chief of Base."
